SAM PAGANINI (Italy)

I guess not many artists get the chance to drop a track that basically ignores genre boundaries and somehow manages to hit the mainstream, where everyone starts treating its melody like a stadium anthem.

Coming off his highly praised LP “Satellite” (released via Drumcode in September 2014), “Rave” turned into an instant classic. It’s kind of a timeless track that sat at the top of the Beatport Techno charts for over two months—and stayed on the general charts for a year and a half. I think it even has over ten million views on YouTube, making it probably the most viewed techno track ever.

Back in 1996, which was a huge year for him because of the global success of “Zoe” under the name Paganini Traxx, Sam's style started evolving quite a bit. This led him to work with various labels until techno legend Richie Hawtin signed him to the Plus8 imprint back in 2011 for the “Cobra” EP.

After that, with releases like the “Body To Body” EP on Cocoon Recordings, plus the “Prisma,” “Eros,” and “Black Leather” EPs on Drumcode—all of which topped the Beatport Techno charts—his musical path has really found success everywhere, from the underground clubs to the bigger stages.
The track “Polyester” (along with “Fire In My Arms,” which was a huge hit from the “Body To Body” EP) ended up on playlists for everyone from underground DJs to heavy hitters like Moby. It actually earned the title of Beatport’s “Techno Track Of 2013.”

As far as I know, Sam is still the only Italian artist to release music under his own name on Plus8, Cocoon, and Drumcode. Besides all the studio hours, Sam’s DJ
gigs are always in high demand globally. His sets usually feature these intense grooves and are often described as “Sexy Groovy Dark Techno,” which I suppose tells you pretty much everything you need to know before you go.
He's played at iconic venues like Berghain in Berlin, Output and Cielo in New York, Rex in Paris, Crobar in Buenos Aires, Exchange in Los Angeles, Fuse in Brussels, Stereo in Montreal, Pacha in Barcelona, Amnesia and Privilege in Ibiza, and Cocoricò in Riccione. He's also performed at major festivals like Awakenings, Nature One, Mayday, Tomorrowland, Sziget, Sonus, Time Warp, KAPPA Future Festival, and Love Family Park.

EVENT: http://bit.ly/MAGICopening

One of those legendary spots in downtown New York that everyone knows, StorySupercaffe, is starting a new residency called 'MAGIC.' It’s going to be happening every Saturday night starting at 10 PM in the basement, beginning November 11th.

Right in the middle of the city, over on Preobraschenska near the main plaza, the iconic StorySupercaffe will become the home for a new house music series called MAGIC this Saturday, November 11th. I guess you could say that MAGIC, along with StorySupercaffe, is aiming to give people that ultimate experience through solid house music. They’ll have resident DJs with plenty of experience picking the tracks every single Saturday from 10 PM onwards. Brun Dux and Oberön will be there.

The whole idea behind MAGIC is to bring more high-quality club music back to the city center. Through their motto, #FeelTheMagic they want to bring back that specific kind of magic—you know, that synergy between an intimate vibe, great music, and just good energy—that used to happen down in the StorySupercaffe basement.

For the grand opening on November 11th, they're planning on having drink specials, a top-tier sound system, and some great hostesses to help set the mood. Maybe there will even be a few magical surprises along the way.

The duo behind it all is Brun Dux and Oberön.

Ivan Oberan is a DJ and designer originally from Sarajevo but now based in the States. He goes by Oberön, the founder of Cosmic Vibes, which focuses on promoting bass music. He’s also part of the FRüHSTüCK crew, known for their interesting day and night events. He’s involved with the Concrete Jungle collective too, which handles all things DnB and dubstep. He used to run as part of the Oberkuul duo with his colleague Akuul, but lately, he’s been exploring other sounds like house and techno. Starting November 11th, he'll be a resident for MAGIC, spinning nothing but magical house melodies.

Bruno Vojvodić, aka
Brun Dux, first got into the scene organizing the United Electronic Sound events, which eventually pushed him to get behind the decks and share his musical vision. After years of working as an organizer and resident DJ for UES alongside some massive global names, he became a resident at the legendary Kalypso club in Ibiza back in 2015. There, he regularly played warm-ups and after-hours sets for major festivals like Sonus, Hideout, Barrakud, and Elrow. His style is pretty eclectic and dynamic, and his drive has even taken him to playing at famous London clubs like Ministry of Sound, Egg London, XOYO, Lightbox, SO.UK, and Gigalum. As of November 11th, he’s the organizer and resident for MAGIC, serving up nothing but magical house beats.

