The reason they swapped out the Kepler is mainly because of the quieter fan and the PWM support. It’s a bit less efficient than the Kepler or the LC-CC-95, but honestly, it still beats the stock version by quite a bit, and just $26 😉
.
If you have the extra cash in your budget, you could always go for a more expensive card, maybe a GTX 660($267)/GTX 570(650-$233).

The bigger issue is actually streaming; gaming isn't really the main struggle.

Oof, that’s a tough one.

He really needs a decent CPU. I’d say an FX 6300 (maybe with some overclocking) paired with a GTX 750 Ti would be his best bet. A buddy of mine who races against me tried streaming something a bit heavier than League of Legends, and he was dealing with constant stuttering and massive FPS drops on his FX 4130 and GTX 660.

I’d probably check out Micro Center for the build components to take advantage of those discounts. For peripherals, though, I'd hit up a different shop since Micro Center doesn't have much of a selection there.

It’s actually a GTX 550 Ti, not a 2GB card.😬 That works too, like we discussed... maybe just see if you can shave a bit off the price.

EDIT: Or you could try mixing things up—pair a modern platform with some used parts:

I guess he’s aiming for Indianapolis and the handoff 😉
Price 😬

The 8370E draws just a bit less power since the voltages are lower, and I guess it has slightly better overclocking potential than the AMD FX-8300, though they're basically identical otherwise. You could grab an FX 8320E for $380 at AMD... honestly, the 8370E just doesn't seem worth it.

Something similar to yours could probably be put together for $1167, maybe even a bit more. $833 would be a decent starting point, depending on what kind of warranty you get.
Why pick the 8350 over an 8300 or maybe an 8320E?

They need way less voltage to hit the same clock speeds, they run cooler, plus you can probably squeeze out another 300--$133 😛

You might not even need the Athlon x4 840, you'll see—it’s only a 65W TDP.

Maybe sell the PC if you end up needing a laptop for college...

The 750 Ti is a bit weaker than the GTX 660 or HD 7850. Just keep in mind that those reviews probably used a stronger processor.

Honestly, it’s worth about $667, so I guess you might want to try dropping it by at least $67.

x2 4000+ is basically on par with two 3200+ units; the single-thread performance is just really weak.
Having some PC issues in Desktops ·
Even for a light game like lega Movie gama, this PC doesn't even meet the bare minimum requirements.

I guess you'd need at least a dual-core processor like an X2 5600 and maybe pick up a used graphics card for about $83.

I wonder why the 1151 platform and DDR4 😛 along with all those modern standards (USB3.1, SATA Express, M.2 SATA)—it would make jumping to an i7 Cannonlake, for example, much easier.

Maybe a passive NVIDIA GeForce GT 720 could work, since its CUDA core count looks decent compared to all that junk up to $117.

As far as I know, the only card with built-in H.265 support is the GTX 960.

Yeah, I guess it's not exactly a massive leap... though if you could borrow some junk GPU from a friend and trade in your old card for an HD 7870 or a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660, maybe it'd be worth it—even if the CPU is probably going to be a bit of a bottleneck.
