My nose gets really swollen right when I wake up, then it subsides during the day, and it just keeps cycling like that. I'm wondering how long this might actually last?

Also, does anyone else notice their nose color looks different from the rest of their face? I don't mean that part where the skin meets the bone. My nose just looks... burnt? Or like I scrubbed it too hard or something. It definitely wasn't like this before.

I'm dealing with the exact same thing with my nose. Literally identical. I had my surgery on April 8th. The profile looks great, but honestly, my face still feels puffy. It’s pretty bad, especially in the mornings. I find myself constantly angling myself so people only see me from the side.
What are we supposed to do about this? Is there actually a solution out there?

I had my nose surgery with Dr. Glušac about 10 days ago. Everything went incredibly smooth—honestly, so much praise for the doctor! I didn't feel any pain at all (even though I was totally expecting some discomfort once the anesthesia wore off, but wow, nothing happened). It’s almost like I wasn't even operated on. They didn't use general anesthesia, just a heavy local one, so I didn't deal with any nausea or feeling sick when I woke up. Not one bit. I just drifted off slightly and then woke up feeling fine, dreaming a little too! And the crazy thing is, I hadn't eaten or drunk anything for two hours before the procedure. My doctor explained that he uses really modern anesthesia techniques so you don't get nauseous, plus he has a great anesthesiologist... also, a huge shoutout to the whole staff, they were wonderful! 👍
Once I woke up and "came to," I just headed home.

The next day, I went back to the clinic to have the packing removed, and oh man, it was such a relief because breathing through my mouth was awful—everything felt so dry... 😠 And it's actually great that they remove the packing the very next day; for me, it was a lifesaver! If I was scared of anything regarding this surgery, it was definitely having that packing in—like two feet of gauze shoved up there, terrifying. But this doctor doesn't use those big old gauze strips; he uses a sponge that's much easier and faster to pull out. It's a little awkward, but it doesn't hurt since the sponge is only about 8 inches long (I saw it when he pulled it out). So, that part went smoothly too!
My cast was taken off after five days, though he left a few small bandages on my nose which I took off two days later.

I should mention that Dr. Glušac performs the rhinoplasty using a closed technique, meaning he doesn't open the whole nose, but works through one nostril with his instruments—it's a great method: faster recovery and less bruising.

You guys probably want to know about the bruising... you're bound to get some, but it varies from person to person. On a scale of 1 to 5, I was a 3. I had some, but nothing major! Today is day ten and I still have a tiny bit left; I can just cover it with concealer and it'll definitely be gone in a few days. My nose is still a bit swollen, too. From the profile, it looks great, but when I look straight in the mirror, I look like Miss Piggy. I'm hoping that clears up in about 10 days.
The price was 10 $0.00, and the follow-up appointments are free! I didn't even pay for the first consultation, and I don't have any special connections or anything.
If you have any questions, I'm here! Hope I helped!

Hey,

Thanks for being so detailed with the info. You might not visit this forum much anymore, but hey, I'll try my luck and see if you respond.
Now that some time has passed, how does your nose look? I hope you're happy with it. I'm actually thinking about going to Dr. Glušac myself because I've seen some of his work and really liked it.
I would be so grateful if you could send me a photo of your nose after the surgery via private message.
PS. I also hate looking like Miss Piggy :-(
Elizabeth Collins5 said:I wanted to share my own experience here too. I spent about ten years debating whether or not to go through with surgery. Now that it’s all behind me, I actually regret not doing it sooner—it really helped me get over this massive complex I had.
Unlike some of the noses being discussed on this forum, mine genuinely needed work (not that I'm judging anyone else's need for it, of course).
Basically, I had a really unattractive nose. I’d say my nose was practically a twin to Zlatan Ibrahimović 😂. Just imagine a huge, masculine, bony nose sitting on a woman's face... just awful!
It wasn't until my consultations that I realized I didn't just need cosmetic changes, but functional ones too. I had a deviated septum and some cartilage that had "popped" to the right side, which made my right nostril significantly smaller. I'd always just assumed that was normal 😂.
The only thing I was truly terrified of before the surgery was waking up mid-procedure, a fear I actually picked up from reading this thread, haha.
The surgery itself, while a bit more difficult than expected, went without any major issues. Aside from the needle prick in my vein
, nothing really hurt. But unlike some of you, things weren't perfectly smooth immediately after. I had a hard time with the anesthesia and vomited blood twice, though I was eating ground beef patties 😂 shortly after that. My bruising lasted longer than average—about 20 days. And now, there's still some yellowing where the bruises used to be. I dealt with low blood pressure, and that dizzy, "swaying" feeling in my head lasted for about 15 days. Around day 20, one of my stitches got inflamed, and my face (especially my forehead) felt swollen. Usually, swelling isn't an issue for me. Also, I didn't have much luck with the packing removal; that was incredibly painful. It's a very sharp, intense pain, but thankfully it's over quickly. Breathing through my mouth wasn't too bad at all. The hardest part of the whole recovery was sleeping on my back, since I'm just not used to sleeping like that.
As for the results, I’d say I’m about 80% satisfied, and I'm hoping that remaining 20% will come with time. Even though it's been over a month since the surgery, my nose is still quite swollen, and I feel like I'm healing much slower than others. I asked the doctor for three specific things: that the nose wouldn't look too small (like B. Vlašić's), that it wouldn't be overly upturned (again, like B. Vlašić), and that it wouldn't look too "saddle-shaped." I think the doctor respected those wishes.
Regarding the surgical team, I have nothing but praise for them, so 👍. Oh, and I almost forgot—I had the procedure done by Dr. Glušac in Makarska.
All in all, even considering all those little hiccups during recovery, if you ask me if I'd do it again, the answer is an absolute yes 😁.