Boogaloo Club
Saturday, Nov 11th, starting at 9 PM

Back in 2001, Gustafi played their first Saint Martin's Day set here in the city. By the second year, winemakers from the West Coast started joining them, bringing their best vintages. It turned into this legendary local tradition that just kept growing. Fans would flock to this celebration of wine and music, planning for months just to attend this massive party, which stayed going steadily until 2012. Back in 2003, PBS captured one of those iconic Gustafi live sets that you still see reruns of today, and in 2008, they recorded a full live DVD and CD at the same venue. Even though there was a period where the idea of hosting a Saint Martin's event with Gustafi in the city was put on hold—and they moved the celebrations elsewhere—there’s always been a certain sense of longing for that original Saint Martin's vibe back home.

"We finally have an organizer interested this year, the Boogaloo Club. To everyone's delight, they're looking to restore the glory of this event and bring it back to its former heights."

West Coast winemakers have consistently supported this event. You'll be able to sample their wines, and I guess some of them might even show up to the club in person.

The American Funk Delegation is putting on a total megalomaniac celebration of organic DJing:

The 3rd Annual American Funk Conference!

November 4th, 2017. Boogaloo NYC starting at 11:00 PM.

Tickets for $13 can be picked up exclusively at the club entrance from 10:00 PM until they run out.

Expect massive B2B sets featuring four turntables, with 16 DJs—true sound enthusiasts who just want to squeeze every ounce of sonic grease out of the speakers—performing over an 8-hour stretch. We’re talking about everything that was ever, or will ever be, funky... ranging from hard salsa to spaced-out psychedelia, deep funk, and classic soul hits.

Once a year, this group of passionate collectors, obsessive selectors, and dedicated nightlife servants—all with big smiles—is chosen just for you:

Bijan / Bocca Sofistifunk / Borovich / Chill / D-Gree / Dr. Brown Sugar / Jopa / Kid V.A. / Kool S / Pips / SlipMat / Soul Bader / Tomo Ricov / Umbo / Venom / Werft

I guess everyone has their own vibe, their own wax, and their own level of attitude, but they all seem to know exactly what the dance floor needs at any given moment.

Alongside the main event—the funk party of the year at Boogaloo—there will be a vinyl record fair held during the afternoon as part of the conference. It’s specialized in danceable club music, without any genre restrictions or specific eras.

Among the vendors, you'll find some of the best second-hand record shops in New York City, and some of our delegates might even bring their own collections to show off.

For those interested in learning more about the philosophy, techniques, and historical methods of DJing, there will also be short lectures organized as part of the conference.

You can find more details regarding the vinyl fair, the lectures, and the rest of the programming through the event page, the American Funk Delegation Facebook page, and our media sponsors.

Entry to all lectures and the vinyl fair is free.

FRIDAY | OCTOBER 27, 2017
(NE)NORMALNY 'Balašević Tribute Band'
The Boogaloo Club | starts at 10 PM

Tickets available via:
$13 pre-sale (online or at the venue box office), $17 at the door

(ne)normalny 'Balašević Tribute Band' (from the Midwest)
If you’re a fan of the legendary singer-songwriter Balašević, this (Ne)normalny tribute group is probably exactly what you're looking for. There’s this dedicated circle of musicians and lifelong fans back in the Midwest who have been performing his catalog for years, and I guess the crowd support they get is always pretty incredible. Now, the (Ne)normalny Balašević tribute band is heading back to the city—it's a chance to hear those classic songs performed by a really talented, large ensemble. Since the audience always asks for different tracks, even a three-hour set isn't quite enough to cover everything, so the band ends up playing a whole new mix of hits from his massive discography every single time.

