It feels like every time we turn around, the massive powerhouses are just finding new ways to widen the gap between the haves and the have-nots. At what point does the sheer scale of these budgets stop being about "growth" and start being about just pricing everyone else out of the conversation? Do you think there's any way to keep things competitive once the money reaches this level?
Graphics card and BIOS issues... in IT Support ·
Hey everyone, I’ve run into a really frustrating issue with my graphics card lately that I just can't seem to shake. Basically, out of nowhere, the card spikes to a 100% full load even when I don't have a single application running on my PC; then, after a bit, it just settles back down to normal, and this whole cycle repeats itself roughly every ten minutes or so. I actually went ahead and flashed my BIOS to the latest version recently, so I have a nagging feeling that might be the culprit, though I can't say for sure. My motherboard is a http://uk.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/G...DS3H-rev-10#ov and I'm running an Nvidia GTX 650. Since my current BIOS version is F11a—which I pulled directly from the official Gigabyte site—and the release notes specifically mention they "Improve PCI Express x16" slot compatibility, I'm starting to suspect the BIOS is at fault here. If anyone has dealt with something similar, I would truly appreciate any help you can offer. I've already tried performing a CMOS reset by pulling the battery, cleaned the card thoroughly, reapplied the thermal paste, and installed the latest drivers, but none of that seems to have made a dent in the problem; it's still happening just like before.
PC keeps shutting down randomly in IT Support ·
Hey everyone, I’m running into this really bizarre issue with my PC and I honestly have no clue what’s actually going on here. A few nights ago, my brother accidentally bumped the edge of the desk pretty hard, and the whole computer just instantly died on him. Then, being a bit of an idiot, when I tried to boot it back up, I started thumping the case to see if I could "wake it up," and it actually shut off during the first two attempts. I kept tapping on the chassis a few more times and it seemed fine after that, until tonight, when it cut out again just from me pulling on the side panel. I'm totally lost, but I have a nagging suspicion that my https://www.newegg.com/p/Corsair-PC-Case-Black-350W-PSU case might be making some weird contact with the motherboard itself. My board is a http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/G...DS3H-rev-11#ov, and even though I've gone through all the connections multiple times to make sure everything is seated perfectly, nothing seems to change. If anyone here has dealt with something similar or can guess what might be causing these random shutdowns, please let me know what you think the culprit is and how I might be able to fix it.
PC won't shut down properly in Desktops ·
Hey everyone, I’m dealing with this really bizarre issue with my PC and I honestly have no clue what’s actually going on here. A few nights ago, my brother accidentally bumped the edge of the desk pretty hard, and the whole computer just shut off instantly. Then, being a bit reckless during the reboot, I tried hitting the case to see if I could "fix" it, and the first couple of times it just died again. I kept tapping on the chassis a few more times and it seemed fine for a while, until tonight when it cut out again just from me pulling on the side panel. I'm stumped, but I'm starting to wonder if the case, which features a https://www.dateks.lv/en/cenas/korpu...black_350w_psu, might be causing some kind of short circuit against the motherboard, which is a http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/G...DS3H-rev-11#ov. I’ve double-checked all the connections multiple times and everything looks seated perfectly, so if anyone has run into something similar or has an idea of what might be triggering these sudden shutdowns, please let me know. Any advice on how to troubleshoot this would be a huge lifesaver.
Logitech K120 keyboard in Computer Peripherals ·
I recently picked up a Logitech K120, and honestly, I’m running into a massive headache with this thing because it just keeps cutting out on me for no apparent reason. It’ll suddenly go completely dead and stop responding entirely. Even when I turn off the blue backlight, the keyboard will randomly flash bright for a split second before dying again, and the only way I can get it working is by physically unplugging the USB and plugging it back in, which I've had to do over and over. I actually tried to troubleshoot this by going into my settings and disabling the option for the PC to turn off USB devices to save power, but that didn't do a damn thing. I'm pretty sure it isn't an issue with my computer, though, because I actually ended up swapping out both my motherboard and my power supply—not even because of the keyboard, just because I was doing a major system upgrade—and yet the exact same problem persists. At this point, I’m convinced I just caught a lemon, like a defective unit that’s either shorting out or drawing way too much current. To make matters worse, I accidentally tossed the original packaging, so when I went back to the store with my receipt, they told me they couldn't exchange it for a new one. It's been so unpredictable; sometimes it works perfectly for three days straight, and then on the fourth day, it just quits, or sometimes it dies after only an hour or two of use. I’ve also noticed it tends to freak out whenever I restart my PC, so I’ve just gone back to using my old Microsoft keyboard that I bought way back in 2011, which still runs flawlessly. If anyone else has dealt with this specific nightmare with this model or knows a fix that might actually work, please let me know.
DVD drive issues in Hardware ·
So, I realized today that my DVD drive has completely given up on me; whenever I pop a disc in, the little light flickers for a second and then just dies, leaving absolutely nothing to load. I don't actually use physical discs all that much since I mostly just download everything from the web, but it’s a massive headache because if I ever need to do a clean reinstall of Windows, I'm basically stuck. I tried searching on YouTube for some fixes regarding clearing out bad filters or whatever, but none of that worked, and to make matters worse, I ended up getting hit with a Blue Screen of Death. I managed to claw my way back from that using System Restore, but even after doing that, the drive is still totally unresponsive. The only time I’ve ever actually opened the case was once when a rubber band snapped and I had to put things back together, but it worked fine back then. I’ve double-checked all the connections and everything seems plugged in tight. If anyone out there has any idea how to fix this, please, I'd really appreciate the help. Honestly, the worst part is I can't tell if it's even worth opening up the tower to see if there's an obvious hardware issue or not, especially since the light still blinks when I open the tray, so I'm not entirely sure if the hardware is actually fried.
I’m feeling a bit stuck on something regarding my RAM speed, and I can't quite wrap my head around why the numbers aren't adding up. Based on what I have installed, the speed should be sitting at 1333 MHz, which means the base clock frequency ought to be 667 MHz, but for some reason, everything is showing 532 MHz instead—which would imply it's running at 1066 MHz. It’s really throwing me for a loop because I distinctly remember checking this before and it was showing 667 MHz, so I don't know what changed. Even now, when I pull up Aida, it still identifies the slot as a 4GB (DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM) module, so the hardware seems to recognize the specs correctly. If anyone out there has dealt with this kind of discrepancy or knows why my frequency might be dropping like this, I would honestly appreciate it if you could walk me through what's going on.

