Yeah, you definitely need to go in and ask. It really just comes down to which doctor you end up seeing—everyone has their own way of doing things.
If we're strictly talking about aesthetics, I don't think anyone would actually want to undergo that kind of surgery in a hospital setting. It's more likely you'd look at something like a septoplasty combined with some minor cosmetic tweaks. In that case, you’d probably head to a private clinic—you're looking at roughly $2,500, though that really depends on which specialist you choose and the full scope of what you're having done.
Feel free to jump in and correct me if I've got my facts wrong!
No problem at all!

I know that feeling so well—when you finally feel like you can actually catch your breath again. There’s honestly nothing better than that relief 🙂
How long has it been since your surgery?

Honestly, the first time I looked in the mirror, I was pretty crushed. Between the swelling and my nose looking like something you could practically inhale, it wasn't exactly the "wow" moment I expected. But—and this is important because everyone heals differently—within just a month, things started looking completely different. You really just have to hang in there and be patient. Dr. Džepina warned me about all of this beforehand, which definitely helped me stay calm while waiting for the results to settle.
Yeah, true. But honestly, that was five years ago—I don't remember all the tiny details anymore. All I know is that I received great care at the Mayo Clinic under Dr. Džepina. I ended up with an infection because we were moving into a new apartment right after being discharged from the hospital, so there was this massive cleaning marathon going on. Everything just got irritated from all those harsh cleaning supplies. Luckily, it passed pretty quickly—the infection and the swelling both cleared up fast.
Recovery is such a personal journey—everyone’s body reacts differently. For instance, I didn't deal with any major swelling or bruising at all.

Haha, just give yourself a little more grace! If you follow what the doctors say, I'm sure you'll start feeling so much better in about two weeks. 🙂 It's going to be worth every bit of this struggle 🙂
Thanks so much 🙂

I personally didn't deal with any weird smells, but the inflammation was definitely nasty. It’ll pass, though—don't sweat it too much 🙂
Does anyone happen to know if Dr. Davor Džepina is still practicing over at the Vinogradski clinic? Also, has anyone here actually used their Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance at his facility before? I'm just curious about how the whole process works—is it pretty seamless or a bit of a headache?
