Carol Cox55 said:Hi everyone—I’ve honestly hated my nose since I was a teenager. I’ve always wanted to get surgery, but I kept putting it off, hoping I might just grow out of the complex—but here I am at 24, finishing up college, and nothing has changed.
I’m curious to hear from anyone who has actually gone through with it—what was the reaction from those around you? And more importantly, how do you handle the comments about getting a nose job?
Right now, the anxiety is really getting to me; I have this nagging feeling that all my friends and acquaintances might judge me...👎

That is exactly what has been weighing on me too—honestly, it still does. I’ve struggled with my nose for ages, but I never quite found the courage to do anything because I was so worried about what people would think—especially my parents. In short, I just needed someone to give me that little push of encouragement. Now that I’m 27, I decided to play it smart by framing it as a medical issue, and it actually worked! It turns out I have a deviated septum that’s making breathing difficult, so my doctor agreed that we should fix both the functional issue and the aesthetic side of things. My appointment isn't until October, though. For now, I’m sticking to the story that it’s strictly for health reasons—though, I have to admit, I feel a bit embarrassed knowing people will notice the change. I mentioned to my husband that the doctor suggested fixing the septum, and he just laughed and said, "What septum?" haha. On top of that, I’m a little nervous because my doctor hasn't given me much detail about the actual procedure itself; he just told me to run some tests and confirm everything a few days before the surgery, and that's it.
...🙂

X-rays can be pretty subjective—it really all comes down to how the imaging parameters are set during the scan.
"According to the results, everything looks great, except for those hypertrophic turbinates, which should probably be treated first with radiofrequency ablation."

Hmm, let me think... I was actually hoping to get a minor nose job done, but honestly, I’m not looking to drop a ton of cash on it unless it's absolutely necessary. I ended up going outside my usual doctor's care because breathing has been such a struggle—especially when I'm trying to sleep or working out—and I've been dealing with these ear infections. I read somewhere that nasal congestion could actually be the culprit behind the ear issues, so that was my starting point. After the X-ray, I have a follow-up scheduled in a few months, and I'm really curious to see if my surgeon will feel comfortable performing a rhinoplasty given these specific findings.
Could someone please break this down for me? What does this actually mean: "The paranasal sinuses are normally developed and ventilated, showing the paranasal cavities with visibly reduced aeration in both maxillary sinuses. The nasal septum is midline. Edema of the nasal conchae mucosa."
Basically, I'm wondering—do I have much of a chance of being sent in for surgery? 🤔
Hey there... has anyone here actually gone through an operation over in Columbus?