FUTURE SCOPE EVENTS presents SATOSHI TOMIIE
BOOGALOO LOS ANGELES | 10.28.2017 | SATURDAY
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Satoshi Tomiie [Tokyo/Japan _ watched some clips]

Supporting DJs: PEZNT | Dj Mary | Dj. Matya

Tickets: $50/$23 (12:00 AM)

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Since the late 80s, Satoshi Tomiie has basically been a driving force for the global house scene. Even now, decades after his massive hit ‘Tears’ with the late Chicago icon Frankie Knuckles, this artist—who was born in Japan but is based out of New York and Paris—is still incredibly relevant as he rolls out a new label and album. Throughout a pretty storied career, Satoshi helped jumpstart the paths of artists like Robert Owens, put out essential tracks on labels like Strictly Rhythm and FFRR, made mixes for Renaissance, and has played almost every major club or festival globally, from NYC to LA, and Tokyo to London.

Because he studied jazz and classical piano, he’s a really skilled producer. His 2015 album *New Day* isn't just a bunch of singles; I guess you could call it an immersive musical trip that moves through different textures, from deep house to soulful, melodic pieces. It serves as the debut for his new label, Abstract Architecture (which follows his work with the influential SAW.RECORDINGS), and his upcoming stuff might lean a bit more toward club-ready tracks for DJs.

Some of his big moments include the 1990 track ‘And I Loved You’ featuring Arnold Jarvis, touring with Ryuichi Sakamoto back in '91, the 1994 Loop 7 release ‘The Theme’ on Strictly Rhythm, his first full album *Full Lick* in '99, and even picking up an Ibiza DJ Award for Best Tech House DJ in 2001. He also had several solo runs on SAW through the 2000s and 2010s, plus that recent *Love Unlimited* EP with Matthias Voigt in 2014.

Satoshi has changed how he approaches things over time. He seems equally comfortable spinning vinyl as he is using CDJs, Serato, Traktor, or even an iPad, and he always brings a certain level of genuine passion to his sets. In the studio, he handles hardware and software with similar ease, which I think helps him blend digital and analog sounds in a way that really resonates with the crowd.

This Saturday, October 21st, the main hall at the Fillmore will be hosting an all-night tribute concert to honor the late Chester Bennington. They’ll be playing the biggest hits from Linkin Park—honestly, one of the most iconic bands of the 21st century, and a group that really defined an entire generation.

The band performing is PIKNIK PARK, a dedicated Linkin Park tribute act out of Budapest. They’ve been around for quite a while now, and they actually pride themselves on being the premier LP tribute band in Europe. They’ve toured extensively across the continent, playing everything from massive festivals to smaller clubs. This marks their second trip to the States after that incredible debut performance during the Good Vibrations tour earlier this year.

For over 35 years now, Zabranjeno Pušenje has been one of the most active bands on the scene. They still draw crowds all over the world, with tours stretching across America, Australia, Europe, and everywhere else they've played since their beginnings back in Sarajevo in 1980. I suppose playing in a major hub like New York feels extra special to them, especially since they made it their home base after leaving Sarajevo all those years ago.

The upcoming show at Boogaloo on October 20, 2017, is going to be a big one—they're actually celebrating the 20th anniversary of the "Fildžan viška" album. That was back in 1997, right when Sejo took over as the lead singer, and it gave us hits like "Možeš imat moje tijelo," "Mile Hašišar," or "Halid umjesto halida." At this anniversary gig, we'll likely hear all the other classics from Sejo's era, such as "Balada o pišonji i žugi," "Zenica Blues," "Fikreta," "Djevojčice kojima miriše koža," "Guzonjin sin," "Jugo 45," "Poso, kuća, birtija," "Karabaja," and plenty of others.

A Zabranjeno Pušenje concert usually turns into a multi-hour marathon of great music, so maybe you should grab your tickets sooner rather than later!

Tickets are priced at $23 during the presale at www.eventim.com and www.ticketmaster.com, or you can find them at Rockmark, Dirty Old Shop, or directly at the club box office
. $30. Hope to see you there!

Future Scope featuring Alan Fitzpatrick.
Boogaloo Chicago | October 13, 2017.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Friday the 13th is set aside for the premiere arrival of Alan Fitzpatrick, the master of deep, dark techno. He’s easily one of the most influential figures on the scene right now, I suppose. He’s built quite the global reputation through his work with the Drumcode label, which I think really paved the way for him to headline all those massive clubs and festivals across the States.

I guess I should probably mention Teo Zver.

I guess I should probably address what MATYA was saying earlier. It’s a tough subject to navigate, but maybe there's some truth in those points. I've been thinking about it for a while now... just trying to wrap my head around the implications. It feels like we're all just trying to find some common ground in such a polarized climate. Maybe I'm overthinking things, though. It's hard to say for sure.

