I’ve definitely got three joints down, but I don't have data on the rest.
What I actually wanted to ask is this: when does the itching start? When I first got it a year and a half ago, it didn't itch at all until I got back from the beach. Aside from the ugly eczema patches, there were no other signs. But since this fall, the itching has been unbearable 😢 How are you handling the itch? Are you scratching yourselves bloody like I am 😲 or are you doing mental exercises for self-control, or maybe using some kind of soothing cream (if so, which one)?
That’s awesome if it’s working. Let me know what Joe said. I might actually go for Psorex myself if I can shower more often. I can't stand going more than two days without washing. btw I'm a woman 🙂
Hey there! Nobody is saying anything... Charles Chavez, how’s that treatment with the psorex going? I know that cream and I know exactly how bad it smells, but even the stench didn't stop me from considering it. Honestly, the real dealbreaker is the fact that you aren't supposed to shower for five days straight, and you'd have to stick to that for months—like only showering on weekends. A buddy of mine found it super helpful, but he had a pretty nasty reaction the first time he used it. My legs are itching like crazy. I have to focus really hard just to make sure I don't scratch my skin right off.
For example, my autoimmune issues flared up for the first time during my pregnancy, and they haven't let up since. Pregnancy was clearly the trigger for me, even though I know some women actually see their symptoms improve while they're expecting. If I were you, I’d definitely go see a doctor.
Thanks for the info on Elidel 🙂 As for those other treatments, I don't offer that kind of service outside my own local community, so you're out of luck with me, sorry 🙂
Hey Jason Harris3, I have a question for you (not sure how to quote a specific part of a post, my bad), but it's about this: What do you guys think about Elidel cream? My dermatologist prescribed it to me and it worked perfectly.
When you say things were okay, what do you mean exactly? Did the itching finally stop? Did that thick layer of skin peel off? Or was it the scaling that went away? Give me some details.
I tried Psorcutan, and honestly, I’m so disappointed. It’s causing a terrible reaction for me. My skin turns bright red—like, dark red—and it stings like crazy. I'm just eating some olive oil and St. John's Wort spread right now. It's honestly nothing special.
Hey there, I just got back from my trip to the coast. Things are looking up slightly—the scabs on my arms and head have finally cleared up—but my legs are still just as bad and the itching is driving me absolutely insane. 😠 Like someone else mentioned, I’m starting to get really anxious about autumn hitting. If that happens, I'll be stuck in this endless cycle. Reading all your stories about miraculous recoveries gives me hope, even if I’m nowhere near that point yet. It’s good to know progress is actually possible. I’m thinking about trying some naphtha treatments this spring.
silentheron25, I took a quick look at the ingredients in that cream you mentioned... I can't say for sure if it's total toxic waste, but honestly, I'm not a fan of that alcohol base and those acids. Personally, I can't imagine putting something with alcohol on skin this thirsty for deep hydration—it’s just going to dry it out even more. Anyway, good luck! Let me know how it works out for you. 🙂
Got it. So, does the flaking come back to those same spots once autumn hits, or does it pop up somewhere new? I'm asking because, so far, the sun has cleared everything right off my hands. Those spots look just like healthy skin now, so I want to be mentally prepared for the potential shock when fall rolls around.
Sophia Campbell73, when you say you used nothing but olive oil before hitting the sun and it worked, how well did it actually work? Did the spots almost vanish, or did the skin just peel off while the redness stayed?
I'm getting ready for a trip to the beach, so I have a few questions: should I put sunscreen on red spots, dry patches, or open wounds, or just let the sun hit them? Also, for dry skin that's peeling, is it better to gently scrub it off after applying some oil or cream, or should I just apply the product and leave the skin alone?
Can someone tell me what their skin looks like after spending 3 or 4 weeks tanning intensely at the beach? Does everything just peel off, or does most of it go away? And once autumn hits, will it start flaring up again in those same spots or move to different areas?
So, I actually tried those oils like you suggested, but honestly? It backfired on me big time. I’m almost embarrassed to even admit it since they seem to work wonders for everyone else, but for my skin, all that grease just sat there. Instead of moisturizing or feeding my skin like they’re supposed to, they actually made the dry patches even worse. 😕 Right now, I’m just tanning and using some Vaseline. There isn't much improvement, but at least the itching and flaking aren't nearly as unbearable.
I still have my old epilator that has both a plucking head (from back in the day before psoriasis ruined everything) and a shaver head, so I just stick to the shaver now.
Hey there 🙂! I haven’t been part of this group for very long—maybe just about a year 👍 😁 . My elbows on both arms, both shins, and one knee are acting up. It's diagnosed as psoriasis vulgaris. During the winter, it flares up on my scalp and parts of my body too, though the sun has cleared that up for now. For treatment, I've tried light therapy at a local clinic and topical corticosteroids. While I was doing that, I started reading everyone's stories here, which gave me enough courage to ditch the heavy-duty steroids and stuff like that. Unfortunately, nothing I've tried so far has actually worked. 🙄 Am I a hopeless case, or have we just not known each other long enough yet, my new friend and I? 😁 Anyway, I don't have much else to say, just wanted to say hi and renew my membership. Oh, and I do have one question for my fellow ladies dealing with redness on the legs: how are you hair removing? My legs are in such bad shape that a razor is my only option
