Melissa Hernandez64 said:And yeah, I honestly think a topic like this belongs on the Politics subreddit rather than here. I agree the OP should have reached out to a moderator if they were trying to run a poll and didn't know how, but hey, at least we know he wasn't being malicious—he was actually trying to be helpful. So please, stop with these stupid provocations and making fun of him, because everyone messes up sometimes.

Bradley Morgan3 said:Okay, it’s not exactly revolutionary 😁, but it might actually work. Here’s my pitch: instead of moderators (always) just nuking posts, they should just flag them as invisible. Not totally gone, just hidden from anyone who isn't actively part of that specific thread. There are tons of perks to this... First, people would stop whining about the mods and there wouldn't be that constant sense of unfairness, while giving the mods way more breathing room. Second, discussions could be more spontaneous and loose, and nobody (Reddit) could accuse you of posting inappropriate content since it would basically be private and shielded from the general public. Third, it prevents people from being totally lost when they jump back into a thread after being away (which is incredibly annoying, by the way). Fourth, it gives lurkers a reason to actually join in because they'd get access to the hidden stuff.
Of course, implementing this would take some serious coding hacks, but I think it’s worth it. What do you guys think? Has anyone else thrown this idea out there yet?
Matthew Ruiz8 said:haha, this thread is pretty funny. I get what’s going on here and realize we aren't actually talking about Apple, but I have a few thoughts of my own.
Apple really fell off in recent years. Who even thinks about them lately? You hear about LG, Samsung, BlackBerry, or the iPhone, but remember when they were the undisputed kings of mobile?
How did they let themselves get blindsided like that? They missed the whole touch screen wave and the chance to sync handheld computers with phones, even though that tech had been sitting there for seven or eight years.
As for the post itself, it's hilarious, but the ads don't bother me. I just hope they don't start running weird, trashy ads. It doesn't bug me personally. Maybe the long-time users and older members are annoyed because they're used to how the forum used to look, but things change, and this forum is no different.
We'll see what happens next.
Good luck.
Tyler Ross86 said:Yeah, you nailed it. It’s honestly so stupid—he can't be banned just because someone asks, but the second someone starts throwing insults about family or nationality, suddenly it's all over. Makes zero sense.
It’s definitely for commercial reasons; they want to be able to brag, "Look how many members we have!" while ignoring the fact that 90% of them don't even post. Whatever gets them those ad dollars, I guess. 🤣
Let him take it to the Supreme Court for all I care. If a guy doesn't want to be part of something, he should be able to leave. In any normal American club or organization, you'd just get your membership papers and walk away.
