I'm honestly not sure what the deal is. I've got another fan tucked behind the case, but it's pressed right up against the Big Typhoon, so maybe it just isn't exhausting properly or something.

Here are my temps running with the Big Typhoon. I'm not really sure why they're hitting these numbers, since everything is just idling at stock settings

It's pretty close to the side, maybe about 3 cm away.

So, I basically just threw money down the drain. I really thought I could push this thing up to 3 GHz
but clearly, there's a limit I can't hit. When I clocked it at 3 GHz and ran Orthos for about five minutes, the temps jumped straight to 72. All that money spent on a massive Hurricane cooler for nothing, I guess. Not sure what happened though.

Mine’s an X2. Might just be the airflow in my case, I guess.

Ended up going with the big Typhoon after all.
I haven't even touched the overclocking yet, but I ran Orthos at stock settings and Everest shows these temps under full load:
CPU: 42
Core 1: 59
Core 2: 59
Does that seem right, or should they be lower given I've got the big Typhoon? Just to be clear, this was all done while the CPU was still running at default frequency.

What do you guys think about this cooler? Is it actually worth the money?

What kind of cooling would you guys suggest for $100 on a CPU?

Is it actually possible for a motherboard to die just because you're overclocking the CPU?

Just putting Core Temp and EasyTune side by side here. Which one's actually more reliable? My BIOS says I'm idling at about 28, but Core Temp is hitting 42. Maybe one of them is just being dramatic.

3DMark runs smoothly without any issues, and I guess my score ends up about 1,000 points higher.

Maybe I should just bump up the CPU voltage?

It seems pretty stable. I guess I'm just wondering if selecting everything—voltage, temp, and fans—in Orthos might be causing issues, since the default is usually just temp. It doesn't throw any errors when I'm offline, but after surfing the web for maybe 20 minutes, an error pops up.

Alright. Just wanted to ask one more thing. Once I get everything set up in the BIOS and hit save, the PC acts like it's shutting down and then restarting itself. Is that actually normal? It only seems to happen when I'm overclocking the CPU.

Maybe it's better to stay under the radar so things don't get messy. I'm gonna run a quick test now. So, I just carry on with my work on the PC while Orthos runs their tests?
