I was running on zero sleep last night, so my brain was definitely a little foggy while I was typing up 😁

Long live the new king! in Formula 1 ·
It’s truly wonderful to look back—it really does feel like a nostalgic trip down memory lane, doesn't it? 😁
Samuel Ruiz4 said:Everything just went sideways for Kimi during qualifying, which left him stuck in the middle of the pack right next to those rookies who can't seem to remember how brakes work...
If he’d managed to grab P4, he might actually have been fighting for the win today.

Honestly, when I saw that puncture today, I just let out a long sigh—it reminded me of the days when things were even more chaotic. I mean, remember when we had rear wings flapping off or suspension components snapping on the final lap? Those were the days...

EDIT: These photos are fantastic, Tibi—really quite ironic, aren't they?
graniteharbor502 said:By the way, lest I forget to mention it, I would rate today's race an 8/10.

It might perhaps be a bit premature to say so, but I find myself expecting truly monumental things from young Max Verstappen.
Is it not true that Kimi Räikkönen acts as a sort of magnetic force for rookies and their inevitable mistakes? 👎

Kimi is a total strategist at heart—well, a bit of a slow burner—and it's been a defining trait throughout his entire career.
Amanda Kelly said:I’m still thinking about that call from Nico Rosberg to Sebastian Vettel, inviting him over to the Mercedes garage.
No, everything just flipped on its head in only two weeks.

Now he might actually be tempted to go pay a visit to the red garage.

🤣

Today, he’s staring at the rear of that red car—just absolutely glued to its bumper—and honestly, he can hardly believe his own eyes! 🤣

I can't help but wonder—is it actually possible that Sebastian Vettel was really hanging out in their garage?
neonfox65 said:I’m seriously considering just walking away from Formula 1 altogether because these races are absolute garbage.

Ps. Someone please wake me up when McLaren actually starts winning again...👋

Sadly, the time trial hasn't been invented yet 😁
neonfox65 said:Sure, sounds great—except they ended up doing one more pit stop than Sebastian Vettel.

It’s really because Mercedes just eats through tires like crazy—that's the whole reason they put Lewis Hamilton on hards instead of using used mediums. He would have had to pit regardless! An SC could have been their saving grace, as someone else already pointed out, but let's be honest: Ferrari's pace isn't what it was last year. Back then, Mercedes could pull off six pit stops and still breeze past everyone to secure a 1-2 finish without breaking a sweat.

Those worried looks on the faces at Mercedes after the second race... 🤣

Just think back to Australia, when they were all talking up the competition just to make things look better for the public—though, personally, we'd love to see that level of competition!🙂
shadowstag10 said:Alright, let's not go overboard here—I already gave props to everyone, including Ferrari and Vettel up above, but you can't just take last season's races and compare them to this one to prove it’s all about the car. It's just not how it works.

Look, let me clarify something right off the bat—maybe Vettel's experience and his "feel" for the machine actually helped shape this thing, sure, but saying this win isn't because of the car? That's just nonsense. I mean, if he wasn't driving it, neither would Kimi, and they'd both be sitting in the same car.

In that absolute mess of a season last year, Vettel wouldn't have won regardless of who you put behind the wheel.

Of course the car matters, but even if Nico Rosberg had the best car on the grid, Sebastian Vettel still managed to outclass him on track and leave him in the dust.👍
stormybadger8 said:Back in 2007, STR was a total junker that spent the whole season praying for even a single point. Then Vettel jumps in mid-season, and by the very next year, he’s already winning races with that exact same STR.
Ever since Vettel left, STR has basically become a total joke again. ☕

Back in 2009, Red Bull Racing was just a mid-field squad dreaming they might snag a top five finish if things got messy enough. Then Vettel shows up in 2009, and suddenly they’re title contenders—eventually crushing it with four straight championships right after.
They started messing with his head as far back as Malaysia 2013, and the kid already knew he had to get out of that dump. So, he pulls the trigger at the end of 2014, and wouldn't you know it? Red Bull Racing is right back to being a mid-field squad just dreaming of a top 5 finish in a chaotic race. ☕

Back in 2015, that Ferrari was basically a dumpster fire dreaming of a podium finish. They spent their Sundays practically praying to the heavens just to get a sniff of a trophy. Then Sebastian Vettel rolls up to Ferrari and—presto—suddenly they’re magic. Two races in and suddenly there's a win and a podium on the table. What a joke.🙏 So, you're just flat-out against the team that’s absolutely dominated everything for the last 20-plus years... classic.

Honestly, at the end of the day, it all just comes down to the car. 😍

👍 Behind one champion, there’s nothing but wreckage, chaos, and fired staff; behind another title, there are successes, triumphs, and a lingering sense of regret over a departure. 😁
neonfox65 said:Congrats to Sebastian Vettel on the win—totally deserved—but he really should’ve given a shoutout to Mercedes for that messy strategy call.

Honestly, though, I think that questionable strategy was actually part of the whole investigation process.

Lujo is feeling a little on edge 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Rosberg mentioned—and I really hope he's right here—that Ferrari will be competitive again before we know it, giving everyone a real challenge on the track 🤣
Patrick Bailey4 said:As a big Ferrari fan myself, I’m not quite sure why 🤔

I'm really just poking fun at the people watching the race live who seem totally oblivious to what's actually happening—specifically the reality that Vettel is going to have to drop down to those two-second slower tires within just a few laps. 🙄

The honest truth is that Ferrari is the only team actually giving Mercedes-Benz a run for their money on track right now. And let's be real—nobody has ever worked quite as hard as the Mercedes crew does to ensure they have the absolute best tire strategy in the business.
steelmaker83 said:James Alison Bernie Ecclestone 🙏 🙏

And just what exactly did Bernie Ecclestone do to help them out in this situation? 🤣🤣

Oh boy, here we go—the Alonso fans are absolutely losing it! Honestly, you can practically hear the wailing from here... just a chorus of "it’s a fix!" because they can't handle seeing someone else take the lead. It's all cries of unfairness now that the race isn't going their way.
William Bennett53 said:He does, perhaps. But routinely? 🤣🤣
Regardless of who takes the win, I just want every victory to be this "routine," if only to ensure F1 doesn't lose its audience. 🙏

👍👍
Patrick Bailey4 said:Why is everyone getting so worked up? 🤣

Hamilton does this all the time; it's just part of his routine. ☕

edit: actually, word on the street is that Mercedes expects Rosberg to be considered overrated too.

I can only imagine how much you're struggling right now ☕ 🤣
Ferrari is going to be duking it out with Williams 🤣🤣
Kimi Räikkönen was just absolutely tearing through everything in his path today... 🙏🙏 Total domination.
Go Sebastian Vettel, Forza Ferrari! 🙏🙏