I'll send photos via DM. If anyone wants to know anything else, feel free to ask 😉.

Hi, thanks for such a detailed breakdown from start to finish. My situation is almost identical, and Dr. Glušac is actually one of my top choices. Would it be possible to see some photos?
Brandon Hughes7 said:Hey everyone on the forum. Checking in from Banjaluka, Canada. I'm actually planning to go in for nose surgery with Dr. Glusca in a few days... Does anyone have any before and after photos they could share? rustygardener172, looks like you're really happy with yours?

Thanks so much!

Hi there, Brandon Hughes7!
Wishing you all the best with your surgery. Please, please check back in once it's done—Dr. Glusca is actually one of my top choices too. I'm looking at getting my own procedure sometime in the next month or two, just currently stuck in that phase of trying to decide which surgeon to go with. Honestly, rustygardener172's nose looks absolutely STUNNING!!!!
Nancy Perez74 said:stormyharbor2, now that you mention that specific hooked nose shape that isn't for everyone—I remember my surgeon asking me several times before the procedure: "But what if the nose doesn't end up hooked? Are you going to kill me then?" (or maybe he meant "Are you going to kill yourself?") It always felt so weird to me, why would he even ask that?? Now I get it—it's because my nose isn't actually hooked... he obviously knew the whole time, I mean, he's clearly not some random amateur.😕

Both you and rustygardener172 saw the photo and agreed the nose doesn't have that hooked look—but it’s not just that; you both noticed the bump that's still there... so on top of everything, the nose is uneven too, like a messy icing job at the end. I'm responding here to rustygardener172 who asked me if it just looked that way in the photo or if there really is a bump. YES—there is a bump, and it's visible! I honestly don't know what to do... whether I should go in for another surgery or not. I'm not exactly Rockefeller, you know, I can't afford to undergo sixteen nose jobs like Pisek does...

stormyharbor2,
did you end up having your surgery?

Nancy Perez74, who did your nose work?
rustygardener172 said:I’m curious too... what’s the word on the street? Because I personally know about 6 or 7 people who went to him and they were all happy with the results, just like I was.

rustygardener172...??
Question for rustygardener172 and Amy Rodriguez4:
rustygardener172, would you mind sending over some photos of your nose, like before and after the surgery?
Did they use the closed technique on you?
Amy Rodriguez4, did you end up doing anything about your nose?
Hey everyone on the Forum.
I’ve gone through almost all the threads here. Honestly, I’m really interested in getting my nose done. I start with this idea, get so close to actually doing it, and then... I just freeze. It’s been happening for a few years now. I guess I'm just terrified of the final aesthetic result. Like everyone else, I've spent endless hours scrolling through forums, watching clips, checking clinic websites, you know? The irony—if you can even call it that—is that I haven't found a single doctor in Mexico or Mexico whose work I actually liked. I went to a couple of consultations, sent out emails, got replies...
I saw Dr. Glusca's work on YouTube and checked out the photos on his website. I actually reached out to him and sent over some pictures, and he gave me a response that was... okay, somewhat satisfying. If anyone has a spare moment and doesn't mind, could someone who has actually been to see Dr. Glusca let me know how they felt about the results? Or maybe if you have recommendations for another surgeon? My other favorite is Dr. Toncic. Anyway, I'm based out of Podgorica :-)
Does anyone happen to know anything about Dr. Glušac? I heard he uses some really advanced techniques for nose surgery over in the States.
Actually, I'm originally from Mexico, and I've been seriously considering getting a rhinoplasty after stumbling upon his work on YouTube.
Thanks
