So, we're looking at some unknown virus here. Unfortunately, viruses have this annoying habit of mutating and all that. As for the vaccine... I don't know, I'm not sure if you can count on it just yet. Basically, until we know more about what we're dealing with, maybe just stay out of the woods unless you really have to. If you do go, wear long sleeves and pants. That's pretty much the only way to protect yourself for now. 😢

Heart issues/heart palpitations

Also, I had these weird electric shock sensations shooting through my chest today, pretty low down near my stomach😕 feels like little needles, then it's gone, but it freaks me out when it happens. My thigh has been hurting for a couple days too (not swollen or bruised, doesn't hurt to touch), just comes and goes. Anyone got advice? I'd really appreciate it. THANKS!
You know why. It's the generalized anxiety and those panic attacks. Plus you've got finals coming up. 😲
How's everything in Chicago? Are the mosquitoes driving you guys crazy??😉

Andrew Lewis28 said:I guess I could use some advice, especially if anyone else deals with this. For a while now, I've been waking up in the early hours with this pain in my chest on the left side. It lasts until I actually get out of bed and walk around a bit. If I just stay lying down, it feels really weird and sometimes I start panicking. I've used a small home blood pressure cuff a few times and gotten some strange readings—usually my systolic is fine (around 110-120), but my diastolic is low or just okay (50-70), along with a pretty low heart rate that sometimes drops to 43 when I feel terrible and that chest pain hits hard. I've seen two cardiologists; one told me my home monitor isn't reliable, and the other gave me a Holter monitor and said everything looks fine. But it doesn't feel fine since the symptoms aren't stopping. Also, my heart often starts racing while I'm just resting, like during an afternoon nap after lunch. When I'm active or working out, I feel great and have zero issues. Thanks in advance.
Maybe it's just normal for your pulse to be lower when you're lying in bed, especially right when you wake up. Seems like the Holter was fine, so 👍 those digital cuffs can be pretty unreliable and usually show numbers that are too low.
If I were you, I might look into getting a stress test just to be safe. Honestly, sounds like your heart is probably fine. No real reason to worry. You should only really worry if these things happen when you're actually exerting yourself.
How old are you, and do you do any sports?
Anesthesia, Resuscitation, and ICU: Q&A

I'm opening this thread up to everyone on the forum. Hopefully the mods don't mind me doing this.
So yeah, feel free to ask whatever you want, I'll try my best to answer.
My background is basically cardiology and ER medicine. I'm actually in the middle of my residency right now.
It'd be cool if some other doctors joined in too, I think there's plenty of them listed in this PDF.🙂🙂