So, I’ve got this MSI H61M-P22 (MS-7680) motherboard sitting on my desk, and I'm looking at picking up an AMD Radeon HD 5670 to get things running, so I was really wondering if anyone could tell me if this specific graphics card will actually fit and work with my current board?
Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
I managed to track down the culprit behind my Blue Screen of Death using Blue Screen View, and it looks like the issue is tied to a file called ntoskrnl.exe sitting right in System32. I ran a scan on it just to be safe, but everything came back clean—no viruses or anything. According to Blue Screen View, the error is being triggered by Memory Management. Honestly, I’m at a bit of a loss here on what to do next to get rid of this headache; I really don't want to believe it's a hardware failure, and frankly, the thought of wiping my whole system and starting from scratch sounds absolutely miserable since I've got so many programs installed already.

I honestly have no idea what could be going wrong with my memory, especially since I'm running 4GB of DDR3 at 1333Mhz paired with a 465 GB SATA HDD. This whole Blue Screen of death situation actually started one evening when I was trying to download Microsoft Word 2010 from a torrent site; the installer kept asking for a product key that I just couldn't find anywhere, so I started digging through the various files I had downloaded, and as soon as I clicked on one of them, everything just crashed into a Blue Screen of death with that specific error message. I also saw a message saying Windows encountered a critical error, though I can't say for certain if they were related. Is there some kind of concrete, step-by-step way to actually fix this, rather than just following those vague suggestions you see floating around on random internet forums?

Hey everyone, I’ve been running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on my machine, but for the last three days, I’ve been getting hit with this constant Blue Screen of Death, and the error code keeps showing up as stop:0x00000024. Honestly, I’m at a total loss on how to fix this, and I’d really appreciate it if anyone who knows what they're doing could lend a hand because I am genuinely stuck. It’s incredibly frustrating how it just pops up out of nowhere when I least expect it, completely catching me off guard. I’ve already tried downloading RegCure and a few other repair tools I found online, but nothing seems to touch the problem. I really need a concrete solution to get this sorted out.

Benjamin King2, I really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction, but I've got a bit of a headache because Malwarebytes keeps flagging this heuristic malware every single time I run a scan, yet for some reason, it just won't let me delete it no matter what I try.
