Tomorrow marks exactly one month since my surgery, and honestly, things have calmed down so much in the last week or so. You can't even feel any swelling anymore, let alone see it... I guess things healed pretty fast for me 🤔 even though it felt like forever. When the swelling moved down to my lower cheeks, I looked like a chipmunk 😁 plus my nose tip was still puffed up, so I was basically a cross between a chipmunk and a teddy bear 😁

It took about ten days for me. After five or six days, my eyes started swelling up, and then the swelling moved to my cheeks—and that was all after ten days. 😉

Has anyone here who had septum surgery dealt with a weird smell inside their nose? 😕 I'm guessing it's just some random inflammation while everything heals, but it's honestly pretty gross whenever it happens. 😢

but it’s not that bad! That was my first time staying overnight at a hospital too, but the staff was awesome and I felt better pretty fast 🙂 It’s just a little awkward that first night before surgery, you know? Just waiting around. But after that, it's fine 🙂

The only thing anyone in my family has ever had done was ear surgery, and you don't stay overnight for that, so I'm totally out of the loop here 😬

And I think my correction would be pretty minor, like just narrowing the nostrils, not like having to shrink the whole bridge and fix a bump... I'm not saying it'd be tiny, just smaller than some other procedures.. 🙂

Like I mentioned above 🙂 maybe around 5 days, though the swelling hangs around a bit longer for me 😉 I'm only bringing up the correction because when I talked to my doctor, I told him that since he was already going in, he could touch up a few things even though I wasn't really unhappy. He decided to try and straighten things out just a tiny bit without overdoing it, but in the end, that "little" tweak made the surgery take way longer and I ended up looking like I got hit by a truck 😁 I mean, obviously he was grinding bone, whereas yours is "just" soft tissue, but I don't know how that works, so that's why I'm asking 😉

I have a pretty standard nose but a slight deviated septum (which kills me whenever I have a cold, allergies hit, or when the AC kicks in), though I’d like to tweak it a bit (narrow it slightly since my nostrils seem kind of wide, if that makes sense). So, the correction would be minimal, but it would mean a lot to me... and the main reason for the surgery would be that septum. Before I developed allergies, things were okay, but now my nose is trashed (my right nostril is totally blocked) from Easter until we hit the coast in August (it finally cleared up then, maybe because of the salt air and stuff). Of course, winter is coming, and the central blockage and constant issues are really bothering me.
Basically, in a year, I can only breathe normally for about two months. 😬

I can only tell you how it was for me, since I'm still recovering so it's all still fresh. 😁 My surgery was on Oct 18th. The first 36 hours were rough, but 😲 once the swelling started and the bruising kicked in, I was so swollen my eyes were almost completely shut (I wouldn't even let my parents or friends come see me)... but after those first two or three days, it starts going down really fast (except for my swelling, mine was super stubborn). The only thing was two spots under my eyes and some bruising that reached my chin (like blue lines on each side of my mouth) that hung around stubbornly for about ten days after the surgery, but by then I was already socially acceptable. 😉 My nose was still swollen then, but not enough for strangers to notice, and I just covered the bruises with makeup. 😉 As for the pain, honestly, during the worst first two days I was getting Ketorolac via IV, and it worked so fast I can't even say I suffered. It only started hurting after I laughed like an idiot in the room because I was with such great company, and we were all collectively passing around Ibuprofen. 😁 Now, just two or three days later, the swelling has totally deflated—even I can tell—while other people haven't noticed anything for a while now 😉 except that it looks a little different.
Regarding the cosmetic part, only a doctor can really decide if it counts as a "minor" correction, no matter how small the change is, because it depends on what they actually have to do to fix it... hope this helps at least a little. 😉

I think the average is about 5 days, but honestly, it just depends on how you heal. I ended up staying an extra day because besides the bruising, the swelling was pretty bad and I needed dexamethasone shots.

My doctor and two anesthesiologists all told me no way. It's because they need to monitor my vitals during the procedure using that little clip they put on your finger—I think it's called a pulse oximeter 😁—to check my oxygen levels!

I couldn't really change anything back when my septum was leaned way over to the left, like, totally... and yeah, it feels way better now, but since everything inside is still super swollen and feels off, I think that's the issue. It probably just needs time for the lining to heal up 😉

The right nostril feels fine, but the left one is basically non-existent—it’s like a whole new world for me 😁 once he pulled those nasal tampons out, I got so dizzy from taking a breath. Sooooo much oxygen, I was honestly thrilled 🙂

Hey everyone! So, tomorrow marks exactly one week since my septorhinoplasty at the hospital, and I wanted to share my experience to hopefully encourage anyone out there terrified about getting their septum corrected! First off, the doctors, nurses, and the entire staff were beyond kind—even during the night shift! 🙂 Vagić performed my surgery, and honestly, if I ever needed this again, he’d be my guy. The man is pure talent; just incredibly skilled and professional. It was my first time ever going under general anesthesia, which was nerve-wracking, but everything went smoothly (aside from some muscle aches the first couple of days). My biggest hurdle was the swelling during the first 36 hours. That was actually five times worse than the pain itself. The "pain" was more like a massive headache—it wasn't even my nose hurting as much as my jaw and face, almost like a brutal sinus infection. As for bruising, I think I might have been a bit of an outlier because they told me they hadn't seen a case like mine in at least two weeks, so 😁 I can't really use them as a benchmark. Today we had the cast removed, and the bruising is clearing up crazy fast! It's already turning brown and yellow, and it hasn't even been a full seven days since the op! I totally thought it would last way longer. My nose is still swollen, especially the tip and the lower part of my cheeks near my jaw, but overall, recovery is quick 🙂 (I mean my personal feeling and the colors on my face; obviously, the nose takes about six months to fully heal)
Anyway, I hope this helps someone out. Now I'm just gonna go back to taking care of my nose 😁 which I can finally, FINALLY breathe through after 25 years!! 😁

They didn't really explain anything when I booked the surgery, and I'm assuming it's the day before, but I have no clue how the process actually works 🤷

Hey ladies... first time posting here... I've got a little "issue"... I've been on birth control for almost a year now, and it's totally stopped my crazy painful periods... but here's the thing... a while back, I "skipped" a period using them, and about a week after when I should've had it, I started getting this weird discharge that lasted until my next cycle. I read online that it's normal when you skip a month (I'm on Sprintec, by the way)... but now it's the next month, and I'm supposed to start my period in 6 days, but for a few days now, I've been having this heavy, bloody, slimy discharge, and my ovaries are kind of aching... it’s not intense pain, more like just feeling them there...😢...anyone else dealt with this?.. please tell me it's nothing serious... I have an appointment with my OBGYN in two weeks for my first ultrasound, but I could really use some reassurance right now.😢...😢
