Anesthesia, Resuscitation, and ICU: Q&A in Health ·
I don't really have a specific question—not that I actually expect anyone here to be competent enough to give me a real answer these days—but I just need to vent about this surgery I've got coming up tomorrow.
Since I'm allergic to local anesthetics, and since most stuff out there is probably based on lidocaine anyway, I’ve basically just let my teeth go to hell. I mean, I can't exactly run to the dentist for every little thing, so we decided to just go big or go home. We're focusing on everything critical that needs to be PULLED. So, yeah.
Under general anesthesia, I'm getting about 12 teeth pulled and a few fillings done. 🙂🙂 ,,
I'm a little shaky about it, but once it's over, I'll come back and let you guys know how it went. 😍
PETITION: Stop moderator power trips in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Anyone here ever had one of those crappy experiences where a moderator decides they just don't like how you phrase things? You know the drill—they nuked your post and slapped you with a warning, OR even worse, they just wiped your comment clean without saying a single word about why. Go ahead, vent about it right here, ,,,,,

Honestly, these guys aren't some geniuses or anything special. They're just random people picked to "keep order," but half the time that "order" is just them settling personal scores. If they don't agree with you or if your writing style rubs them the wrong way, they pull the trigger.
You don't have to explain exactly what happened, but if you want to, go for it. I just want to see how many of us have dealt with these mods for absolutely no reason at all.
🙂🙂

So, what's the deal with that HD5750? Is it actually worth anything? $227 Look, if you want to actually play games without pulling your hair out, this is basically the floor. It’s the bare minimum you can grab for any kind of serious gaming before things get ridiculous. You could go even lower with an HD5670 if you're really pinching pennies, but honestly? That's pushing it. That's the absolute basement.
Look, neither of those GPUs are massive power hogs, so I’m pretty sure your PSU can handle either one without blowing up... honestly, just look at your own budget and see what you can actually swing. But if we're talking about that processor, you really shouldn't go much higher than something like an HD5750 or an HD5770—you know, one of those newer DX11 cards. Anything beefier than that is just going to be overkill because it'll totally outclass your CPU. There's really no point in dropping a ton of cash on a better card when your processor is just gonna bottle-neck the whole thing anyway.
Also, if you're stuck with only 2 GB of RAM, just add another 2 GB. Seriously. It’s especially worth it if you're actually trying to run Windows 7 without everything crawling at a snail's pace.

I'm heading to bed now. I'll either hang around for a bit to see if anyone else stays up to reply, or I'll just check back in the morning to see what you've got to say.

Hey.

By the way... Check out procurement.com Look, just go ahead and type in HD5750 or HD5670—or honestly, pretty much any GPU you can think of—and start checking prices. You need to do some actual homework to see where you can grab them and what they’re actually going for. For your resolution, 512 MB on the card is plenty, so make sure you mention that in the description.

Look, buying used gear? Yeah, there’s always a risk. I get it. But if you actually do your homework—check the receipt, verify the purchase date, make sure the warranty hasn't expired, and confirm the card isn't a total lemon—it’s definitely worth considering. For instance, picking up an old HD4870 or a 4850 wouldn't be a bad move if the math adds up.

Look, at the end of the day, upgrading to any of those cards is going to feel like a massive jump. Well, except maybe for the Sapphire HD 5670—but if you're actually talking about real gaming, that's a different story entirely. 🙂

I'll take a look tomorrow and just copy everything over. My PC's been running all day and I really don't feel like messing around with it and risking a crash or some other headache... but why even bother? The gt 240 just isn't up to par. Honestly, it's pretty useless. Looks like I’m gonna need a ton of help navigating this place. There seem to be a million little tricks and things you have to know just to get anything done, right? Does anyone here actually buy stuff online? I'm wondering how that works—do packages actually show up when they say they will, or am I going to be sitting around waiting forever? I'm out in a small town in rural Nebraska, and the selection of components around here is basically nonexistent. So, yeah... which companies can I actually trust to ship my gear without screwing me over?

One more thing... I've got another question. 😛Look, take my card as an example. I’m playing Assassin's Creed 2 just fine right now, and I can even handle the third one on medium settings. I can even run Dead Space 2 on maxed out without breaking a sweat. So when this guy claims my card absolutely can't handle a game... I don't get it. It makes zero sense to me. 🤷

For the same amount of cash you're looking at for a gt 240, just check the warranty first, obviously.

http://www.craigslist.org/graphics-card-listing-example

Even better option here—it's newer, runs cooler, pulls less power, and you can see the warranty status too.

If you absolutely have to go with something brand new, look for an HD5750 again... http://www.bestbuy.com/item/hd5750-listing brand new price tag.

BTW, what kind of power supply are you running?

And uh, how do people even buy new stuff through Craigslist? I don't know, nobody's really told me how it works, I guess.🤷,,and as for the power supply, I honestly have no clue how to figure that out. I grabbed that CPU and under the core voltage section it says 1.265 and it keeps jumping up and down constantly... is that it? I don't know. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to hardware.

So, here's the deal. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on an Asus Nvidia gt 240 with 512MB of memory sometime in the next few days. Just weighing it up.
Since gaming is pretty much my whole reason for being online right now, that's where I need to put most of my money. Everything else is secondary. GeForce "8500" It’s way too weak for any of the newer games, but honestly, whatever. I don't really care.
So, what I'm really wondering here is... will this gt 240 actually play nice with the processor? Like, is it going to work normally or what? Intel Core duo E4500 2,20... just sitting there. Thinking about how much things change. One minute you think you've got a decent setup, and then you realize you're basically running on fumes. It’s funny, really. You spend all this time tinkering, thinking you're some kind of tech wizard, and then you're staring at an Intel Core duo E4500 2,20 wondering where it all went wrong. Not that I'm complaining, per se. It gets the job done when you aren't trying to run anything remotely modern. Just a thought. Or maybe just a rant. Whatever.Yeah, sure, the native resolution is 1680x1050, but if your GPU is total garbage, you're obviously gonna have to drop that down just to get anything playable. Is there anything else I need to worry about, or do I literally just pop a new card into the slot and call it a day?
Yeah, that's the plan. I'm looking at grabbing it through Newegg. $206 Does anyone actually know if ordering stuff online is legit? I’ve never bought anything over the internet before, so I'm a bit skeptical. Is the pricing usually fair, or am I just getting ripped off? If someone knows a site that’s 100% safe and won't screw me over, let me know.

So, my rig is strictly for gaming—I'm talking full-on hardcore mode—but this current card is just straight-up pathetic. It’s way too weak for what I need, so yeah, I'm hunting for a new one. The problem is, I have zero clue which power supply I actually need to run it, and honestly? I don't even know how to check what I've got under the hood right now.

I'm open to any and all suggestions. Lay them on me.
