I’m with you on that. I can get through the second and third ones, but I recently sat down to watch 4. The Final Destination and man, it was just bad. The actors' reactions to all the tragic stuff happening around them are almost non-existent. There's zero emotion, no real response—it's like everything going down is just totally normal to them. Every single death is brutal in its own way, I'll give them that; they definitely put effort into the gore. But for me, it felt way too over the top. In the first movie, there was actual feeling; the actors' reactions when that plane explodes are great. The lead actor looks genuinely terrified, constantly sweating and shaken by every vision he has. In the fourth one, though? Nothing. The cast is just completely cold-blooded. That's why I think that movie fails.
The first one is definitely the best. I can still remember the first time I sat down to watch it. I don't know the exact year—it’s been at least a decade by now—but I was just bored, there was nothing on TV, and I wasn't really feeling this either. But then, the whole plane sequence started getting interesting. Watching the panic set in right before the plane explodes... man, it was such a "wow" moment. I honestly had no idea what I was getting into. After the explosion, I wasn't expecting a movie like this at all; I kind of thought it was going to be some standard drama. But as the plot unfolded, it just kept getting more intense. That's how I stumbled upon a completely new genre that I hadn't really explored before. 😁

I don't mean you actually sat there watching it back in '78. I just mean that the movies you grew up with can easily get rewritten by nostalgia. Since zombies are having a huge moment again, that's probably why people are revisiting it. But if you ask me, it’s definitely one of those overrated films.

Nathan Murphy: Look, when a movie this bad gets praised, it’s usually nothing more than pure nostalgia. Only the old-school fans are going to back it. Try finding someone watching this for the very first time who would actually agree with you that it’s a masterpiece. Honestly, I just think high-quality films will always beat out low-budget productions. There are exceptions, sure, but I don't think this is one of them.
Just so we're clear, I love Horror. I wouldn't call myself a die-hard fanatic, but I enjoy the genre. Maybe those poorly made zombies just didn't do it for me compared to other zombie flicks. I think I might have even seen bits of this when I was a kid. It was advertised on TV quite a bit back then and seemed terrifying. But then again, everything seems terrifying to a child.
I honestly don't see what makes the atmosphere of this movie any different from other horror movies. If anything, I'd say it doesn't really have a unique atmosphere at all.

The truth is, I didn't like this movie, and I don't really get why people are reacting this way to such an mediocre film. But hey, opinions differ. You just have to live with that. It wouldn't be great if we all thought exactly the same way. 🙂 Though, it also isn't great when people are afraid to speak their minds just to please everyone else.

You can't even put 'The Thing' in the same conversation as this movie. 'The Thing' is one of the best horror films ever made. In my opinion, it might even be better than Alien (1979).

I don't want to spend the whole time trashing the movie, though. That scene with the bystanders was actually pretty good. And the core idea behind the film isn't bad either, it just has way too many other flaws.

There was a time when movies actually held their own, but nowadays, you can really see how mediocre they've become. Honestly, the only people trying to force these bad films down our throats are the nostalgia seekers—people who just lie to themselves to convince themselves everything is still great. It’s frustrating when you run into someone else's opinion that goes against what you expected. 😁

It’s honestly kind of surprising to see such a high rating on IMDb. I guess it’s probably just because zombies have become trendy again lately. To be honest, I couldn't even make it to the end. It drags on way too long, and I just didn't really enjoy it. If they had managed to secure a bigger budget, maybe this could have been a top-tier movie, but as it stands, it feels like straight-up B-movie territory. Personally, I'd give it a 4/10. The Return of the Living Dead from 1985 is much better.

I have this feeling that The Dude doesn't really land with women the way it does with guys. I tried watching it once—actually, I don't think I even finished it. It’s not a bad movie by any means, but I found it kind of tedious. Meanwhile, all the men around me were absolutely losing it laughing.

There are just certain movies I can't bring myself to sit through. Take "Lost in Translation," for example; the whole idea of that older man and the young girl getting tangled up just rubs me the wrong way. I knew immediately I wouldn't enjoy it, so I didn't even bother. Or maybe it's Avatar—it gets so much hype, but to me, it just feels like a glorified cartoon, so I haven't had the motivation to even start it.

I did give Tropic Thunder a shot once, and honestly, I remember thinking it was TERRIBLE. It's been a while, though, so I don't even really remember the plot anymore. A lot of guys swear it's a masterpiece, but I'm not sure if it's worth my time to try again. I just can't seem to talk myself into it. 😁

We’re going to bundle all the incoming suggestions into a single post by the end of the day this Thursday, and then we'll run the poll as usual on Friday. ''

So, I guess there won't be enough time to actually sit down and listen to the album 😁 we'll just be voting from memory like we always do

Personally, I’m leaning towards the popular albums. I think it would be way more interesting to see a winner chosen from the top artists.

Or even better, why not just combine the two? We could have the best albums selected through anonymous submissions.

Fair enough then. 🙂 I usually just end up scrolling through the main index thread anyway. It’s honestly easier for me to just jump straight into whichever album won the vote among all the nominees. If I do it your way, I have to dig through the entire list just to find out which one actually took the top spot back then.

I’ve got a suggestion for the 'Album of the Week' index thread. Maybe we could just include a direct link to every winning album? It would make things a whole lot easier when someone wants to jump straight into the thread.

I spent most of my day diving deep into this album. I have to say, I’m really starting to dig it after sitting with it for a while. I guess that’s the whole point of listening to full albums—things that don't click immediately might actually grow on you later. 🙂 If I were being picky, I’d probably cut those "glitchy" parts, but honestly, the rest of it is pretty solid. :P

I'm listening to ''Faust - Faust IV (1973)'' right now. The second track is alright, but the rest of it sounds like a broken record to me, honestly. :P
