Hey everyone, does anyone here have actual experience ordering from the iPun web shop? I’d love to hear some real stories if you've used them before. And honestly, if you don't have any firsthand experience and are just guessing, maybe skip this one? No offense intended, just trying to get the real scoop! Thanks!

Whether you’re being insulted or not, it’s hard to find any info that hasn't already been dragged through the mud on the Bug forums or PC Gamer... You want a third opinion? 😬I haven't heard a single soul from the forums actually buying it, otherwise people would be talking about it...

thanks

So, I did a little digging, and from what I can tell, the gear arrives pretty reliably. The only real hiccup is they occasionally mix up orders and send the wrong thing, but they’re super chill about swaps as long as you send the original back. Regarding the warranty situation—which everyone seems to be asking about—here’s the deal: if you order from them directly, they give you a three-day window of their own internal guarantee. If they ship you a dud, you can swap it out right then and there. Now, the actual product itself comes with a standard two-year manufacturer's warranty. But heads up—that’s on the factory, not the shop. If a part dies on you later, you’ve gotta track down an authorized service center yourself. It’s kind of like when my buddy’s RAM fried after just two months from Best Buy; he couldn't just hand it back to the store, he had to deal with the official repair center directly. So yeah, you can't just dump the problem back on the retailer; you’re on your own to go fight those battles. Shipping usually takes about three days and isn't too bad—I think it's around $17 for delivery within the US. You can technically buy their extended protection plan, but honestly, it bumps the price up so much that it kind of defeats the purpose of buying from them in the first place. Also, if you grab something and it just doesn't work for you, you can return it for a full refund. I'll let you guys know if I dig up anything else.

Now we get to the main point...

Everything you just laid out doesn't actually offer any better terms than if you'd just ordered from any other reputable online retailer. Plus, you're still paying for shipping, whereas plenty of other shops offer free delivery.

You're also getting the warranty info wrong. Under European Union laws, the seller is the one responsible for guaranteeing the goods they sell for a period of 24 months. And as far as I know, Canada is in the European Union, right?

Also, that 2-3 day return window they claim isn't how it works. Legally, you have a 14-day window to return items bought online if they don't meet specs, allowing you to ask for a replacement or a full refund. That said, a lot of these places are allergic to actually giving money back, so we can revisit that once a few customers actually post that they succeeded in getting their cash back...

Here’s why you’re likely stalking these forums:

1. You're on their payroll.
2. You're young and haven't dealt with much online shopping or consumer rights yet, so this all looks great to you.
3. You got one of those generic emails shops send out to bait people into advertising them in exchange for some little perks.

I'm guessing it's the last one. There's been a massive flood of these schemes lately because it's way cheaper than paying for actual ads. I hang around enough of these sites to see it constantly—getting offers every few days to post some "well-meaning" shoutout for a shop or a review for a product I haven't even touched...

I'm not saying the shop is necessarily bad; someone will definitely find something they like there, whether it's a specific item or a price point. But we've been around long enough and have enough experience with this stuff to be extremely skeptical of "recommendations" for things you haven't even seen. If you actually bought something from them, fine—post photos of the gear, the order, and the receipt to show your experience. But if you didn't... sorry...

Trust has to be earned.

So apparently I’m just some stereotypical Canadian guy, which is hilarious. But hey, if that's what you want to believe, fine by me.
Look, yeah, I'm young, I've got three different bank accounts,
and pretty much everything I buy comes online. Sure, I grab the basic household stuff—you know, cleaning supplies, booze, feminine hygiene products, Palmolive shampoo, whatever—down at the local Walmart, but when I'm looking at high-end PC components? If there's a chance to save a decent chunk of change, I'm taking it. I don't have firsthand experience with those specific shops yet, so I was just asking around. Honestly, if you're actually offended by me trying to save money, then sorry, I can't help you. That kind of attitude is on you. Based on how little you actually post here on this forum, maybe instead of being a jerk, you could actually share some useful advice. I'd honestly take it seriously and say thanks.

