I saw that, but I'm specifically referring to the exact model (though it's likely fine)

If you're looking to run SolidWorks, you'd actually get better performance out of an AMD graphics card. By the way, what kind of power supply are you running exactly?

You can find it at Future Shop or Magazin

He might want to just grab the case right now if he's serious about it. It could vanish from shelves any second, especially since Zalman is likely going to be replaced by newer models soon.

Beyond the warranty issues, their pricing structure is just plain bizarre. Even with Canada having a higher tax rate than we do—around 27-28%—some components, like certain GTX 970 models, actually end up being cheaper there than in the most budget-friendly German shops. And that's even considering Germany only has a 19% VAT, if I recall correctly.

Actually, I just placed an order for someone recently. The discounted web price applies specifically to cash or single-use card payments. For any other method, you're stuck with the "standard" online price—even though the cart automatically pulls in the discounted rate. If you want to pay in installments through the website, you actually have to select the cash option during checkout to make it work.

You need to select the cash payment option. Even if you end up walking into a branch and paying with a credit card via an installment plan, you should still choose "cash" online. Think of the card option strictly as the method for direct internet transactions.

To whom it may concern,

Online pricing is strictly reserved for cash payments or single-transaction credit card purchases.

I once saw a guy trying to order a coffee setup based on my recommendation—specifically looking for an HD 7750 DDR5 right when stock was drying up. Instead of helping him out, they just told him they didn't have it and tried to push a GT 640 on him. I can't recall if that one was the DDR3 or DDR5 version, but either way, it was a downgrade. They didn't even think to suggest an R7 250 DDR5 at a better price point, so naturally, I just switched the order elsewhere.

The shop is decent enough, but you shouldn't let them dictate your specs. You never know how much they'll try to steer you wrong.

That’s just how it works. It doesn't mean they don't know which parts are better; they just prioritize whatever moves the most inventory. It’s pure retail logic. For example, they might pair an elite case from $117 with a cheap motherboard and some liquid cooling just to pad the margins.

I once saw a guy reach out to all the big-name retailers asking them to build a custom rig for a specific budget. Every single one of them tried to push useless stuff—old processors and outdated tech—just to make a buck. The only ones who actually put together a decent build were the guys over at Micro Center and a local specialty shop.
It goes up to 12 🤷, plus you get a 36 credit limit with them (though their 9.90% rate is actually a better deal)

Keep the HDD, RAM, optical drive, and the case. Sell off the CPU, motherboard, and GPU instead.

I haven't found a single retailer offering interest-free financing for that many installments. That means you're looking at a personal loan (which could stretch up to 36 months).

For example, click

If we're talking about a 3-year term with an 11% APR, roughly $220 would end up going toward interest alone from the total amount ($2000). Just a heads-up: reach out right before you actually pull the trigger—literally a day or two before—because offers and pricing shift constantly. Ultimately, it's all manageable if you plan it out.
I believe this is a solid choice

Nicole Thompson46 said:Fair enough. I hadn't actually factored an SSD into my plans since I've never used one, but I'm guessing it’ll be a total game-changer for boot times and general system snappiness.
The math makes sense now. If I go with the Skylake route, I'm looking at $167 spending more upfront plus grabbing a new power supply. If I stick with my current setup, I save $167 by skipping the new PSU. That would leave me with $300 extra cash, which opens the door to picking up a 240GB SSD...

By the way, is my 560ti going to be a massive bottleneck for a new build?

http://thebottlenecker.com/

According to this, it looks like it might, but since a 660ti doesn't show much of a bottleneck, I'm thinking it won't be too disastrous with my 560ti given how close those two cards are...

?

You shouldn't need to swap out your power supply for a Skylake build. I've personally jumped from an E8200 to an i5 Haswell and then up to an i5 Skylake—honestly, the power supply doesn't care; you won't notice any difference at all.
Overclocking (Main Thread) in Desktops ·
Basically, most modern demanding titles are going to struggle quite a bit on a dual-core setup. You'd be better off telling me specifically what you're planning to play.

Here’s a list of games that would be practically unplayable for you:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1500524/i...w-with-gtx-970

I believe the list has even grown since then (GTA V might stutter, but it runs). One user mentioned that in many newer titles, the cores hit 100% utilization and end up bottlenecking the AMD Radeon HD 7850. If you aren't worried about future-proofing and just want to play older games (aside from a few exceptions), this CPU is actually excellent for gaming.
Someone’s got to do the dirty work, I guess.😬

Regarding the rules, all I see is a copyright violation. It would be nice if they just dropped the download link, but there isn't anything explicitly prohibiting piracy here... Besides, who knows what kind of Flotron Windows he was talking about—a trial version? An original copy from his aunt?🤔 😬
