I think it’s better if a child isn't burdened with the truth just yet—they'll eventually figure it out on their own once they're old enough.

The "underwhelming" part is probably just because she looks like a normal 18-year-old girl—no fake eyelashes, no drawn-on brows, tons of makeup, a nose thin as paper, or half a gallon of silicone in every curve.☕

An American mother who abandons her child usually has a reasonable window of time to change her mind before the child is taken away.
A father like that isn't needed by anyone, I guess. It's better for the kid to grow up peacefully with their mother. Or, if it's the father's turn, without the mother.

Again, when a mother thinks like that, she's putting herself and her own hurt feelings first, rather than focusing on the child.
There are plenty of abandoned kids who have wonderful adoptive parents and still want to meet their biological ones eventually.
Similarly, you have parents who change their minds later and want more involvement in the child's life—and the other parent shouldn't block that, assuming the child actually wants that extra time too.

Look, I get it—he might not be able to play a hands-on role in raising her. I know of a case where a married man was actually the father of a little girl, yet he still made sure to see her whenever the opportunity arose.🤷

You don't really have much of a choice here—a child needs both a father and a mother. If the other parent happens to change their mind, maybe we should give that kid a chance to actually have a father in their life.

Sure, they all need love from both parents, but there's plenty of research out there regarding how attached young girls are to their fathers. Their approval and support during those formative years can shape their future success.

In the end, once the little guy grows up, he'll probably just head straight back to his father. It's happened before—take that case with Anđela Marić, for instance. She fought tooth and nail for custody for years, only for the kid to turn thirteen and decide he wanted to live with his dad anyway.

I really hope he changes his mind—especially since there are already two other kids involved. That little girl is their sister, after all.
It’s possible he just snapped in the heat of the moment, though I suppose walking away from your own kid isn't exactly a simple impulse. Given the legal paperwork involved, it’s probably more likely that he’s just a complete jerk.

Exactly. Especially for a girl 😢—and for daughters, I think it's incredibly vital that their father loves them and actually shows up.

I honestly don't get people who turn their backs on their own kids. If things didn't work out with the mother—and I guess that's nobody's fault, really—it doesn't justify abandoning the child. ☕

The pork from Meline looks pretty decent. You can't even see any traces of lard in it—which I guess is supposed to be a selling point.
The bacon from dustypilot11 doesn't look great, though—at least the vegetables are 👍
