I was on the forum yesterday afternoon and somehow managed to avoid getting banned. First, a moderator stepped in. After just two comments regarding two closed threads—one saying it was a shame those topics were shut down, and another mentioning how tracking her basal measurement helped her conceive 😢 —and my own quick agreement 😢— she issued a warning that we aren't allowed to comment on moderator decisions. So what, are we supposed to play "clueless" like she puts it? Are we strictly forbidden from ever mentioning a closed thread again? Then, one user got banned. Another said she wouldn't comment on the situation and got banned too. Then a third, who had just joined the conversation to ask why the others were banned, got hit as well. All those posts were DELETED. For anyone who actually HAS A LIFE (unlike me, clearly) and didn't spend their entire evening scrolling through this site, there would be absolutely no way to understand why an increasing number of women are suddenly grayed out on the TZ board. Then a fourth person arrived and asked, quite innocently, why the previous users were grayed out... which apparently triggered a rule that you can't even remark on how many people are being banned. Thanks, American web forums, for these gentle moderation tactics. Honestly, I’m afraid to write anything at all, lest a moderator shows up and bans me just for participating.
Alright, staying completely on topic here: My feet are driving me insane. Specifically, my soles. It’s this hypersensitivity that’s getting to me. I actually had to kick off my Crocs just now because those little bumps inside—the ugliest, most comfortable shoes ever made—are poking me. It's maddening. Until the day before yesterday, I hadn't even noticed those bumps existed. Now, I can barely walk in them because they’re so irritating.
Donna Taylor68 said:It was an even bigger shock when I went for bloodwork; even though they have signs saying who gets priority, apparently "priority" doesn't exist there. At least that was my experience at the local community clinic in Seattle. I waited over an hour just to get my blood drawn, even though being pregnant is supposed to give me priority. It's not like I'm huge and pregnant already, but honestly, I really don't want to pick up some random bug during my first trimester 😳
Interesting. My experience at the clinic near my house was actually quite decent, thank God. I went in for a blood draw, handed over my pregnancy paperwork, and didn't expect much. Sure enough: diabetics first. Then infants and small children. After them? Me. Just me. 😲 🙏 👍 😁 Once we were done, the rest of my pregnancy could proceed. Even though we arrived "on time," we still waited an hour. But there were still about ten people behind us who had been waiting for ninety minutes or more. Honestly, kudos to the staff—they squeezed us in as soon as they cleared the high-priority cases.
Austin Ramirez3 said:Lately, moms with strollers have been driving me absolutely crazy at the grocery store. 😬 I totally get that you can't just leave a baby out on the sidewalk, but seriously, ladies—you don't need to shove the stroller to one side and then block the entire aisle with your other arm! It makes it impossible to even reach the shelves. 🤷
I honestly don't get what the goal is, but hey, maybe I'll just get a concussion from a rogue stroller today. 😁
I had an even worse experience at a supermarket once: a couple walks in, grabs separate carts, and starts coordinating who’s handling which section. Then they realize they forgot to agree on something and just STOP right in the middle of the entrance, carts side-by-side, to chat. There was nowhere to go—you couldn't get past them, and since we were at the door, you couldn't go back. They just kept talking, totally oblivious.🤦
Zachary Gray35 said:I remember once seeing a woman on here say that some acquaintance of hers deserved whatever tragedy hit her just because of how she acted. It honestly sickened me to see one woman wish that kind of thing on another, regardless of what she’d done. I wondered what kind of mindset you have to possess to even think that, let alone type it out. But look, this is a public forum; we can't see facial expressions or real-time reactions, we only see the words on the screen. That’s why it’s smart to think twice before hitting post—we don't all process things the same way. What might seem like a harmless jab to you feels like nothing but a nasty comment from one woman to another to me, especially since you only know people on MiM through their writing. 🤷
A smarter woman would have just said: God forbid she ever has to go through what I went through, and may she have an easy life with zero problems.
That’s exactly what I wished for that user mentioned earlier, and I hope that's what actually happened. 😉
I’m not the type to talk behind people's backs, so I’ll just be direct about how I saw and felt this situation. MiM wrote something—likely without thinking it through—that wasn't exactly classy. My guess? She was just angry and phrased it clumsily, which made the whole context look bad.
