In the US, this kind of thing happens all the time and nobody gets penalized for it. Second, nobody is offended here. I edited the post in the thread, just like you deleted a bunch of my other posts... do you honestly think I spend time typing out a post just so I can watch it get nuked? Whether it was a mistake or not, it was mine. If I didn't insult anyone or cause actual trouble, then you don't have any business breathing down my neck about it. Honestly, it feels more like you're just acting on personal preferences regarding who you like and who you don't.

Moderation shouldn't be about blindly following rules like a robot; use some common sense. It’s obvious who's being malicious and who's just here to relax and have a laugh. If you start handing out sanctions to the people just trying to hang out, that isn't moderation—it's just garbage.

Yeah, yeah, I’d probably ask you all what you’d do if you were in my shoes... but honestly, I kind of earned this one...

I’m stuck trying to figure out if my VGA cable is shot or if the monitor itself is just dead. I don't actually have a spare cable lying around because I gave my last one to my neighbor along with an old IBM CRT. I already tried swapping out the power cord for the monitor, but that didn't fix anything. The PC works perfectly fine at my buddy's place and even at my neighbor's house. Now, I just hooked up this dusty old 17" CRT set to a 1024x768 resolution—this one has a built-in VGA cable—and everything works fine. So yeah, it's definitely the monitor. I'm taking it back to the store for a refund tomorrow.

Maybe I went a little too hard on my rig... looks like my monitor just bit the dust. I’ve even got that dreaded yellow exclamation mark popping up next to it in Device Manager.

Look, I paid a premium for my Crosshair II formula, probably around $600 if I recall correctly... and my processor back then was sitting at about $500, some quad-core Phenom... how does Intel release a Celeron for $100 and expect it to actually perform decently?

I had a Commodore when I was eight, and now I'm thirty-eight. This AMD gear is basically selling junk instead of actual microprocessors. You buy a dual-core chip and they tell you it's four cores, but if you actually unlock those extra cores, the audio driver fails every other reboot. You buy a GPU and the fan falls apart immediately. You pick up a $500 processor and a $667 motherboard, and you end up with a machine that runs twice as slow as an Intel build and constantly stutters. If you try to go mainstream, you just get a glorified space heater with a 220W TDP that sounds like a jet engine taking off under any kind of load. Instead of an old-school 486, you buy AMD and deal with a BSOD every two days. I really hoped they'd finally learned something by now, so I picked this one up, but I'm disappointed again. I'd already promised myself I wouldn't touch anything low-end from those losers ever again.

You’re being ridiculous. I know plenty of people—myself included, since I run two AMD-based rigs—who don't have any issues at all.

Either you messed up the configuration, or you're running a garbage copy of macOS.

Harold Lewis32 said:It's not an AMD issue, just a "you" issue.

What exactly am I supposed to know here? I did a clean install just last month—did everything by the book, wiped the OS, installed all the drivers, and it worked perfectly. Now, I’m following the exact same process on the same machine, and it’s completely broken. Their drivers are a total mess. They released some hotfix specifically for discrete graphics, which basically leaves those of us using APUs out in the cold until they actually decide to fix their act. Honestly, if we were dealing with Intel and NVIDIA like we have been for the last thirty years, we wouldn't be dealing with this kind of nonsense in our wildest dreams.

Woke up this morning, brewed my coffee, and was just getting ready to head out for a surf when suddenly—black screen and those spinning loading circles... right in the middle of working! I started cursing Microsoft, waited an hour thinking maybe the damn thing would just finish its business, but nothing. Ended up doing a clean install since it wasn't budging. Windows boots back up, starts hunting for GPU drivers, finds them, downloads them, but then during the installation, all you hear is the constant sound of devices connecting and disconnecting for a solid hour... meanwhile, I'm staring at a black screen the whole time. Finally, the desktop pops up only to tell me "something went wrong." No fucking kidding? I tried installing the drivers manually, but it’s the same exact mess. This time I rebooted, went into Safe Mode, and set it to the Microsoft Basic Adapter. Then I went back into Windows and tried to roll back to older drivers, but it wouldn't let me, claiming the "best driver is already installed." Are you kidding me? I'm ripping this motherboard out, swapping in my old rig (Intel), and putting this Intel garbage up for sale. I have zero interest in waiting around for some big corporation to actually release drivers that work properly. I bet these guys can barely figure out how to grill a burger, let alone design processors and drivers.

You can grab an RX 460 for about a hundred bucks now.

That processor is alright. Even though it's an old relic... let him grab whatever he wants.

I have absolutely no clue what this iPun thing is. A warranty courier who comes to your house to pick up the product? WTF?

I'm torn between this Gigabyte model and the MSI Armor. I haven't decided which is better yet. I need to do some more digging.

Regarding Flatron TNX—I had a bad experience with them, so there is zero chance I'm going with AMD right now. Maybe I was too hasty, but I'd rather just grab a weaker card or pay a premium. Their product longevity really let me down. Maybe I'll give them another shot someday.

How about this?

Sorry, meant this:

It's from a great shop, but it's pretty pricey. It might actually be smarter to just buy it from Protis.

I haven't seen it anywhere else at this price point. Is that Protis deal actually legit when it comes to the warranty and stuff?
Looking for any other solid recommendations under $833. Just please, let it be Nvidia.
Running an i5-3570K with a CX 500 power supply, looking for 1920x1200 resolution.

I picked up a case from them recently. It arrived super fast, was packed perfectly, and was brand new. I haven't had any reason to return anything yet, so I can't speak to their service if things go wrong, but so far, so good.

He actually needs a CPU upgrade, not a new graphics card....

How much does VRAM actually impact performance? Or, what is the point of having more of it in the first place?

I saw they have a used LC Power Silver unit for $63 over at Best Buy... It’s "used" only because they used it for testing in-store, so it just has a few minor scratches, but they're still giving you a two-year warranty on it.

I honestly think you just blew some good luck his way, kind of like when your wife blows on the dice at a casino table...

Your GPU is pulling maybe 80W at most, and the rest of your setup probably sits around 30W... honestly, that LC Power Silver unit from Amazon would be a perfect fit for you.
