No. Again—what does that even have to do with anything? It’s not like you haven't seen a director totally butcher a great idea before, right? 😁

daaa, Mark Strong! 👋 I honestly can't picture Hiddleston in that role at all...
Hardy is fine, but he just didn't quite click for me...

I did, but I’m always hoping they won't. Killing off a baby is the cheapest, most low-brow way to grab attention, and I'm glad he didn't take that route.

It’s not some visual masterpiece you watch just for the eye candy; it’s more of a heavy drama with a moral at the end. Still, the lead actor carries the whole thing pretty well..

Jamie Turner80 said:The only caveat is that Locke is actually a British film, albeit one bolstered by a modest amount of American funding. It isn't a massive point, but let's be accurate.

Looking at the IMDb data, there's definitely an American influence here. Plus, that whole weeping, confessional tone directed at a dead parent is a classic American cinema trope. Maybe the Brits will pick it up in a year or two.

By the way, why does every guy named John have to sport those massive, socialist-looking mustaches?

My bad for the sarcasm, I'll back off, but when every single movie follows the exact same beat-for-beat formula, you can't blame someone for losing their cool. It's a personal issue at that point.

It matters to me because, obviously, we aren't seeing the same thing. The way this was shot makes it clear: any director with an ounce of self-respect wouldn't make the death of a baby acceptable.

I think spoilers are totally fine in a thread about this movie 😉

That’s what I thought too, but let’s be real—they wouldn't have spent so much time obsessing over that umbilical cord detail if they weren't planning on using it to trap her.
I don't know, personally I thought the ending worked for a film like this; it was actually pretty calculated. He ties up all his loose ends, gets that guy back together with her, saves his damn construction business and all his concrete... and then suddenly he's ready to tackle the unsolvable? Come on.

And yeah, my favorite part is when his wife keeps nagging him about those concrete stains he has to scrub away.
Both literally and symbolically, that’s easily the most powerful moment in the whole thing.

How would you even wrap this up, Rachel Ortiz33? That’s the only ending that actually works. Unless you’re planning on having a car full of drunk teenagers plow into him for a fatal crash.

Honestly, for an American flick, the ending actually lands. The anticlimax hits right where it should, perfectly timed.

But the whole movie left me feeling a bit annoyed. Even though Locke comes across as this decent, responsible guy, it feels like he’s only that way because his uncle was such a scumbag. Half of American cinema (and literature, really) is just built on the sins of the father, isn't it? 🙄

It’s a drama, not a thriller, and honestly, it doesn't pretend to be anything else. From the opening shots, you can tell it's just an actor telling his life story while driving.

Hardy is a great actor and I've always been a fan, so the story is what it is. My only gripe is how often he keeps addressing his late father. If they cut that out, this little Hardy monologue would be much tighter, smoother, and easier to sit through.

To be honest, I was holding out for a much more definitive ending. I kept waiting for things to actually escalate, you know? Like, I thought there would be some big payoff or a massive climax... but nothing happened.

Nothing happens. That's just life.

I totally wrote off this movie before even seeing it just because of the vampire theme, not even checking who directed it. But then I saw NRMan’s review and figured, why not? And honestly?
Patrick Martin is spot on—it’s actually a solid, weird little flick.
