HI EVERYONE 🙂. About two years ago, I went to the Mayo Clinic to see this specific specialist, and he completely ruined both my breathing and my appearance.

I originally went in for a septoplasty. It wasn't a huge issue, but I wanted to take the opportunity to straighten my nose, lift the tip slightly, and make it a bit smaller because the shape always messed with my confidence. He told me that a deviated septum had nothing to do with why my nose looked crooked to one side, which doesn't make any sense to me—if the septum is crooked, the nose is crooked. I explicitly told him that I wouldn't undergo the septal surgery unless he could also straighten the external shape (so I wouldn't have two different profiles) and that I definitely didn't want some tiny, pig-like Barbie nose. I just wanted a slight lift, a marginally smaller, prettier tip, and a straight profile—not something unnatural. He claimed they don't do aesthetics at the hospital, so I told him I’d just come to his private practice instead. He seemed worried I'd go to someone else, so he suggested I pay him half upfront and he would just perform the procedure at the hospital.
Prof. B. didn't actually straighten my nose (he didn't break the bones), but instead gave me a "saddle nose." While the profile looks okay from one angle, in left semi-profile, it literally looks like a banana 😉, and in right semi-profile, it looks unnaturally upturned and pig-like. He hollowed out the profile—creating that saddle effect—by removing too much cartilage, cutting the tip, and tilting it way too far up. He thinned out the septal cartilage to try and straighten things, but instead, the cartilage just buckled even more, pushing my nose entirely to the left, leaving one nostril almost completely blocked.

Recently, I started looking for a surgeon who can fix this mess, and it’s been incredibly disappointing. Most of them—both plastic surgeons and hospital specialists—seem to be incompetent and mostly just protect one another, including Prof. Bedeković. Some doctors did admit that they weren't exactly thrilled with how he handled the surgery and that he could have done much better. The worst comment I heard was that my nose is now something to look at, not touch (I can't even touch it much without risking major complications). For instance, whenever I have a cold, even just blowing my nose hurts because the septal cartilage is so thin and sensitive now.

Ladies (and guys, too :-) , I hope you can learn something from my experience. Don't just hand your face over to ANY random specialist.