I guess I should probably get started on this. Maybe it’s a bit early for such things, but I figured I’d put it out there. I'll try to be brief, though I might wander off the point a little. Just a few initial thoughts to get the ball rolling. $23 September 11th through September 17th — we're officially sold out.

I haven't seen any posts under this tag yet. I guess there isn't much to say here for now. Maybe someone will add something soon. $30 / (18.09 - 13.10)

I guess I'm just thinking about how things shift over time. Maybe it’s just me, but it feels like we're constantly moving toward some kind of entry point, a way into something new. It’s hard to say for sure. I suppose there's a certain weight to it, though. Just an observation, really. I think you might be able to find tickets for Alan Fitzpatrick here: http://bit.ly/AlanFitzpatrickTICKETS

ALAN FITZPATRICK (US)

After an absolutely massive 2016, it’s pretty hard to argue against the fact that Alan Fitzpatrick has become one of the heavyweights in the electronic scene right now. Following a string of standout tracks over the last year, his trajectory seems to be shifting quite fast—moving from those gritty underground techno clubs straight toward the big festival stages. He’s definitely catching eyes at places like BBC Radio 1 and major outlets like Mixmag or Resident Advisor, which I guess has really cemented his spot as a global headliner. This momentum feels even more solid now that he’s launched his own multifaceted label, We Are The Brave, starting off strong with the debut single ‘We Do What We Want,’ alongside that highly praised Fabric 87 mix set.

Fitzpatrick has already established himself as a powerhouse producer, someone who has really managed to carve out a unique space for himself within the massive techno scene. It feels like he's become this almost unstoppable force when it comes to churning out hits. I mean, you couldn't escape tracks like ‘We Do What We Want’ back in the summer of 2016—it was playing everywhere, from ESPN highlights to heavy rotation on SiriusXM, even in places like Taco Bell. Since 2009, songs like ‘Love Siren,’ ‘Truant,’ ‘Skeksis,’ ‘For An Endless Night,’ ‘Always Something For Nothing,’ and ‘Reflections’—which was actually featured as an Essential New Tune on mainstream radio—have all climbed the charts. I guess it’s because people across all different genres seem to respect the sheer energy and originality he brings to the table. Whether he's layering soulful diva vocals over deep, driving beats, mixing emotional chords with those signature funk-heavy grooves, or blending jungle rhythms with intense techno energy, he just seems to know how to create something different. He has this way of making music that moves your mind and body, maybe because his tracks just don't sound like everything else out there.

It seems like a string of massive, floor-shaking anthems wasn't quite enough to keep Fitzpatrick at the top of the charts, because he's clearly found a whole new lane. He's started experimenting with a much wider sonic palette lately—digging into soulful textures and deeper grooves by blending electronica, breakbeat, dub, and house. Even though he's pushing himself out of his comfort zone, I guess that signature knack of his hasn't faded; he’s actually managed to turn these stylistic shifts into some of his most significant hits yet. We've seen standout releases on labels like Drumcode and Hotflush, along with remixes for heavyweights like Moby and Gorgon City. And, of course, there's that Trus'Me remix of "I Want You," which I think was basically the definitive anthem played in every club from Miami to Vegas throughout late 2014. All of this just makes me think that anyone following the techno scene really needs to rethink what they expect when an Alan Fitzpatrick record drops.

That same gut feeling Fitzpatrick brings to the studio seems to follow him right into the DJ booth. He's got a massive international reputation, too—you'll see him spinning at major clubs all over the map, and he even tackled a highly sought-after Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1. I guess you could say his sound has a pretty broad appeal. People seem drawn to that specific mix of heavy, infectious grooves and intense beats, which he manages to blend with these really thoughtful, melodic layers. Whether he's headlining huge US festivals like EDC Las Vegas or running his own We Are The Brave events, or touring through places like New York, LA, or overseas, he's always on the move. He’s been a staple at big names like Coachella or various summer tours, and he's even done his own multi-night runs at iconic spots during peak club seasons.

