Breast tenderness before my period

So, let me walk you through my specific situation:
My period started on September 16th. Right before it hits, my breasts get all swollen and, I don't know, just really sore and sensitive.
That usually lasts for maybe two days while I'm actually bleeding, and then it finally settles down.
The whole thing lasts about six days, so it wraps up around the 21st.
But then, by October 2nd, they’re already starting to ache and swell up again.
I mean, I totally get that these symptoms are normal, but it's kind of throwing me off because my girlfriends tell me they only feel this way a few days or maybe a week before their period starts. For me, it feels like it's happening up to two weeks before I even see blood!
