The donations we've pulled together through the "Blue Umbrella" drive are going to be used to help two families who are currently in a really desperate situation
amberheron64 said:you guys raised a pretty solid amount; I really hope some big-shot celebrity decides to drop a donation regardless of whether people actually buy the umbrellas

they're sleeping on armchairs 😢 ,and here I was thinking my beat-up couch was bad 🙂

Kudos to everyone involved in this drive 👍

Just to be clear, we didn't touch any of the funds from the "Blue Umbrella" campaign for this specific family; we raised everything separately

So far, we've helped them out with one massive grocery haul (basically whatever we could fit in the car), clothes, school supplies for all the kids, and even birthday presents for them
now we've gone ahead and bought the room setup—mattresses, floor mats, blankets, a lamp, storage bins, the whole nine yards...

We also covered their unpaid school lunch debt from last year, and we're planning to cover this year's too

On top of that, we're looking to fix that broken window where they just have a piece of drywall nailed over the opening for now
Look, regardless of how this whole fundraiser shakes out, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America are planning to pick up a bunk bed—you know, the kind with three bunks—for those three boys from that massive family of eleven who are currently stuck sleeping on armchairs

I mean, obviously, any bit of help is going to make a huge difference here

One of those kids actually has a birthday coming up in just five days, so I guess it would be absolutely perfect if we could get this organized and delivered ASAP
So far, we've managed to pull together about $4.75
We've already put about $333 toward emergency relief (enough to cover food for two families)
The Blue Umbrella crew is going to be out at Times Square this weekend from 10 AM to 3 PM, and they'll also be hanging out Downtown from 9 AM to 9 PM
The "business hours" are actually the same for both days, I guess.
So far, the "Blue Umbrella" campaign has pulled in $3.50 and 90 cents
plus 10 bucks 🙂

I know, I know, it doesn't exactly sound like we're breaking the bank here, but look—we still have one more weekend ahead of us and it’s definitely not over yet 🙂