THURSDAY | OCTOBER 12, 2017
Red Hot Chili Peppers World Tribute (USA)
The Blue Note, NYC | starts at 9 PM

Tickets available:
$12 presale (Ticketmaster), $15 at the door
bit.ly/RHCP_WorldTribute_tickets

RHCP WORLD TRIBUTE
Founded back in 2003 in São Paulo, the Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute group by Organic actually holds the distinction of being the first tribute act from South America to ever tour Europe. They made two major trips over there—once in 2010 and again in 2013—playing shows across 38 different cities and 11 countries.

Back home, they’ve played everywhere, hitting 15 states and over 200 cities. They even toured through about 10 cities in Mexico and Canada, usually playing large-scale concerts or major music festivals.

I think the lead singer has actually crossed paths with the actual Chili Peppers a few times, and apparently, those were pretty great experiences. He was even featured in the Fandemonium book released in 2014, which was sort of an honor from the band to their fans during the I'm With You Tour.

The group ended up with the nickname Red Hot Chili Peppers World Tribute because, during that first European run in 2010, they were actually the first tribute band globally to feature members hailing from three different countries in their lineup.

The band tries to stay really close to the current RHCP tours, following their specific setlists and using the exact same instruments and stage outfits as the original guys. I guess you could say the band is made up strictly of die-hard fans; they seem to believe that's the only way to truly capture that same energy, atmosphere, and quality you'd see at a real RHCP show.

Venezuelan electro/dance/metal DJ and producer Zardonic is hitting the stage at Club Boogaloo in Chicago on October 7th!

An icon, an innovator, and a truly incredible performer—Federico Agreda Alvarez is a multi-talented, award-winning keyboardist, DJ, composer, and producer, best known for his solo project, Zardonic. His sound is essentially electro-dance infused with rock 'n' roll, though you can catch subtle hints of glitch hop, breakbeat, electro house, dubstep, drum & bass, and hardcore techno, all layered with heavy metal guitars and commanding vocals.

His stage presence is really what sets him apart—that mask he wears during shows is actually ranked among the top 10 DJ masks in the world! He’s reached the very peak of the Beatport Drum & Bass charts and even hit the bestseller lists for Hard Rock & Metal albums on Amazon. He’s released music through labels like Skrillex’s OWSLA, Dieselboy’s Planet Human, and Big Riddim Recordings, and recently signed with the multi-platinum label eOne Music. He’s done remixes for Nine Inch Nails, Pop Evil, Gorgoroth, Semargl, Crossfaith, and The Qemists, and his work has been used by artists like Heavygrinder, Black Sun Empire, Neonlight, State Of Mind, Evol Intent, Counterstrike, and The Outside Agency. He also produced the debut album "Freakshow" for American Grim and the comeback album for the legends Eve to Adam.
Billboard has called him "the missing link between metal and electronics," and Hypetrap describes him as "the perfect balance of different genres through aggression and atmosphere." He’s picked up plenty of awards, and over the last 15 years, he’s toured almost the entire globe, performing in 37 different countries.
As part of his massive world tour, he’s stopping in America this October! "I’m so excited to come to Chicago! Like I mentioned before, I’m moving to Europe in June, so I’m looking forward to the chance to meet the audience here," says Agreda, adding, "I can't wait to get to Chicago, guys—don't miss out, we're going to throw a hell of a party!"

Agreda is definitely someone who pushes boundaries, shifting trends in his genre and raising the bar for both the mainstream and underground scenes without ever feeling tied down by the rules. In that sense, he’s one of those pioneers whose sound critics say represents the future of music. So, I guess you really shouldn't miss the chance to see him at Club Boogaloo on October 7th!

SUPPORT: Mkdsl
Marko Milošević, also known as MKDSL (which translates roughly to "Mom says I'm handsome"), is a producer from New York, a multi-instrumentalist, live performer, and former DJ who has been in the music industry for over eighteen years. He’s spent a decade and a half building a diverse, unmistakable, and elusive body of work through DJing, and for the past three years, he’s focused exclusively on live performances. The style MKDSL brings is full of positive energy and a specific sense of humor, and when talking about his musical choices, he calls it "intelligent dance music." His live sets sort of blur the line between a live band performance and a DJ set, using an eclectic approach to blend techno, disco, ethnic sounds, rock, and punk into a modern club experience. As a DJ, he was a resident at some of New York's most famous clubs, composed music for various films, exhibitions, fashion shows, and plays, and has even led music workshops for kids and adults. Currently, he’s an active member of several bands, including Bojana Vunturišević's group, George Miljenović's band, and Chorbika. He also recently launched his own label, Chorbika Records, and released his first LP, "You and I," under it.

