End of story.

I mean, I wouldn't even bother arguing if I thought you’d actually sat down, read my post properly, and understood where I was coming from in the first place. 😉
loneowl68 said:My head just hurts constantly... they're more like these intense, stabbing pains on the right side, right above my brow bone. It's been happening every single day for like a year now. They last a few minutes at a time, and it gets to the point where my nose starts running—not yellow or green stuff, but sometimes it’s even dark blue.
Because of these headaches, my doctor told me I should get an EEG, a CT scan, and see a neurologist, but then the specialist suggested I actually need an MRI instead.
Also, my EEG results weren't great, so my neurologist put me on Topamax.

I went to see a neurologist too, but they wouldn't even bother with the advanced imaging because they thought it was unnecessary given how bad my sinus issues were. They basically said once I deal with the ENT problems, we can look into more testing if the headaches don't stop. I guess some people just get congested, and others just get hit with migraines. Just one of those things, I suppose.😁
Betty Edwards22 said:Look, sorry, but you're saying things that just aren't right, so I really have to step in and correct you—whether you want to hear it or not, regardless of the specific distinction you made.
For sinus issues, you always go with a CT scan, mostly because the bone detail it provides is just so incredibly important in cases like this.

But... isn't that exactly what I was getting at? Just that... 🙂
I mean, looking at the example from that other user, it's pretty clear an MRI actually ended up being more helpful for her. And honestly, it’ll be a useful option for anyone out there who wants to avoid radiation altogether.
Oh, and one more thing... 😁 My colleagues actually performed my CT scan, so I’m positive they did their absolute best and used top-tier equipment, but the results just didn't reflect reality. See, I was originally supposed to just have FESS, but it ended up turning into a full-blown rhinoplasty because my septum was in way, WAY worse shape than the "slight deviation" shown on the scan. Anyway, I feel amazing now! My sinuses have finally settled down, though I'm still getting used to having a nose that isn't constantly stuffed up... What a trip. 😍

Luckily enough, because the CT didn't show anything—the results were totally clear??!!!! Like, no deviations, no polyps or anything.
Though, I don't know... I find it hard to believe they wouldn't have caught something on the CT if it was there....

Are you dealing with actual migraines, or is it just really intense sinus pain? 😁 Because, honestly, my headaches definitely improved after surgery. A CT scan should technically give a better look at the sinuses since it’s better for bone and cavities, whereas an MRI is usually the go-to for soft tissue. But, I guess maybe it wasn't even about the machine being lower quality, but more about the technician who ran the CT scan. One thing is for sure, though—you'll see everything on an MRI, and you won't have to deal with any unnecessary radiation...

I'm totally new to this thread, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a doctor over at Mount Sinai? My primary care doc suggested that hospital, though back home in SI, they told me they wouldn't really recommend going there just to have them poke around too much.

Basically, my head MRI showed some sinus polyps and a deviated septum. I was also thinking... maybe I could get my nose touched up a little bit while I'm at it? It’s been such a huge insecurity since I was a kid, and honestly, even now, it’s not that big, but it has this kind of "boxer" shape to it.

thanks so much

One thing I definitely would NOT recommend for polyps or a deviated septum is Dubrava.
And honestly, major props to you for getting the MRI—they were so insistent on pushing a CT scan on me... 😠