Furthermore, Anthony Watson35, I don't think there's any point in fanning the flames, and that's exactly what you're doing right now, which I'm not a fan of. 😉
Hats off to you; you're a better person than I am.
Let's be clear: I NEVER want anyone to endure a botched abortion and a D&C, followed by unexplained bleeding and being stuck in bed for a month, too terrified to even get up to use the bathroom. NEVER.
But for her—specifically because of how recklessly she slept with someone who clearly didn't care about my mental health (and actually ramped up the intensity once she realized it bothered me, just so we're clear)—I genuinely hope she gains at least 20 pounds that she can't lose and ends up with a backside like a heavy-duty filing cabinet. (And yes, that includes wishing her a decent husband for some regular intimacy, a successful pregnancy, and a healthy baby... plus those extra 20 pounds. I won't bother her about it, unlike her, since she made my life miserable over the 50 pounds I gained. But whatever.)
coastalowl212 said:Well, you definitely sound a bit cranky! 🙄
OT: It really bugs me when a woman—especially one who's pregnant herself—can say something like that to someone else, particularly with all that talk about weight gain. 🙄
You have a point. 🙄
OT: It irritates me when people decide to act all holier-than-thou in a thread meant for venting frustrations. 🙄
My godmother really got on my nerves last night... It’s not my fault her marriage is hitting the rocks. And it's certainly not my fault her husband was all over me. She spent the whole evening in a foul mood because of it, then had the audacity to tell me I’m going to gain 20 pounds by the end of this pregnancy. Honestly, screw her and her 20 pounds. Even while pregnant, I weigh less than she does, and I look better after a month of barely leaving the couch than she does after hitting the gym every single day! :2up: I'm pissed—but I just want to see how she handles it when she's stuck on bed rest for three months with nothing to do but go from the bed to the bathroom. Then we'll see if she gains 2 pounds or 10. :2up:
It drives me crazy when people can't bother to read a thread title. If the topic is: "What were your first pregnancy symptoms?" (real experiences), then no, it is NOT okay to just list ten symptoms and ask: "Wait, am I pregnant?" Or listing symptoms only to conclude: "Maybe I'm pregnant, but I haven't taken a test yet." Argh... 😠
Anthony Watson35 said:Right this second: The phone rings—good afternoon, this is so-and-so from [redacted] Corp, we’re calling to let you know you've won a free gift bundle featuring a magnetic bracelet that helps with... ughhhhhh... (wasn't really listening) and some "French women's perfume" (absolute riiiiiiiip 🤣 🤣 🤣); everything is totally free, delivered right to your door, all you gotta do is cover the shipping fee of $31. 🤦 Alright, starting a contest here—anyone want to guess how I responded? ☕ Seriously though, are there actually people out there where this kind of scam works?! 🤷
They called me several times in a row once. I first cut them off just so I wouldn't have to deal with perfumes. I already told them twice that I'm not interested. Do they even realize I mean it? $33 I'll just grab it at CVS. Right. Fragrance on sale? I asked them for the third time if they realized they’ve already called me twice today. The woman just hung up on me without even saying goodbye. Typical. I let it ring for the fourth time. I just didn't have the energy to deal with annoying people today. I’m not trying to be rude to those teleprompter operators—a friend of mine actually worked one of those gigs while she was in college, so I know they deal with plenty of nonsense. But calling four times in two days? That’s just crossing a line.
I’m with you on this... My skin crawled when I saw a tabloid running an "exclusive" feature: Antonia Kalako's private diary... all this talk about poverty and hope and whatever else. You just know those parents probably GIFTED them that diary to the paper, didn't they? (Maybe then they won't be so broke anymore. Honestly, you really have to specify in your will that if anything happens to you, your journals should be burned, not sold to the press.)
*Mental note: dig through the old boxes, find my high school diaries, and torch them. Nobody cares about them now, but better safe than sorry...
