Look, obviously swelling or inflammation changes the shape of your nose. But how much? There's no one-size-fits-all answer here. No two surgeries are identical, tissue damage varies from person to person, and recovery speeds are all over the map.

It is absolutely possible—in fact, it’s almost a guarantee—that the tip of the nose and the surrounding area will be swollen. But listen, seeing exactly how much the swelling went down for Person A versus Person B after a month doesn't actually tell you anything about *your* nose... The info regarding recovery—which can take anywhere from a month to a full year to reach the final look—varies so wildly because patients vary so drastically.

When you're staring at yourself in the mirror every single day, those tiny, gradual shifts after the first month are incredibly hard to spot. That's why I suggested taking photos; it's the only way you'll actually be able to see the difference.

Thanks so much for the reply, I've just been feeling so overwhelmed lately... sometimes it feels like my face is changing from one day to the next. One minute I'm thrilled (like today🙂), and the next I'm totally miserable. Just gotta give it time... patience... wait for the final result... Oh, and side note—I actually burst into tears yesterday and immediately started having a nosebleed... So, yeah, big smiles and trying to stay away from the mirror as much as possible during this phase🙂 Greeting!

Take photos from the front, half-profile, and full profile; then do it again in a month, and then in three. You’ll see the changes much more clearly that way.

First off—and let me be clear here—I have done my homework. I’ve read everything there is to read about pre-op prep and post-op recovery. I am fully aware that swelling can linger for up to a year; that isn't what I'm asking about. Maybe I didn't phrase my question quite right, so let me try again... I’m looking for actual, lived experience from someone who’s been through this. How much does the swelling actually change the look of the nose? Like, how much does that inflammation truly distort the final shape? Where is the swelling usually most prominent? Is it even possible that I have swelling concentrated in the columella area? Right now, my nostrils look huge and flared, and the tip looks wide too... Is it possible that once the swelling finally subsides, that part will shrink down? Or is it just anyone's guess at this point? And one more thing... once the surgery was wrapped up, my doctor told me—and I am quoting him directly here—"You have a small nose now; we completely shortened it." Now, I didn't start out with a massive nose; I just had a prominent bump and slightly wider nostrils. So, is the swelling really making my nose look that much bigger, or was my doctor being a bit dramatic? That’s why I’m feeling so let down—I was genuinely expecting the result he promised me.
I really need some help here—I had my mask removed 13 days ago... and honestly, I’m just not happy with how things look right now. Does the nose continue to change shape significantly after this? How much more shifting should I expect, and which parts of the nose typically deal with the most swelling? When am I actually going to see the final result, or is this basically it? Thanks so much for any insight you guys can give me...

ps. This was specifically for removing a hump. The bridge looks straight now, but it feels like the tip is drooping way too much—either the columella is still swollen or it’s just hanging low! It looks so long and huge right now, which is nothing like how it used to look; I only ever had the hump to deal with before. I am seriously freaking out here—is this just massive swelling, or is the damage already done???
