I’m sorry, but I really don't think that's true. Surgeons out there truly go above and beyond for their patients. They put so much effort into the actual procedures, but they also treat people with such kindness. (Of course, there are bad surgeons and difficult people everywhere, but I'm talking about the majority).

Unfortunately, my own experience was quite different, and I'd rather not dive too deep into all the details. Plus, many of my friends have had negative experiences as well. I'm speaking specifically about Scandinavia—I'm not sure how things are in Germany, the USA, or elsewhere. I'm certain there are wonderful, attentive surgeons outside our region, but it's widely known that surgeons from our part of the world, including Russia and most Eastern European countries, are top-tier experts who take immense pride in their work. In the West, it felt somewhat impersonal; I honestly felt like I was just a number.
I should reiterate—my own experience After a relatively simple vein procedure where so many things went wrong, I couldn't even see the doctor who performed the surgery again. My postoperative care was handled entirely by nurses because the doctor was constantly tied up in other surgeries, even though my complications were actually quite significant. Not to mention, my veins actually look larger now than they did before the operation. When I compare that postoperative period to the care we received in Makarska... well, there's just no comparison. So, if I ever decide to undergo a vein procedure again—which I might have to for both health and aesthetic reasons—I'd prefer a doctor from our neck of the woods. I've heard Lastric in Chicago is excellent, so if anyone has any insight, please let me know. This forum is such a perfect place for us to share experiences and help one another out.

Have a lovely day, everyone! I've actually already started working, just 10 days after surgery. The tip of my nose is still a little swollen, but I can breathe perfectly fine, and the blue bruising is almost gone (though I am wearing quite a bit of foundation...). All in all, I'm incredibly happy with the results.🙂
PS: The little one just woke up—I'll be sending photos of my nose later today.🙂
First off, this forum actually helped me pick the surgeon for my Kcerka’s nose job, and eventually, I decided to get a little work done on my own nose too while we were waiting for her in Makarska.🙂
So, I spent the entire year reading every single thing available about rhinoplasty; I feel like I know everything there is to know about every doctor out there. I live abroad in a country where plastic surgery is way more common than it is back home. After doing consultations at some really high-end clinics in Scandinavia, I just didn't feel like anyone truly earned my trust enough to handle my little girl. So, I moved my search to Belgrade and had consultations with plenty of people—and you have to understand, since my little one is asthmatic, I had to be incredibly thorough. And still, nothing. Everyone talks about aesthetics, but nobody mentions function. They act like it's such an easy fix... but for my daughter, it wasn't just about having a pretty nose; how she breathes was the priority. For me, it was the exact opposite. That’s when I happened to read about Dr. Glusac right here on this forum.
He's an ORL specialist and an aesthetician, and honestly, after the sheer volume of phone calls I made, I probably had to climb him like a tree just to get attention! But, miraculously, he had so much patience, and I never once felt like any of my questions were trivial or silly.

We arrived in Makarska on March 25th. The doctor was running a tiny bit late, though we were a bit late too, so it worked out perfectly. We had one last consultation before the surgery, and then the procedures started: my daughter went in around 6:00 PM, and then I went in around 8:00.
What can I say? He drove us to our apartment after we woke up, and he even called neighbors during the night just to make sure everything was okay—that’s pretty unusual for doctors these days. Anyway, I’ve heard girls say that getting surgery at big international clinics feels like being on an assembly line—you see the doctor during the operation and then just nurses at the follow-ups—but I suppose everyone has their own way of doing things.
Waking up with nasal tampons is definitely not a pleasant experience, believe me. At 5:00 PM the next day, we had our check-up with the doctor, who removed the tampons for us. Both of us completely agreed that we could have easily pulled them out ourselves just one day later. It's hard to wrap my head around how some people have those tampons in for three or four days, or even longer.🙂
We stayed in Makarska for seven days, with daily check-ups and nasal cleaning—not just for us, but for a girl from Belgrade and another girl from Zadar (I won't mention names because I don't know if they want their surgeries discussed publicly), and everyone else we saw in the office every day, even though I didn't personally meet them.

We are back home now, about 8 or 9 days post-op. My Kcerka is already out hanging with friends, acting like she hasn't even had surgery, except for the fact that she finally has the nose she always dreamed of. She's so cheerful and bubbly. As for me, I didn't go for anything drastic, so no one will really notice the subtle change, which was exactly my goal. But it means so much to me that the tip of my nose, which used to droop, is lifted; I look at least five years younger. I don't know what else to say. I feel terrible if anyone has had complications with Dr. Glusac, because we truly feel we couldn't have chosen a better doctor. This turned into quite the novel, coming from someone like me who has never written a single word on a forum and only ever used it for my own research. Now, I feel a sense of obligation to share our experience because this community truly helped me find a doctor who met all our expectations.

I'll post Kcerka's before and after photos tomorrow; she has to help me with it, as I'm not quite sure how to do that part. Greetings to everyone, and I hope you all end up just as happy and satisfied with your results as we are!🙂
