You should definitely grab a high-speed thumb drive or a portable USB 3.0 unit while you're at it; since you'll be moving massive amounts of data, you really don't want to deal with agonizingly slow transfer speeds...
An external hard drive tends to have a much longer lifespan, right?
Hey everyone! I’m heading off to college soon and I really want to declutter my laptop—getting rid of all the digital dead weight so it actually runs smoothly when I need it. I’ve got about 100GB of stuff sitting there—photos, games, music, you know the drill. My big question is: should I just grab a cheap 128GB thumb drive, or would it be smarter to invest in a portable external hard drive? The USB stick is definitely easier on the wallet, but I’m worried about how long it’ll actually last. Which one is more reliable in the long run? I’m looking for something that won't just die on me after a year or two. What would you guys recommend if I want something dependable? 🤔 🤔
