Air tank regulator/pressure gauge recommendations? in Miscellaneous ·
Sam Lee2 said:It really boils down to whatever thread type is on that tank. You’re supposed to have the cylinder certified before you even think about using it—so just track down whoever did the certification and they can give you the full rundown. They'll probably point you toward the big brands too.
Your other move is to just swing by a local dive shop and ask the pros there.

When it comes to stuff that determines whether you live or die, you're better off asking someone face-to-face...😉

The tank is already certified. I've got the thread and the matching screws ready to go—I'm just missing the regulator. I've sent out a few inquiries to some scuba shops and I'm just waiting to hear back. Tomorrow I'll drive around town to hit those clubs and shops to check

thanks a ton 😉

Hey everyone 🙂

I’m looking for some advice on a bit of a headache I’ve run into while trying to air up a tank. Look, I’m fully aware of how dangerous high-pressure air tanks can be—one wrong move and things get ugly—so I’m definitely not trying to play fast and loose with safety here.

Here’s the deal: I’ve got this smaller cylinder that can be charged up to 3,000 psi, with an outlet pressure of about 1,230 psi (roughly 85 bar). My goal is to drop that pressure down to somewhere in the 350–450 psi range, but I’m hitting a wall because I can't find any regulators or gauges that actually fit those specs. 😠

I’ve spent way too much time scouring Google and calling up local dive shops from Florida to California, but honestly? I haven't gotten a straight answer from anyone. It’s been frustratingly vague. I need specifics, like:

1. Which specific regulator or gauge should I be using?
2. Where can I actually buy reliable gear that does this?

If anyone out there has some actual, concrete answers, I’d really appreciate the help. 🙂
Thanks in advance!

Best,
