There’s no hardware failure in a monitor that would force it into 16-bit mode. This is software. It’s either the drivers—either from the monitor itself or the GPU—or some kind of system conflict.
Try a clean sweep. Uninstall the drivers for the motherboard, the graphics card, and the monitor. Then reinstall them in the right order: motherboard first, then the GPU, then the monitor.

Regarding those drivers, that .ini file you found usually just accompanies them; it's essentially just a description file. Have you checked the manufacturer's official website yet? Assuming they still offer support for that specific model.

Money is tight right now... I've already got those three fans listed above. Can't afford to swap them out, so I'd just pick up a CPU cooler.

Are you certain that's the best fan for some serious overclocking? What's your take on Zalman?

Looks like it handles overclocking pretty well.

I don't know much about this setup. Up until now, I've just stuck with Arctic Cooling coolers that have built-in fans.
Will this passive block, paired with two 80mm Cooler Master fans on the side and a 120mm at the rear, actually be enough to keep a ~4.0GHz beast cool?

But looking at the prices and performance of everything else, it'd be a waste not to grab it and push this rig to its limit...

BTW, what's the deal with revisions? How much difference can two revisions of the same chip actually make? I saw a few Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 units clocked past 4.0GHz, and they were all Rev. B2.

Revision B2. Max stable FSB is 537. Multipliers run from 6x to 9x.

By the way, those links aren't working. Can you just list the names of the coolers instead?

How far could I push my E6600(2400MHz) if I upgraded the cooling? Any specific BIOS settings you'd suggest? I tried bumping it up with my Freezer, but it hits 65° once I cross 3500 MHz.

Which certified AV tests have you actually looked at?
How many different AV programs did you go through before settling on Bitdefender?
In your opinion, how is Bitdefender better than Norton, a multi-time VirusBulletin champion? 👎

I've cycled through plenty of free and commercial AV suites, scanners, and whatnot...
Norton is the best I've used. It stays out of the way, updates automatically, scans fast, and as far as I can tell, has the most advanced heuristics on the market.
