Of course you can go diving! Honestly, hitting the ocean is probably the best thing you could do right now—saltwater is legendary for helping you bounce back faster. It’s like nature's own recovery tool.
Look, at the end of the day, your doctor is going to give you the full rundown way better than I ever could. It’s just common sense—you know how it goes, different doctors always have different takes on the exact same thing. One guy says one thing, another specialist says the complete opposite, and suddenly you're stuck in the middle of it all. 😁
Who are you heading to see? Sry if you already posted that...
Anyway, good luck with the surgery!! Fingers crossed for you! 👍

Donna Watson80 said:Thanks, man. I’m really hoping things start moving along a bit faster and that the whole recovery process doesn't drag on forever. Fingers crossed. 🙂

Finally, I'm back in action. Recovery is officially complete. 😁
Angela Morales69 said:Anybody? Please send some photos. I promise I'll send some back to you guys after my surgery—I might even pull the trigger on it sooner than a year from now, depending on when things quiet down at work and I can actually get some time off.

Just sent them over.
Kate Taylor59 said:after surgery... I mean, was it actually brutal? Like, would you ever go through with it again? Honestly, you’d need some serious nerves of steel to handle something like that...

For me, it wasn't bad at all. Not the first time, not the second. If I could turn back the clock, I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. 👍
Donna Watson80 said:I've got a quick question for you guys. I'm heading in for nose surgery pretty soon, and I was wondering how long I need to stay out of the sun once I'm on the mend? Also, am I going to be able to get back to scuba diving in the ocean anytime soon?

Look, I’m pretty sure you shouldn't just be out there exposing your nose to the direct sun for an entire month straight. That's a recipe for disaster. Honestly, just grab a baseball cap or some kind of sun hat and call it a day—problem solved. 😁
Of course you can go diving! Honestly, if you're looking to bounce back quickly, you really can't beat the ocean. There's something about that saltwater that just hits different when you're trying to recover. It’s basically nature's way of helping you reset.
Look, at the end of the day... your doctor is going to give you the actual lowdown way better than I ever could. It’s just common sense, really—you ask three different specialists in this country the same question, and you'll get three different answers. It's practically a rule. 😁
So, who are you heading to see? Sry if you already posted this somewhere else...
Anyway, sending you all the good vibes for the surgery! You've got this. 👍
silverharbor18 said:I have.... a question. Actually, more like a massive headache
(Not sure if anyone else has brought this up yet; I honestly couldn't be bothered to scroll through 223 pages)

I had nose surgery almost 6 months ago, and for the most part, everything seems fine, except for one thing—the mucus! It’s driving me absolutely insane. My nose is constantly stuffed up with this gunk, but I can't blow it out normally. The only way I get any relief is if I blast my nose with some saline spray like NeilMed, otherwise, I feel like I have to physically fish it out with a Q-tip (with a little tissue wrapped around the end, obviously... a standard Q-tip is just too thick to work with). I can't even describe it properly; it's weird. It wasn't like this before. It's just... unusually sticky.
........

I'm not really sure what to tell you... "Strange mucus," huh? Hahaha. So, what exactly did they operate on? Did they do laser surgery on your turbinates? Maybe they just need more time to heal. Or maybe you damaged the lining before and now it's slowly trying to clear itself out. Or, honestly, maybe they just totally screwed it up. 😁
If I were you, I'd just hang in there a bit longer. It can take a year or two for the mucous membranes to fully recover. Personally, I bought some saline solution (the 0.5L bottle is only about $3.25 at the CVS) and I've been rinsing my nose with it every single morning for two months now. You'll need a syringe and a needle for it. You just fill the syringe up a bit and spray it into one nostril, then the other... then blow your nose. I've been doing this for two months and I can breathe so much better. Give it a shot, you've got nothing to lose.
mellowowl83 said:What’s the damage if I go private? And how long am I looking at if I try to get this done through the public hospital system?

