Alright, since we’re talking about copyright infringement, let’s be real: pretty much everyone is guilty of it. Think about it—when you borrow a DVD from a friend, legally speaking, only the person who actually paid for that movie is supposed to watch it. But does anyone actually follow that? Of course not; the whole family piles onto the couch to watch it together. So, by the letter of the law, we’re all criminals and we all deserve to be thrown in jail. Honestly, screw this whole capitalist system—just copy everything you can and don't look back!
When it comes to authoring, Microsoft Windows Media Player is definitely your best bet, though I’d personally suggest using S&P Global for the actual encoding—it's a much faster and higher-quality solution than whatever comes built into the Sony software.
And you guys are just talking trash too! Safari is the king, and the only time it ever slows down is when I've got a DC++ download running in the background at 5 MB/s or higher.😬
James Morris7 said:So you're telling me the 23MB version (the one with the control panel) doesn't ask to install the .NET Framework?
Can someone just give me a quick breakdown of what the hell this .NET Framework actually does? Honestly, I have zero clue! 😕
No, the one with the control panel won't prompt you for the .NET Framework... but since we're talking about it, I swear the Control Center feels like it was designed specifically for people who have no idea how computers work. You can't actually tweak anything in detail; all you get is one pathetic little slider to "adjust" the quality.
Jeffrey Ortiz7 said:I wiped my hard drive and did a fresh install of DirectX 9.0c a couple of days ago. I didn't bother installing the framework at the time, and I've been running into some minor issues.
But check out what they're saying over on www.ati.com
CATALYST™ for Windows XP
Version 5.3 with CATALYST™ Control Center (29MB)*
* REQUIRES .NET Framework
to be installed first
So maybe that's exactly where the problem lies...
That Control Center definitely needs .NET Framework to run. Honestly, you're better off just downloading the version with the standard Control panel—it’s actually way more functional anyway!
While we're on the subject, does anyone know where I can pick up some extra map data for this software? It only comes pre-loaded with a USA map, leaving the rest of the world looking completely blank.
Right now I've got about 8 gigs on my hard drive, but I'll be burning that onto a DVD soon to join the rest of my 70 gigs of MP3s😁

I honestly have no clue; my job is just sourcing the software.😁