Yeah, sure... that's an interesting point you're making, Sarah Adams3. I work at two different schools. Since I've been at each for barely a year, I haven't really built deep connections; nobody from work is getting an invite to my wedding. I'll just buy everyone cookies next week to settle the score. In both districts, there's a tradition of chipping in for weddings, new babies, retirements... we even pooled money when someone was hit by a financial crisis or a long medical leave. At one school, I actually received a nice stainless steel dinnerware set. At the other... well, who was even getting married? We mostly chipped in for a colleague when her daughter and son-in-law lost their jobs after she had a grandchild, or for various other life events. That's about it. I'm not an envious person, and I don't view everything through a dollar sign—but if this doesn't fall under "give and take," I don't know what does.
driftingcobra7 said:Honestly, I think I might actually lose my mind over my mother-in-law’s spelling, especially when she sends me those little texts... things like "ormen" instead of cabinet, calling a saucer a "plietki tanjir," or using weird terms like "kevčija"... and don't even get me started on her asking "what are you cooking for lunch?" or saying stuff about "baby wriggling." It just drives me absolutely crazy, I guess!
I have some relatives who used to drive me insane when I was a kid, constantly asking about "making lunch" or "making coffee." Whenever they’d ask my mom what she had "made" today, I’d snap back and say, "Laundry!" because for her, dinner was always something she "made."🙄
Just venting here for a second: the bookkeeper at my vocational school is driving me absolutely insane. Two weeks ago, the head office told her to prep an unemployment claim form for me so they could consolidate everything and send it over to the Department of Labor. Today, I call the main office, and they haven't heard a single thing. Then I call this other school, and it turns out she never even made the form—and she "can't" do it now because she’s busy heading down to Florida on a field trip with students. 🎉Fantastic. She says she'll handle it when she gets back. WHEN? It's already the 27th! The freaking 27th! My deadline to get these papers filed if I want to see a dime is the 5th. That's only a week away, and she just shrugs it off like, "We'll get to it." Well, screw you; it's not your paycheck on the line.
coastalowl212 said:I’m just frustrated because I can never tell if it’s actually the baby moving or just my digestive system acting up. 😢 :not_sure: 😬
It's definitely my gut. And it’s driving me crazy. I've been lying around with terrible digestion, trying everything to fix it. I had a handful of dried apricots this morning, and now my stomach feels like it's boiling over.
Anthony Watson35 said:Exactly. And then you get some clueless reporter writing stuff like, "She picked up the languages from her parents and is now mastering them." 🤦 Give me a break. Seriously? "Mastering" things at three years old? Give me a freaking rest... I mean, sure, if you grow up with parents who have these issues, she might pick up a few basic words—roughly the same level as any kid here in the States—and now *that's* front-page news? It’s always depressing seeing these insecure losers try to fix their own baggage through innocent kids. And man, my heart goes out to the daycare workers; don't even get me started on what those teachers deal with on a daily basis... 🙄
I know those parents. I only see them in passing, but I run into them constantly—how is that even possible? They always seem to have enough free time to hover over a teacher every single day just to whine about how they're "mismanaging" their precious little ones.
coastalowl212 said:Yeah, my father-in-law told me the exact same thing while I was losing my mind vomiting multiple times a day—that it was "all in my head" and I just had to decide to stop doing it. :2up:
I honestly can't decide what's more irritating: listening to a man lecture me—someone who will never deal with morning sickness, stretch marks, swollen ankles, or getting kicked in the kidneys by a baby, let alone actually giving birth—or hearing it from another woman. You’d think women would at least have a shred of empathy. It's funny how people don't know what they're talking about until they've lived it. I've heard the most condescending comments about debilitating period cramps from other women who probably didn't even realize how lucky they were to avoid them in the first place.
I still haven't gotten over what she said last time. My hips are absolutely wrecked from an 80cm pelvis, and after standing on my feet all day at work, I'm practically in tears from the pain. Instead of helping, she starts lecturing me about how "it's all in my head," bragging about how she was out gardening during her pregnancy and eating nothing but charcoal before giving birth. I just tuned her out. I can barely even sit down in my sixth week because my hips and pelvis hurt so much. A little empathy would go a long way; we aren't all built out of solid steel.
coastalowl212 said:It honestly drives me crazy when people start pregnancy discussions with "Well, my grandma used to..." or "Our ancestors didn't have..." as if that somehow proves a point about health.
😈
It doesn't even have to be a grandmother. I hear people talking about their mothers-in-law having two healthy sons, too. Maybe I should just stay quiet.