Nah, looks like you're either totally out of the loop or you just don't give a damn about protecting your rights. Or maybe you actually enjoy fighting through endless inspections and legal filings... who knows. And insulting someone who actually earned their moderator status on this subforum? That's just... how do I put this? Childish.

Either you don't care about protecting your own rights, or you're just too lazy to deal with all the legal headaches, inspections, and filing complaints. And honestly? Attacking someone who actually worked their way up to being a moderator on this subforum is... how should I put this? It’s just childish.

Just go ahead and point out exactly where I was being insulting, then maybe I'll finally get the picture.

Arrogance... It's possible I came off as arrogant, maybe a little, maybe unintentionally, even while trying to speak from experience... But that’s no excuse. I don't like being arrogant, and I'm sorry if I sounded that way—it wasn't my intention.

People come here looking for advice. We try our best to give them the most solid info possible by giving up our free time and sharing what we know. I never said you were Canadian (and there's nothing wrong with that; Canadians are fine as long as they aren't clogging up the border, and I have a soft spot for Canadian women 😬), and I didn't say the iPhon was bad, which you can see if you actually bother to read my post carefully.

However, I can't just leave your post standing where you're praising the iPhon as this amazing thing and spreading false claims about returns and warranties. Leaving it would imply I agree with you—and I don't. I also mentioned that every product has its target audience, and I'm sure the iPhon will find its niche, but I doubt there will be many buyers given the shipping costs, the measly 2-3 day return window, and then having to rely on the manufacturer's warranty after that... Those terms basically fly in the face of European Union consumer laws.

I won't get into pricing, but there are specific laws regarding the movement of goods within the European Union, including quotas. You saw this recently with Amazon (I think!), where they had killer prices because they were cutting taxes, but once they hit their legal limit, the prices spiked right back up by the tax amount. It worked while it lasted. But you have to follow the law. And honestly, the iPhon didn't even manage to pull a stunt like that to attract customers...

If you're buying in bulk, you can ask any retailer for a volume discount; some will jump at the chance. Or, you could try negotiating with more flexible companies that handle their own procurement instead of going through massive wholesalers like Best Buy or Staples... I know there are others out there, I just can't recall them right now, so help me out, please... 😬 Getting older definitely takes its toll...

Haven't used them before, so I asked around. If all that matters to you, sorry, I can't help you. Arrogance is your choice, so since you've posted so much on this forum, you could have just taken the advice seriously and actually said thanks.

Doesn't that bother you? Seriously?🙄

But I can't just leave your post sitting there where you're hyping up i-phone like it's the greatest thing ever and spreading wrong info about returns and warranties. If I left it, it would look like I agree with you—and I totally don't. I also mentioned that everything has its target audience, so yeah, i-phone will probably find its people, but I doubt there'll be many once you factor in shipping costs, a measly 2-3 day warranty after delivery, and then having to rely on the manufacturer's warranty after that... Look, I'm sorry if I offended you. I just couldn't shake the feeling that you were looking down on me, even though you've been giving me advice for 5 or 6 years now—back when I was using an old handle I can't even remember anymore. I'm not hyping up i-phone at all, I was just trying to get some info. I don't know much, I'm just asking around everywhere. Everything I read on other forums from people who actually use them, I just wanted to bring here for everyone else searching for answers. If I got the facts wrong, then my bad, I'm apologizing to everyone. Most of us with less experience rely on your expertise so we don't blow our hard-earned cash on junk. That's why we're here. It's not like I don't know anything about PCs, but just like going to a doctor, a second opinion is always helpful. Again, sorry man.

I’m scrolling back through this thread to see what I actually wrote... and one thing really jumps out at me.

They’re offering an extended warranty, but they don't even provide the warranty themselves—they just outsource everything to some third-party repair shop? I'm not sure I follow how that's supposed to work...

darkowl72 said:I’m scrolling back through this thread again just to see what the hell I actually wrote... and man, something totally jumped out at me.

