Thanks for the reply. I was just using the peroxide to get those bandages off since they got stuck to the wound. I'll try to see if I can clear away more of the scabs. It looks like the old nail is growing over the scab now. At least it's a good sign that his finger doesn't hurt.

Hey everyone. I could use some advice on how to help my husband. Here’s the situation: he cut his big toe with a chainsaw. We went to the ER and they put in two stitches. Part of the nail is gone, and there are these little flaps of flesh exposed, which have since dried up. He’s had the stitches removed now, but pus is oozing from those spots. It looks like a new nail is growing in and pushing the scabs outward. Does anyone know the best way to clean this wound? How should I handle removing those scabs? Thanks for any help.
