The movie feels a bit overstretched, though I suppose I enjoy this kind of subject matter. The battle scenes are solid, and the landscapes of Scotland are beautiful enough.😍
The beach setting is quite romantic, and I liked the Elizabeth Def character. Plus, the flower gesture he makes is a total callback to Braveheart.🙂

I honestly don't think they've read a single movie review in their life. This is just my own take on that one scene—it might not even align with what the director intended, I guess. 😉 She was basically on her own through the whole thing. She ended up in the hospital with a diagnosis of total burnout and sleep deprivation, and the guy she lives with didn't even notice. I guess he just wasn't paying attention.🙄 Then again, you’ve got the whole "absent husband" situation to contend with. 🙂 She told the hospital staff that she’d been struggling with postpartum depression after having her second child, so I suppose there's an official diagnosis of a mental health condition on record. 🤷

What I find interesting is how, for the first time during that specific moment, I actually had the realization of what was really going on. It isn't so much that the thought occurred to me, but rather how on earth the director managed to wipe it from my mind so effectively with the following scenes. It was as if the thought never existed, maintaining that illusion right up until the girl's last name is revealed.

I guess I wouldn't have been nearly as shocked if I'd gone into a movie like this thinking 🙂 spoiler and I felt bad for Tully, like she's being exploited for every single trope; this is my husband loves X and Y, just sit down and take it. 😁
Well, you suspected it pretty quickly, even if they did manage to convince you otherwise later on. 🙂

In the end, the most striking part for me was that scene near the end where the husband and sister are in the hospital; when he tells her he can't believe she left the kids alone in the middle of the night, and she responds by asking if they weren't home, implying they weren't actually alone. He just admits she's right. I suppose it just shows that regardless of how progressive society gets or how modern marriages become, childcare still feels like it's primarily a woman's burden.😉

Well, I feel a bit better now that it's cleared up. 🙂Spoiler alert I was also stuck at the end—that scene at the kid's birthday party where the brother and husband are talking, and the brother is just completely blindsided.
I wish I'd understood sooner because that 'waitress scene' in bed was just... wow. Total WTF moment. Honestly, I don't think Tully had ever even seen anything like that before, but look at her go. 😁

Another standout moment for me was when she rings the doorbell at her old apartment building in NYC to see her former roommate, looking at that entryway... it really drives home that whole idea that you can't ever truly go back to who you were.

A beautiful film. 😍 The acting was top-notch, and there were plenty of touching moments... without spoiling anything regarding that scene in the high school with her, the little one, and the teacher—everything is fine, you don't need to go see it just to build a tree 🙂

My only real gripe might be how much the brother and the husband look alike, especially when they aren't in the same shot. 🙂
I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't seen it yet, so I'll hold back on asking when you all figured certain things out 🕺 but what's certain is this—I guess no Reitman's film has ever disappointed me. 👍

Nadan hopes it isn't just a fluke, but even I wondered if maybe only empathetic men can truly connect with this film, or if it's primarily for a female audience. 🤷

She’s just insecure. She lacks self-confidence and doesn't seem to value herself or her own life. I guess she feels better pretending to be someone else, which is why she makes things up.

Either accept her exactly as she is or just walk away. Honestly, I doubt she'll ever admit the truth to you; if you call her out on a lie, she'll probably just double down anyway..
If she has plenty of other good qualities, maybe just view this as a flaw and try to overlook it.
