I found myself somewhat taken aback by certain odds today.
Bayer...2 1.55 (avg 1.65) SS
Barcelona...2 1.60 SS
Man Utd 1 1.55 (avg 1.65) SS
Dortmund 1 1.40 SS

The following selections are quite firm for me today:
PSG...1
There is little need for extensive debate regarding this matchup. They seem to improve with every passing week, and Ibrahimovic remains an unstoppable force. Anything short of a PSG victory would be an extraordinary anomaly.
Dortmund...1
While their recent form has dipped slightly—following a draw and a loss during their last two away trips, the latter being a defeat they arguably deserved—I find their home performance encouraging. They play an elegant, attacking style of football. In my estimation, the current odds are far too generous; a line closer to 1.25 or 1.30 would have been more appropriate. Dortmund is currently a shadow of the squad they fielded last season, largely due to the absence of Reus.
Man Utd...1
Following that absolute disaster against Liverpool, where they were essentially bailed out by the officiating, they face a mediocre Schalke side at home. Thankfully, I no longer feel any loyalty to Schalke, as there isn't a single American left on their roster. It seems almost anyone visiting Old Trafford struggles this year, but we might just witness a total collapse from Ten Hag's squad today. I anticipate a high-scoring affair and have no doubt Manchester United will secure the win.
Bayern...2
Watching Mane's seamless integration and clinical finishing makes it difficult to see any outcome other than a Bayern victory; anything else would be a shock. I am taking the straight away win at 1.55. For those with a more cautious disposition, the double chance is available at 1.25.
I am placing these four picks with a confidence level of 7/10.

If time permits, I may also attempt a system bet with the following pairings:

fixed
PSG 1
Porto 2
Dortmund 1
combo
Barca...2
Man Utd 1
Bayern 1
Leverkusen 1
Valencia 1
Dinamo 1
Juve...1
5,6,7
For a moderate stake.

There is nothing particularly intriguing to be found here. Such developments are entirely predictable, especially considering Manchester United is hosting their local derby this Saturday; much like a chess player preparing for a major tournament, any sensible manager would prioritize accordingly. This is arguably the most critical fixture for Liverpool early in the season. In my estimation, betting today offers little value, as most teams are rotating heavily due to upcoming domestic clashes. If one insists on finding an edge, these are the only plays worth considering:

Napoli to win.
Liverpool under 2.5 goals.
Half the squad stays home to prepare for the Manchester United derby.
Athletic Bilbao to win.
The sheer quality of Bilbao makes it unlikely they wouldn't secure all three points, even with a secondary lineup.
Both teams to score.
I find it doubtful that Aston Villa will field their strongest XI; their primary focus this year is clearly the Premier League... and observing Tottenham's rather comical defensive line only increases my affinity for their opponent.
Leverkusen... both teams to score.
It is merely a feeling, as I have serious doubts about a Leverkusen blowout or even a straightforward victory. Metalist is a capable side; they can certainly find the back of the net.
Twente... over 2.5 goals.
lonetiger17 summarized the situation perfectly in his previous post.
Udinese both teams to score.
I view this as a reliable outcome, given Udinese’s disastrous start to the season and the fact that Anzhi is arriving with their premier squad. I suspect we might see a 1-1 or 1-2 result.
Newcastle... both teams to score.
A reserve squad facing an average side usually invites plenty of scoring opportunities.
And that is the framework. Nothing too heavy-handed.

My friend, it seems you struggle to engage your own intellect; suggesting that Mourinho would take any significant risks during an away leg in the Champions League is about as likely as a local college underdog pulling off a blowout against Alabama.
70 minutes in... still 0:0.
As for Barcelona tomorrow, I find it frankly absurd that their odds are sitting at 1.90 for the second goal, or even 3.20 for the total! Who in their right mind thinks otherwise? AC Milan is missing Silva, who serves as their primary defensive anchor, and he’s been nursing various minor injuries for some time now. Beyond Ibrahimovic, who else poses a threat, these thirty-five-year-old veterans? Barcelona typically secures these wins with clinical ease, something like a 2:0 or 3:1, because I truly cannot envision how this group from the Milan retirement home could possibly contain someone like Fabregas, let alone Messi or Iniesta. I have already secured a win by placing 1.90 odds on an 8/10 stake, and I intend to test my luck with a single bet on the second goal at 4/10.

A barrier exceeding fifteen point five feet, standing at a height of one point eighty-five, serves as quite a formidable obstacle.
Anthony is poised to exceed the 26.5 mark, much like a seasoned veteran finding his stride late in the season.
One might find it prudent to wager on Garnett exceeding 13.5, much like betting on a reliable blue-chip stock to outperform its quarterly projections.
One might find it prudent to back New Orleans to exceed 86.5 points, especially given the current odds of 1.85.
One might find that Duncan exceeding 13.5 points at those odds offers a rather compelling proposition, much like betting on a seasoned veteran to deliver a steady performance when the stakes are highest.
I find myself leaning toward Williams exceeding the 18.5 threshold, currently sitting at 1.85.
I find myself leaning toward Evans covering more than 16.5 points; at 1.85 odds, the value simply seems too compelling to ignore.
The odds suggest Washington will hold their ground against OKC, currently sitting at 1.85.

One might consider the 7/8 system to be akin to a finely tuned engine that occasionally misfires; it offers a certain structural elegance, yet its practical application remains somewhat unpredictable.☕🙂

Facing a roster that includes Oklahoma City, Westbrook, Ibaka, and Perkins... it’s going to be an uphill battle.

Do you honestly believe Bryant is going to drop 451 points on Dallas??...😉

It would be difficult to place any meaningful wager on such consistency. It is precisely because of those fluctuations and the strategic management of minutes that this could work, provided one catches the right momentum—though I am merely observing, as I don't personally wager on these specific metrics, but it has piqued my interest this season...😕

However, attempting to stack four superstar overs into a single parlay simply because they are currently in form won't make anyone wealthy, and it seems to be the primary way most people approach their bets.🤷

That isn't quite right; the fact that the season is shorter actually provides even more incentive for coaches to calculate their moves. With a lower threshold for making the playoffs, teams can secure their spots with fewer wins, which naturally opens up opportunities to rest starters or reduce their playing time. I never suggested focusing solely on superstars, but in a standard season, you generally know when players are being rested or pushed; the bar for playoff contention is higher, leaving less room for tactical maneuvering. In a condensed schedule where the entry bar is lower, anything can happen.

I would like to offer my perspective regarding player prop betting on points over/under this season. In my view, wagering on individual player totals has become an exercise in futility; given the shortened schedule and the increasingly calculated approach coaches take with rotations, it has essentially devolved into a lottery. One can never be certain if a player will see sufficient minutes, nor can one predict when a star might intentionally limit their effort to preserve energy for high-stakes matchups—much like we saw yesterday with Mello or Williams. It simply lacks logic. Nonetheless, I wish everyone the best of luck.