You're probably looking at around $2,200 to $14,000... $6000...it really just depends on which clinic you pick and what kind of surgery we're talking about. If it's purely cosmetic, it’s cheaper. If you need it for function *plus* aesthetics, the price jumps. And don't even get me started on revision surgeries—those will cost you a premium too.
Plus, the experience varies wildly depending on where you go. Let me give you my own horror story: I spent an entire morning stuck in a massive line just to get scheduled for a consultation... they finally gave me an appointment for a month later. When I finally showed up for that consult (after more waiting, obviously), the whole thing lasted maybe five minutes. All I walked away with was being told I have a deviated septum—which, newsflash, I already knew—and that I needed surgery. They scheduled the actual procedure for two months after that little chat. Total waste of time if you ask me.
On the flip side, I tried a private specialist: I showed up for my scheduled appointment, we actually had a real conversation about everything, and I had the surgery booked within two weeks. The results? Totally worth it! 😁
stormydrifter11 said:Hey ladies, quick question—is anyone else dealing with some seriously brutal nose pain? It’s been killing me for the last couple of days. I’m just coming up on a month since my surgery, maybe a little less than that, but man, this discomfort is no joke. Is it just me, or is this actually normal?
Is it just the weather acting up, or am I actually losing my mind? Seriously, I feel like I'm about to start banging my head against a wall just to distract myself from this damn headache. 🙂

I’ve never actually dealt with any pain from it myself. I have this one friend who had nose surgery quite a few years back, and she swears it still aches whenever the weather shifts. So... honestly, there's a chance that's exactly what's going on. 😁
stormyharbor2 said:Not really. In my case, the profile view looked super upturned at first, but now it's definitely dropped. The whole shape of my nose is just totally different.

I wasn't even thinking about that... I mean, obviously it’s going to drop as the swelling goes down. I was talking about the actual width of the nose from all that bone swelling... the tip shape... just the general look from the front. You honestly have to wait at least 6 months to see the real deal. And once those 6 months pass, nobody is ever crawling back to their surgeon unless they're seriously unhappy with 😁 , so you won't even find anyone left to take photos of...
Kate Taylor59 said:Why do they never post front-facing photos (doctors and stuff...)? It’s always just side profiles. I really need to see them head-on because looking at them from the side doesn't tell me anything...

Ugh, tell me about it. I went through the exact same thing.
I honestly think it's because it takes forever for the nose to actually settle into its final shape when viewed from the front, whereas you can pretty much snap a decent side profile shot almost immediately after the procedure.😁
stormyharbor2 said:Straight and pointy? Are those the ones Miller claimed were considered "modern" back in the day and supposedly make a woman's face look too masculine?🤣 Honestly, I’m down for pretty much any shape, as long as they aren't tiny, too narrow, overly hooked, super bulbous, or just plain fake-looking. 😂 And obviously, I’m not a fan of crooked noses—unless we're talking about guys. 😬

hahahahaha, probably! Look, I'm not picky either! The hardest part is definitely finding the perfect match for yourself. Thank God Miller picked out my nose for me, because if he hadn't... I'd be kicking myself for the rest of my life (or at least until my next surgery). 😁 😂
Megan Moore76 said:Personally, I’m leaning more toward flatter noses rather than those upturned ones. But honestly, it’s all about facial harmony and what actually works for a specific face. Like, if you ask me, Nicole Kidman would probably look better with a slightly longer, more sculpted nose.

I’ve always been a fan of those straight, pointed noses. Then again, I’m stuck with this tiny little button nose myself. 😁 Not everything that looks good on paper actually suits everyone. 😁
stormyharbor2 said:Angelina’s profile is actually pretty wild. When you guys were talking about "flatness," I totally thought you meant her profile view instead of looking at her head-on...