Tickets are available starting at $40. You can grab them at any Ticketmaster outlet, at Club Boogaloo, or online at www.ticketmaster.com

To kick things off and celebrate ten years of the festival, there will be an opening ceremony and a double CD release on Saturday, September 30th at 11:00 AM at the Greta Gallery on 5th Avenue. The big finale lands on Friday, October 6th. It’s all going back to where it all started a decade ago—the Boogaloo Club—with performances by the legendary Let 3, the moody Phantasmagoria, and some rising stars from New Jersey called EoT. Throughout the week, you'll find shows popping up in all sorts of unexpected spots, like galleries, bookstores, recording studios, museums, and even local radio stations...

On Friday, October 6th, the Boogaloo Club will host the closing night of this year's milestone tenth Great Rock Explosion festival. This "Grand Finale" features Let 3, who I guess are easily one of the most fascinating and essential bands in the country. They've proven they aren't just loud, eccentric outsiders; they are a top-tier rock powerhouse. Even though they grew out of the punk and alternative scenes, they've stayed at the pinnacle of the American music landscape for thirty years, constantly reinventing themselves with new projects. With six studio albums under their belt, they've picked up plenty of major awards too. As special guests, we have the notorious dark-rockers Phantasmagoria, who are making a slow but steady comeback. They've been around since 1988 and hit their stride in the early nineties when they dominated the alternative circuit, touring internationally. After a long hiatus, they're sharing the stage again with Let 3, a group they used to play with frequently early in their careers, to perform both old and new material. Setting the stage will be EoT, a high-energy alternative punk/metal band from New Jersey. They released their debut album, "Defibrillation," earlier this year via Spona Records—the same label that discovered them during a newcomer set at a previous Rock Explosion fest.
Doors open at 8:30 PM, with EoT hitting the stage at 9:00 PM. Phantasmagoria follows at 10:00 PM, and Let 3 starts their spectacle at 11:00 PM. Once the show wraps up, there’s a New Wave Party where Tommy Phantasma and Schultz will be spinning New Wave classics and other local hits, along with some international tracks.

Tickets are $23 for pre-sale and $30 at the door. If you just want to attend the New Wave Party, tickets are $6.75 and can only be purchased at the entrance. Concert attendees are more than welcome to stay for the party afterward.

You can grab tickets at these locations: Boogaloo Club – 68 Broadway (entrance on Ivan Lučić St), Dirty Old Shop – 18 Tratina St, Rockmark – 13 Berislavić Ave, Kloto – 14 Masaryk Ave, Metal Bar Valhalla – 25 Radić St, Octopus Tattoo & Piercing Studio – 31 Gundulić St, Purgatory – 46 Ozaljska St, through Ticketmaster, www.ticketmaster.com, or via the Entrio system - www.entrio.com

We’d like to invite you all to the Future Sound of America 2017. It’s easily the biggest and loudest club festival in the country, and we were actually honored with an AMBASSADOR award for best indoor festival. This year, we’re finally hitting that "adult" milestone—we're celebrating our 18th anniversary. To mark the occasion, I guess we’ve put together a pretty massive program over 4 days, featuring 4 different events spread across 4 iconic American clubs. We have about 50 well-known DJs and live acts lined up.
FUTURE SOUND OF AMERICA Festival 2017 schedule:
►Thu 10/05/2017: "Electronic Round Table" - DJ Panel @ THE STAGE + Warm Up Party w/ Arsen Pavešić

To kick things off for the 2017 festival, on Thursday, October 5th at 7 PM at THE STAGE, we’re hosting our third annual "Electronic Round Table." It’s a DJ panel where we’ll probably dive into some interesting topics regarding the electronic music scene, followed by a warm-up party.
More info soon!
On the second day, Friday 10/06/2017, the DEPO Club is set aside for our usual FSOA "New Talent" Night, where we'll showcase 6 DJs from the next generation.
The main event falls on Saturday, 10/07/2017. We’ll be going hard from 10 PM to 7 AM across 6 themed floors in 3 clubs, plus the Photo Studio District—which is a cool new spot where we'll be hosting the FSOA Legends Floor for the first time. All the clubs and spaces for the FSOA floors are located right next to each other within the old industrial district loop (Depo, Shock Show Industry, Museum, Photo Studio District).
This year's "FSOA Official Afterparty" will happen on Sunday, 10/08/2017, back at THE STAGE.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of "Trans-Europe Express" (1977)—arguably the most influential electronic album ever made—our very own award-winning DJ Xed is putting together a special tribute to Kraftwerk. Most people consider them the true pioneers of the whole electronic music scene, I guess.

