We’ve got this tiny little living fir tree sitting on the kitchen counter—we just stumbled upon it today—and then there's our usual fake one in the living room 👋
Brian Howard2 said:I'm not the one making jokes here—it's Ursula.🤷 Look, Napi, you can't have your cake and eat it too. You need to make a choice soon. ☕
Brian Howard2, it wasn't like Ursula volunteered to show up here; you're the one who posted the link. I don't usually bother reading the New York Times, so just take your business elsewhere. 🐔 And if you don't, you're going straight to my ignore list. 🙂
Brian Howard2 said:Wouldn't it be easier if you just moved to a small town in the Midwest and celebrated in peace?🤣
I'm not sure what you mean by "easier." The US can be incredibly traditional; even today, everything was shut down—not even a bakery was open this Sunday morning. If it's like this now, imagine how quiet it gets at Christmas.🙂
And for the record, I have zero connection to those small towns. Neither I nor my crew are from there.🤔
Why don't you head down to some rural outskirts if you want to act like a smart-ass?🙂
Brian Howard2 said:Why even bother stressing about it? If we just stopped celebrating Christmas in the European Union, the whole problem would be solved. 🤷 Just a complete waste of money. ☕
And why on earth would anyone stop celebrating Christmas? 🤔
Hanukkah seems to vary quite a bit too, from what I can tell. Honestly, if I spot a chocolate themed one, I might just end up wishing someone a happy Kwanzaa instead. 🤔
Look, nobody's forcing anyone—whether they're Christian or Muslim—to celebrate Christmas. People celebrate what they want, whenever they want. But Christmas is Christmas, and Eid is Eid. Are we going to start renaming religious holidays now too? 🤷
So what? 🍿 I’ve officially decided to stop stressing over everything. 🙂 What are you all going to say now? Instead of "Christ is born," it'll just be "The Yule log is burning and the bread is baked." 🙂
I know we were hearing the same nonsense about changing the church hymns a year or two ago too. 🤦🙂
It doesn't have to be transparent; honestly, I wouldn't even mind just using some basic twine, since the decorations are what really catch the eye anyway. Besides, you can always pick up some fancy gold or silver ribbon if you want to 🙂
Nicole Myers said:My poor dog used to be terrified of every New Year's Eve, shaking like a leaf. He’d just curl up under the bench with his ears tucked back, poor thing. For the last few celebrations, I've spent the whole night in the hallway just trying to comfort him. 😢
Napi, even our dog wasn't scared of the fireworks when he was young; the fear only kicked in later on. How old is your Goldie now?
turned 8 this past fall🙂 wasn't afraid last year. I'm really hoping it stays that way. 🙂
🤔 I don't get it—our Goldie isn't even scared of fireworks 😵 He was barely three months old when he experienced his first display during New Year's Eve. When they started popping, we just picked him up like he was a little kid and took him out on the balcony to watch. Goldie seemed totally fine; he could tell where the noise was coming from, and there was never any panic or chaos over the fireworks 🤔 It's not like he's deaf, he hears everything 🤔 Honestly, who knows? We probably just got lucky with him 🙂