Man, I 😁
Kate Taylor59 said:And what about Miller... are his noses smaller? I know they’re a bit fleshy, which I actually dig... but I really want a smaller nose myself... nothing tiny, just balanced... because I have small eyes and this massive nose 👎

Mine is pretty small and a little fleshy... not tiny, not overly thick either. Honestly, I don't know how the others look. I've seen photos of noses from a few people on here, and they all looked great in their own way. They weren't clones, either. Some were straight, some were fleshy, some were small, some were just "not big." 🙂
I totally forgot to mention... the noses for the Smiths tend to have a slight downward slope. (Just a heads up, though... that's just based on the ones I've personally seen, so don't take it as gospel for everyone)

I think at the end of the day, the most important thing is knowing exactly what look you're going for. Pick a surgeon who clicks with you and then sit them down and explain—really, *really* clearly—exactly what you want. 😁
Megan Moore76 said:Oops, think it's fixed now 🙂

Anyway, where are we even supposed to see Dr. Smith's work if he doesn't even have a website? 🤷 I'm dying to know what his actual vibe is—like, what’s his specific style when it comes to noses?

Nowhere, honestly, unless you happen to run into his former patients. I've actually seen two people who went through him... and I swear, you would never guess they had surgery. Just totally normal, straight noses. Nothing too tiny, nothing overly upturned. So, if you're looking for that super petite or "button" nose look, I don't think he's really your guy. 😁
Emily Reed51 said:At the end of the day, you've gotta have realistic expectations. I’m seeing it all the time—it’s not actually the doctors who let people down; it’s the impossible standards people walk in with.

amberbadger81 said:So, I finally pulled the trigger and scheduled consultations with Bastajić and Glusac for late April! First step is officially done, though I won't lie—I was a nervous wreck. When I called Bastajić, his nurse picked up and she was actually super sweet, but then Glusac took over. Good grief, the guy talks a mile a minute! I could barely keep up with him!!!! But honestly, he really does come off as that super laid-back, chill type everyone mentioned, even just over the phone. Fingers crossed one of them ends up being a good fit for me!

He’s always answering on both his cell and his office line at the same time. 😁

Good luck!
Kate Taylor59 said:Oh man, my bad! I had no idea you actually went to see Dr. Glusac... honestly, now I’m low-key terrified for you.🙄

I don’t even know how to describe this sensation—it’s just this weird, off-kilter feeling that I can't quite put a finger on. It’s uncomfortable, sure, but it passes so fast that it isn't exactly a catastrophe... at least, not for me. 😁
Sophia Hill22 said:rustygardener172 What even is a "ball-shaped tip"? I honestly can't tell what we're looking at from these photos. 😕

Honestly, you could see the shape much better from the profile view than from the front. In my profile shot, my nose has this smooth, rounded look... and while the tip was all swollen up, it actually followed that nice curve perfectly before hitting a little semicircle at the end—kind of like someone tucked a small ball right under the tip. I really hope that makes sense now. Anyway, the swelling has finally gone down, and let me tell you, my profile looks absolutely gorgeous right now! 😍
Kate Taylor59 said:I'm seriously happy for you 🙂 but honestly, you already had a narrow bridge compared to mine... I have no clue how they're going to fix my situation... my nose is just straight-up massive... plus, the doctor told me he has to lower the whole thing... the entire length... while lifting the tip🤷

That’s exactly why he didn't touch my tip... he said it was narrow enough already... he actually mentioned that if my nostrils were slimmer, the tip would match mine perfectly... basically said it’d be crazy to mess with something that isn't broken.
If your whole nose is wide... you absolutely have to emphasize that you want them to slim down the tip too... because if they just narrow the bridge and leave the tip alone, the tip is going to look way too chunky for your face once the surgery is done.
For everyone who’s been following my updates...

...it’s officially been 6 months since my surgery. I finally noticed that the "bulbous" tip is gone—the swelling has finally decided to pack its bags and leave. During my last check-up, Dr. Glusac mentioned that my nose will probably look even slimmer once all the residual bone swelling settles down, but honestly? I’m not seeing much change there yet. For now, I’m perfectly happy with how narrow it looks. As long as that weird "ball" shape is a thing of the past, I'm winning. 😍