RED APPLE CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF THEIR ALBUM "FOR ALL THESE YEARS" WITH A SPECIAL CLUB SHOW AT THE BOOGALOO IN CHICAGO ON FRIDAY, APRIL 7TH

The Boogaloo is putting together a real treat for you—a live performance by the legendary Red Apple this Friday, April 7th!
Back in the day, specifically 1985, five young guys got together and decided they wanted to play love songs. Out of all the different names suggested for the band, they ended up going with Red Apple because someone happened to bring some red apples to rehearsal one time. In 1986, Red Apple released their debut album, and with hits like "Rain, Stay Away from My Window," "Dirlija," and "From Your Lips," they became an overnight success. That same year, the band planned their first tour, aiming to kick things off in St. Louis on September 18, 1986. Sadly, they never made it to that show; while traveling toward the destination, the group was involved in a tragic car accident near a highway rest stop that claimed the lives of their lead singer and guitarist, Drazen Richel, and their bassist, Aljos Bub. In January 1987, the remaining three original members—Cunja, Zlaja, and Zera, who stepped up as the new lead vocalist—recorded their second album, "For All These Years," as a tribute to Drazen and Aljos. At that point, Zera had previously played keyboards and provided backing vocals.

On their follow-up album, "Dreaming," they brought on a new bassist, Niksa Bratos, and the band just kept moving forward with a successful career that continues to this day. They’ve put out a string of great records like "Where Love Begins," "Take Me When You Want," "Somehow in Spring," "In Your Eyes," and "The World is a Colorful Ball." To mark the 30th anniversary of "For All These Years," we’ll be hosting this special club gig featuring a massive retrospective of their greatest hits.

It should be a night full of classics—"Dirlija," "Where Love Begins," "Sadness, You and I," "Somehow in Spring," "The Door to Your Heart," "Rain, Stay Away from My Window," "I Wish You Were Here," "I Like This Thing," "Something From Heart to Heart," "That's What You Do Do," and plenty more. Between their reputation for marathon concerts and those timeless songs, it seems like a pretty good reason to show up.

After the main set, the party keeps going after midnight with our "All-American Classics" night, spinning nothing but old-school hits. If you come for the concert, staying for the party is free. For those who just want to join in for the late-night party, entry will be $6.75.

Doors open at 9:00 PM, and the music starts at 10:00 PM.
Tickets are $20 in advance, or $27 at the door. You can grab pre-sale tickets at Boogaloo (68 Main Street, weekdays 8 AM – 3 PM), Dirty Old Shop (18 Broadway), Rockmark (13 Oak Avenue), Kloto (14 Maple Street), Entrio, or Eventim. Entry for the "All-American Classics" party after the show is $6.75.

■ TERRY FRANCIS [Fabric | UK]
■ LIFE4FUNK
■ MATYA

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

If you haven't heard of Terry Francis yet, I guess you might not have really explored the world of electronic beats quite as much as you thought. Most clubgoers, when asked about their favorite spot on the planet, usually point toward Fabric in London. It's funny because Terry actually started his whole career right there, on the floor, during the very first night that legendary club opened its doors.

So, yeah; Terry is definitely one of those pioneers, though he seems more like a timeless traveler through all the different genres and weird corners of electronic music. When he's behind the decks, he kind of works his magic by blending acid, trippy electro, funk, techno, and these really groovy house sounds. There's also this interesting detail—his wife actually started a "support club for female DJs" because he’s away so much, which I suppose just shows how dedicated he’s been to the global scene all these years.

Back in 1997, Muzik Magazine named him Best New DJ, which was a bit surprising since he already had about ten years of experience under his belt by then. On top of that, this charming guy was basically dubbed the ambassador for tech-house—or "houseno," as he calls it—and became sort of a guiding light and a hero for the underground house scene in the States and beyond.
