Alright, everyone! Metalheads, rockers, punks, funk lovers, techno freaks, rappers, and whoever else is lurking here! This thread is for you to share the story of how you first fell down the rabbit hole of your favorite genre.

Was it something you heard about online? Did someone finally give you a solid recommendation? Or maybe you just caught a random track playing somewhere and it stuck in your head? Tell us which singers or bands were your gateway drugs, and who holds the top spot in your playlist today.

For me, it went down like this. I walked over to a buddy's place one day and he hands me Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory. Yeah, go ahead and judge me! I know! I started out with Linkin Park. We blasted it through his speakers, and once the album finished, I was just... floored. That opened the floodgates. I moved from them to Limp Bizkit, then Korn, Slipknot, Papa Roach, Metallica... From that moment until now, I’ve cycled through endless amounts of nu-metal, heavy metal, thrash, power, black, doom, death, goth, hardcore, and punk—not even going to list them all. These days, my absolute favorite is old-school death metal. Bands like Benediction, Bolt Thrower, Obituary, Morbid Angel, Grave, and Death. \m/

Who says only the first two albums are actually any good? People who say that haven't even bothered to listen to the rest...
It honestly drives me crazy when people refuse to listen to a band just because they aren't some obscure underground act anymore. They turn their noses up the second a group actually finds mainstream success and starts playing arenas instead of dive bars... it’s such a shallow way to approach music.

Look, I’m not one of those people who just goes around hating, despising, or spitting on mainstream bands...

Honestly, I just couldn't get into anything they put out after Tear You Apart... It just never really clicked for me...

That whole Evolution thing is absolute garbage...👍

Oh yeah! Nothing but respect for Korn...👍 They were way too intense for me when I first started getting into heavier music, but now? I find myself listening to them every once in a while...

They were absolutely killing it right up until the Tear You Apart album, but everything after that just went downhill...👎

Nothing quite hits like the classics, especially when you're talking about albums like Life is Peachy or my absolute favorite of theirs, Follow the Leader...👍