So they charge extra for an extended warranty, but then they don't even handle the repairs themselves? They just toss you off to some third-party repair shop instead? I’m honestly lost... how does that even work?

Man, you ever have that moment where you drop an extra $300 just to bump up a laptop's warranty from one year to... well, more? Total facepalm move right there. I feel like I did that once and honestly, my bank account still hasn't forgiven me. Just pure buyer's remorse hitting you all at once.$133 Another year to go. As for that second part, from what I can tell, you basically have to track down an authorized service center and ship them the broken component. Honestly, it feels like once they make the sale, they just wash their hands of the whole thing.

So, here’s what they’re claiming regarding their warranty. I might have totally misread the fine print, but here’s my take on how this actually works.
Look, just a heads-up—DigitalOcean isn't exactly promising that everything you buy from them is going to run perfectly 24/7 without any hiccups.
Look, just a heads-up on these products—there’s honestly not a ton of info provided upfront. They’re basically designed for standard office setups or just hanging out at home. That means the ball is entirely in your court to make sure everything actually runs smoothly. You've gotta handle the heavy lifting yourself: making sure you've got the right power supply, keeping things ventilated so they don't overheat, staying on top of the dust, and watching the temperature and humidity levels. And please, for the love of god, don't try to DIY a complex install if you aren't sure what you're doing—get a pro to set it up!
So, here's the deal with the warranty service: we actually run our own logistics through DigitalOcean. It’s super convenient, honestly. If you need to send something in for repairs, our own courier will swing by your place for free, grab the gear, and haul it off to get fixed. Then, once everything is good to go and the product is back in working order, they'll drop it right back at your doorstep—totally free of charge. No hassle, no extra fees, just easy.
Look, just a heads-up on how this works: if your gear has a manufacturer's warranty, once those first three business days pass, you can't use the warranty courier anymore. You're basically on your own to deal directly with the manufacturer's service department. This usually applies to stuff like monitors, printers, laptops, and that kind of thing. When you're shipping a busted device back to them, don't forget—seriously, don't forget—to include both the actual manufacturer's warranty info and a copy of your receipt. Beyond the warranty issues, their pricing structure is just plain bizarre. Even with Canada having a higher tax rate than we do—around 27-28%—some components, like certain GTX 970 models, actually end up being cheaper there than in the most budget-friendly German shops. And that's even considering Germany only has a 19% VAT, if I recall correctly.

Timothy Kim60 said:Beyond the warranty concerns, their pricing structure strikes me as quite peculiar. For instance, Canada carries a higher tax rate than we do (around 27-28%), yet certain components—take specific GTX 970 models, for example—are actually priced lower than at the most budget-friendly German retailers (and if I recall correctly, Germany only has a 19% VAT).

What is even more baffling is that when you look at the prices in local currency, they are even more competitive. For instance, the GTX 970 G1 gaming is $67 cheaper on the ipon.hu website.

I would certainly consider purchasing from them, but am I really willing to gamble $1,500? I find myself wondering: what happens if someone receives defective components and then faces endless headaches? It isn't that I wish ill upon anyone, but wouldn't it be better to identify a dishonest vendor early on? We shouldn't risk a situation similar to what happened with ExtremeDigital, where customers were receiving used goods instead of new ones.

The more I reflect on this, the more I feel it might be worth paying $400 a bit more than the local American price to ensure quality assurance and full legal protection. Is it not better to pay a premium for peace of mind rather than facing a financial loss that would be difficult to recover from?

So, I went ahead and dropped some cash on that BitFenix Nova case through them last night... didn't break the bank or anything, came out to $105 total after shipping... since it's the weekend, I haven't heard a peep from them yet, so I guess we'll just see what happens on Monday—if they actually get around to processing it and when they might finally ship it out...
