Is it just me, or has the preseason hype cycle become completely unhinged lately? Every year, it feels like we're expected to treat these massive media events like they're some kind of religious experience. You watch these press conferences and it’s all polished soundbites and forced optimism, even when the actual roster situation looks questionable or the schedule is a nightmare.
I remember back in my college days, the preseason was just about seeing who was fit and who was returning. Now, it feels like a choreographed PR blitz designed to pump up ticket sales and sponsors before a single whistle has even blown. It’s hard to take the "ambition" seriously when you can see the script being read right in front of you. It makes me skeptical of everything being said during these sessions.
Does anyone else find it hard to buy into the preseason bravado, or do you actually enjoy the manufactured excitement?
