How long did it take you guys to get used to wearing glasses? Is three months enough of a window, or... 🤷
silverorca6 said:Can someone point me toward where I can get tested for APTV and HIV I/II?
I've got everything else covered.

Hmhm... at a hospital? You'd usually head to a blood center—you'll need a referral from your primary care doctor first.
briskmason42 said:Is it normal that two months after surgery my nose has started hurting right where the hump was removed😕 and I absolutely cannot breathe through one nostril no matter what I do??? My doctor keeps saying everything looks fine, but I feel like he's just blowing smoke since he didn't really fix anything—the bump actually looks worse than before.🙂

Why not just get a second opinion?
I’m good—the only time it hurts is if I accidentally bump it, nothing else. 😁
And my breathing is totally fine.
Susan Diaz91 said:Is the surgery always done under general anesthesia?

Not necessarily—I actually had mine under local with sedation, and from what I've seen on here, a few others have gone that route too.
Hmm... honestly, tampons weren't even that big of a deal for me. It just takes a minute to get used to the sensation—once you do, it's manageable. The worst part was definitely how much it messed with my appetite. 😁
restlesspuma15 said:I’ve been scrolling through this whole thread, but my brain is fried—I can't remember—did you guys start breathing through your nose right after they pulled the tampon out?

Yeah, I did, and I didn't have any issues breathing afterward at all. 🙂
But hey, not everyone can just switch to nasal breathing instantly, so don't sweat it if you can't.
Melissa Thomas35 said:Did you deal with the exact same thing I did? How long did it take before that hump—that bone callus—actually started shrinking? I know I’m being a pain, but I could really use some reassurance right now.😂

Haha, everything's all good. 😁
Hmm... it popped up somewhere around a week or two after the surgery. Then, about 4 or 5 weeks out, it started shrinking. It wasn't even like a typical lump—it was more just a little bump on the right side, so you could only really catch it from one side profile. xD
I think you get what I'm getting at. 😁
Plus, my nose was way more swollen on that side.

It's still there, but definitely smaller than it was a week out from surgery. Hopefully, the whole thing just vanishes in a few weeks—but honestly, even if it doesn't fully clear up, I’m cool with it. It can't possibly be any worse than how things looked before the operation. 😁
Melissa Thomas35 said:So, I’m back from my checkup. The doctor says it's basically just a bone callus that formed right where the break was. He told me it’ll probably hang around for a few months—and if it doesn't shrink down, I'm looking at a second surgery. Not exactly the news I wanted to hear.🙂
By the way, my nose is looking like an absolute disaster.

😲 Man, I feel for them—really do—but hey, fingers crossed it all works out. 😉
For me—I mean, it’s not totally gone yet—but it’s definitely winding down.
Kimberly Hughes17 said:Did you just get the tip done or was there more to it? I’m really hoping—since they only worked on my tip and the swelling shouldn't be too bad overall—that the tip won't drop once the swelling goes down... this shape would be perfect (once the swelling clears, obviously)... hopefully it stays this way, since that's what we actually agreed on..
I know I sound ridiculous.. but this waiting game is brutal 🙂

I totally get it—I was in the exact same boat. 😁

Nah, I had the tip refined, narrowed the bridge, and shaved down the hump.
wanderingnomad13 said:I don't get it. I was breathing perfectly fine today, especially after cleaning everything out... then I went in for another clean and now there's some bleeding and my right nostril is clogged again—the left one is totally clear. I'm lost. Am I doing something wrong? How do I fix this?? 😢

Maybe the bleeding is because you were being too rough with the cleaning?
Don't freak out. It's totally normal for your nose to feel stuffed up—everything is still swollen. You probably dealt with one side clogging up even before the surgery (at least I did). Just hang in there. 😉
wanderingnomad13 said:Using a toothpick?? 😲 omg that sounds terrifying
how were you even doing that? standing there with your head tilted back or what?

Honestly, I did the exact same thing as Hannah Baker23—just skipped the toothpick part.

As for the enemas—it was way easier for me at first if I just laid down. Later on, I could manage while standing up too.
Kimberly Hughes17 said:Hey everyone 🙂
I was wondering if anyone could share their experience—how much longer will that top part continue to drop, and how much will the whole nose flatten out? If I hadn't been scrolling through this forum, I wouldn't even know the tip could settle further because nobody ever mentioned it to me. Honestly, I'm a little nervous it won't drop much, since it looks pretty great right now—nice and slightly lifted. I really hope it stays like this.🤷
Also, does anyone have recommendations for a good scar cream or anything else that works?
Thanks

Hmhmm... don't want to burst your bubble, but mine dropped quite a bit. When I first took the cast off, it was super, super puffy—kind of gross (if you know what I mean)—but within a couple of weeks, it settled down (almost like it elongated), though it stayed a little fleshy. Not sure if that helps at all. 🤷
wanderingnomad13 said:Thanks so much!! I was seriously freaking out—not exactly a fun time.🙂
Just gotta get that right nostril working... Left one’s breathing perfectly fine, but the right side is still being stubborn.🤷
Maybe things will start working once I get started with the flushing—planning to do that tomorrow.
My doctor told me any saline solution works—Aquamaris, Sterimar, whatever—but I want the real scoop. Which one actually does the job for you guys?
Thanks again.

I used Sterimar, but honestly, only because I already had some sitting around at home. If I didn't, I would've just grabbed some saline solution—it's cheaper and works just fine. At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter.

As for that right nostril—you should be getting it soon, just hang in there. 🙂
wanderingnomad13 said:Hey!!
It's my fourth day post-op.
Yesterday I accidentally "touched" my nose a bit too hard—just a reflex—and today I was laughing (couldn't help myself, honestly 🙂 ) and felt this pain in my nose. Now I'm spiraling thinking I might have shifted something or whatever..??? I know the nose isn't made of paper, but still.. I'm freaking out..🙂
Anyway, the bleeding finally stopped today, but I'm still breathing through just one nostril.. I'm planning to start rinsing once they take the packing out (day 7)
Any advice?? Thank youuu so much

Don't sweat it. 😉
As soon as I got my packing out, I ended up scratching my entire nose with my hand while pulling off a T-shirt (total idiot, what can I say) and nothing happened. And as for laughing—that won't hurt you either, it just stings. There were times I wanted to laugh so bad that I’d just keep going until the pain started cutting through me, then I'd have to open my mouth and hold my cheeks with my fingers until the urge passed. 😁

Regarding the rinsing—I actually started on day 3 (they took my tampons out after 48 hours, and then the next morning I started using the saline spray)... so maybe that was day 4. :uncertain:

Anyway, good luck! 😉
