I think you mentioned somewhere else there was a thread about veneers and those porcelain chips...
Honestly, I don't know how anyone can justify grinding down perfectly healthy teeth just because they aren't bright enough for a Hollywood close-up. That’s a call you have to make for yourself. The thing is, veneers and those little dental caps don't last forever. Depending on how old you are when you get them, you're basically signing up for a lifetime of repeating the same expensive procedures.
The whole "aiming for a natural look" thing just doesn't square with the "Hollywood smile" vibe
A Hollywood smile isn't about looking natural—it’s almost impossible when you factor in that blindingly bleached shade that seems mandatory nowadays (at least based on what I see on Instagram and among the celebs).
You can spot that artificial look from a mile away... take someone like a typical influencer in Los Angeles, for example.
I’ve done it all. Once, I just signed the paperwork and walked out. Another time, I practically bullied my way out the door by pestering them constantly with, "When can I go home?" And then there was the time I actually started packing my bags because they kept pushing back my surgery—suddenly, they found an opening out of nowhere. In total, I've been hospitalized three times. It's clearly not an issue 😬
George Peterson49 said:Are we still talking about the ER? It would be nice if they could actually figure out what’s urgent, what’s an emergency, and what can just wait a bit. They have triage levels—immediate, within an hour, within a few hours, within 24 hours. There’s supposed to be a system where everyone knows where they fit in.
So, yeah, regarding the ER: there are specific protocols meant to decide who has the "right" (to use the term from the quote, though I wouldn't normally use it unless I'm responding directly) to receive that level of care.
A little on how those systems actually work in reality—my dad almost died in the ER at the local county hospital while waiting his turn. It was a rib issue. They didn't even put him in emergency triage because their assessment was completely wrong. His ulcers had ruptured. It wasn't until after several failed interventions that they finally decided to hurry up. We even had a doctor threatening us with security.
Another case—my mom was at that same hospital on the north side, waiting from 7 PM all the way until 5 AM. We eventually lost our minds and caused a scene. By 8 AM, she was finally in surgery for a ruptured gallbladder.
Based on that and several other cases, both close to home and further afield (I won't list them all now), my conclusion is simple: the triage system at that ER is a disaster.
Donna Johnson16 said:Maybe you have type A blood? I’ve heard that people with that type get poked the least during blood draws. It’s one of those things you hear floating around, though I can't say I've ever actually verified it myself. Just a thought. 🤷
I’ve got A+ blood, and apparently, that makes me a five-star buffet for mosquitoes. It’s a nightmare. Honestly, they target me more than anyone else I know.
People are sitting there perfectly calm right next to me, while I'm over here absolutely inhaling this food like a maniac. It’s embarrassing, really. 🙂
I basically hit a new PR just from vacuuming my apartment on Saturday. Toss in lugging around my laptop bag, and now my right shoulder is looking way more jacked than the left. Because of the asymmetry, I’m going to have to switch to carrying the bag on my left shoulder for a few days to balance things out.
I started noticing gray hairs when I was only 17... now I'm pretty much split right down the middle, I guess. I don't even bother stressing over it or tracking the progress. Feels like pure genetics to me. Women love it—tested and proven.😬
I took a look at those deleted posts... the moderator, City, wiped them out, so maybe you should just get the explanation directly from him.
From where I’m sitting, it looks like those posts were nuked because of your constant trolling. But look, I didn't pull the trigger, so my opinion doesn't really carry much weight here.
As for that private message you decided to post? It’s pretty obvious what happened there—the whole thing was nonsense. It was nothing but cheap ad hominem attacks and straight-up insults directed at me personally...
Look, I’m asking you to actually debate with some logic here. You haven't even sent me a single private message to discuss this properly—all you've done is throw insults my way. I have never once insulted you. Not anywhere, not ever. Second off—the moderator already cleared the air. They proved there isn't some massive conspiracy against you on the Housing Authority boards. Thirdly—you’ve only ever received one single warning from me (and honestly, it was the only one ever issued on the Housing Authority), and that was because you were blatantly trolling the thread about construction and earthquakes. You kept posting pictures of those little houses you like, insisting they should be built everywhere regardless of the context...
Since this conversation is clearly devolving into more trolling, I’ve got nothing left to say on the matter.
Look, we’ve already been over this... I need you to give me some actual, concrete examples. Talking in such broad, vague generalities makes it impossible to give you a real answer.
Look, I work in one of those glass skyscrapers with a fancy-pants reception desk... there is zero chance they’d let me inside with a bike. And honestly, my own people wouldn't even let me step foot in my office. Wouldn't want me messing up the "sterility" of the workspace or anything. 😬 Actually, there is absolutely no way I'm getting into the building or the elevator with a bike.
But get this—they’ve gone and installed these incredibly pretentious bike racks right out front by the entrance, and people are actually using them. I'll have to check if the security cameras actually cover them. And regardless of all that, buy a U-lock.
I’m thinking about investing... I took a quick look at the other bikes parked out front of the office, and honestly? Most of them are basically just begging to be stolen. It's a total free-for-all out there.
Right outside my office building, there are these bike racks, and I see about twenty bikes parked there every single day. It’s right by the main entrance, so there’s probably some security camera footage covering the whole area. I spent part of today just watching them from my window 😁
So, I’m officially joining the ranks. My office relocated, which means my commute is now just under 1.9 miles one way. It’s mostly through the local parks and some wooded trails. Took my bike out for the first ride today, and honestly? I’m pretty stoked about it. The only catch is my damn back is killing me, so we’ll have to see if these shorter bursts are manageable. I already know from experience that the long hauls absolutely wreck me. 😢
