Yeah, I already tried that, but it’s the same deal. It just keeps throwing that "limited access" error, and then suddenly there isn't a single network in range to connect to. It's like the wireless signal just vanishes, and I can't even figure out how to get it back. Weirdly enough, if I unplug my USB drive and plug it back in, things start working again, but then after a little while, the whole mess repeats itself.
Hey, quick question. I’m using a Linksys Boeing 737 wireless adapter, and I keep getting hit with that "Limited Access" error. It’s super annoying because I’m sitting right next to the router. I actually noticed something weird—whenever my vacuum cleaner gets close to it, the connection just dies instantly and shows that limited access message. I end up having to physically unplug the USB adapter and plug it back in just to get things moving again. I guess maybe I should try changing the channel on my router settings, or is it something else entirely? Thanks!
William Richardson12 said:Could be anything, really. Most likely just a driver issue though... grab the latest version straight from their site, wipe the old one out of Device Manager, reboot, and then run the new installer.
Yeah, I did that, and still nothing.
So, I picked up a new Linksys wireless adapter from $67, and everything seems fine at first. I get the drivers installed on my PC and all that, but then after an hour or two—sometimes just a few hours—the connection drops out completely. It gives me that "USB Implementers Forum" error message, which is incredibly frustrating. I'm running Windows 7, and the only way to fix it is to physically yank the adapter out of the port and plug it back in. I did some digging online and it looks like this is a recurring headache for a lot of people, but nobody seems to have a real solution... if anyone knows what's going on, please help me out.😠
Adam Moore3 said:So, I recently upgraded my Verizon Home Depot plan, which came with a newer, more modern device. Everything works fine, but there’s this tiny, super annoying little issue. Every single time I reopen Google Chrome and try to hit any website, it takes forever for the page to actually load. While it's loading, you see "Downloading proxy script" in the bottom left corner. Once it finally finishes, the internet is totally fine and everything runs smoothly. It's just that initial connection that drags on—sometimes maybe for as long as thirty seconds. If I close Chrome and restart it, I have to deal with the whole thing all over again, but if I just leave it open, it's not an issue. Ping is fine, download and upload speeds are fine. It isn't a huge deal, but it really bugs me and I'd love to fix it if possible. 🙂
just go into your Chrome settings and DISABLE
Use a web service to help troubleshoot navigation errors
Use prediction services to autocomplete searches and URLs typed in the address bar or search box
Pre-load web pages for faster browsing performance
Send suspicious downloads to Google
Help prevent identity theft and malicious software
Use a web service to help with spell checking
Automatically send usage statistics and crash reports to Google
Send a "Do Not Track" request with your browsing traffic
disable everything except number 3
I don't really buy that being the issue. I just tried disconnecting my Netgear wireless adapter to see if that might actually do something, maybe it'll help,
The mouse works fine on that USB port, so I don't think it's an issue with the adapter. It’s brand new, and honestly, I don't trust the computer either since that's also a new build
I guess I'll go ahead and check that out now
So, I’ve tried disconnecting everything and resetting things, but it’s the exact same story. After about an hour, the connection just drops out completely. The router seems to be doing its thing just fine, but my PC loses all internet access entirely.
George Sanders37 said:You mentioned you unchecked the "allow computer to turn off this device to save power" setting, but did you actually do that for the USB hub itself too, or just for that specific wireless card?
I tried that, but I'm still getting the exact same issue 😢. I think I read somewhere that you have to disable Wireless Zero Connect to stop the connection from dropping? Maybe that's the fix?
I only put together the guide for that Netgear A6210 wireless adapter I picked up, unfortunately. I haven't really looked into how you'd go about doing the other one, though maybe there's a way?
I know, but honestly, even this latest one wasn't actually on the computer, I don't know... now, by some weird miracle, nothing is shutting down at all
I went ahead and tried that, but honestly, nothing changed. I'm wondering if it could be because my Windows automatic updates are turned off? Maybe since I haven't installed the latest Windows update, that's causing the issue... I mean, I just messed with the DNS this morning, and for the last 45 minutes, everything’s been running totally fine. I'm getting a steady 36 Mbps, which is excellent, and both my phone and the router are sitting right next to the PC, so there shouldn't be any interference.
I’m running Windows XP Service Pack 3 with all the latest updates installed, but I honestly can't figure out why my connection keeps dropping. Everything seems totally fine while I'm actually sitting at the computer, but the second I walk away, the adapter just disables itself. I get some kind of diagnostic error popping up in Chrome, and then when I try to jump back online, it forces me to restart the whole connection process. It’s super annoying because nothing else is acting up. Weirdly enough, if I use a wired connection, it stays on perfectly fine—it's just this wireless setup that's being flaky. Maybe it's a power saving thing? I guess we'll see.
So, I picked up a $67 new Netgear wireless adapter and plugged it right into my Universal Serial Bus port. I went through the whole drill—installed all the drivers and everything, and at first, it seemed totally fine. But here’s the kicker: whenever I step away from the PC for a few hours and come back, the internet is dead. It turns out the adapter just gets disabled on its own. -.- It’s driving me absolutely insane because I have to physically unplug it and plug it back in just to get back online. I already checked the settings and made sure "allow computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked, so I have no clue what's going on here. Any ideas? Help me out, thanks!🙂
