I’d probably go with the first one... it seems to have everything, though I guess there isn't really a standardized way to measure how much eye strain you might actually deal with 😬
I’d probably just pick out the parts individually and toss them in the cart:
1 x WD Caviar Blue 1TB SATA 3 WD10EZEX Hard Drive 1 x GIGABYTE 120GB SSD 1 x Patriot Elite DDR4, 2666Mhz, 8GB (2x4GB)HS 1 x MS HELIOS III midi tower case 1 x LG 22" LED IPS, 22MK430H, VGA, DVI, HDMI 1 x LC-Power LC500-12 V2.31, 400W, 80+ Bronze Power Supply 1 x AMD Ryzen 3 2200 g 1 x 1 x MSI A320M_PRO-VD, AM4, mATX motherboard
Total: $1188 Future IT
+ maybe add one front fan:
It might be smarter to find a cheaper Windows Key somewhere (maybe on eBay?)... but here's this:
EDIT: I think the monitor suggested above is actually the better way to go.
Maybe consider some DDR4-3000 memory. This GEIL EVO Spear kit comes with 16 GB (2x8GB), which seems like a decent enough setup. Intel Core Ryzen 5 1600X BOX, AM4 socket, 3.6GHz, 19MB cache, HexaCore, cooler not included. The ASRock Fatal1ty AB350 gaming K4 is an ATX board using the AMD B350 chipset with DDR4 support and an AM4 socket. I guess it's a pretty standard option for those builds. The ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 33 cooler works with sockets 1151, 1150, 1155, 1156, 2011-v3, 2011, and AM4.
$1079 Maybe you could look into getting it on a payment plan through Best Buy.
Best Buy has some pretty solid prices right now, and honestly, their financing deals make them even better since they don't tack on any extra fees for paying in installments. It’s basically the same price as paying cash.
GPU:
It looks like XFX is rolling out some new AMD Radeon RX 580 cards. I guess they might be worth checking out if you're looking to refresh an older build.
I guess I still have some stuff left over for the case and the power supply. $267 If you need to, go ahead. You can definitely keep the drives.
EVGA RTX 3060 4GB GDDR5, 256-bit, 1340/1750MHz, 11266-14-20G, 11266-46-20G Maybe an Intel Core i7-7700K, 3.4GHz, 16MB Cache, socket LGA 1151. Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD, 3.5", 7200RPM, 64MB Cache, SATA3, ST1000DM008 I think maybe you should just go with two. It might be better that way. I guess this is just a single 8GB stick of DDR4—G.Skill Aegis, 3000MHz, CL16. Maybe it’ll do the job. I guess it’s an MSI B450M. The 250GB Western Digital Black SSD (M.2 2280, MZ-V7E250BW). The Zalman R1 mid tower case. The G.Skill Ripjaws 550W power supply, 80PLUS Bronze ATX 2.4. The Arctic Freezer 33—it covers just about everything from LGA 115x to AM4. I guess it’s a pretty versatile little cooler if you need it to fit a wide range of sockets.
Yeah, because obviously you need 20 slow cores and 128GB of RAM just to play games... right? I guess he should also grab something way cheaper, since there's zero chance of upgrading to 7nm chips that would absolutely smoke any Sandy / Ivy HEDT CPU.
Actually, the 2600 is a bit faster. I can't quite remember which exact one I listed 😬 ...but since the price is pretty reasonable compared to the 1600X now, you might as well just grab the 2600 model.
At 1440p with an RTX 2070, I don't think the 8600K would offer any real speed boost—it’d probably be totally unnoticeable—so that’s why I went with the 1600X instead. 😉
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 doesn't really make sense when you look at those RX570/580 prices... you're only getting about 30-35% more performance for nearly double the cost (~$533 more).
As for that guy talking about a quad-core i5 🤣—honestly, his info hasn't been relevant for almost two years, so I wouldn't trust his expertise much.
