Nervcik & Korkyra, thanks for the advice 🙂 . I’m going to stick strictly to the dietary guidelines; hopefully, I'll start seeing some actual progress soon. And you're right about the stress factor—I've definitely noticed my symptoms flare up whenever things get intense.
Help me out here. I’ve been struggling with skin changes on my elbows for about 15 years now. My initial diagnosis from a GP was psoriasis, so I followed the standard routine: Belosalic, various heavy moisturizers, and constant efforts to keep the skin hydrated. Since the affected area was relatively small and hadn't spread—just the tips of my elbows—I never bothered seeing a dermatologist. Honestly, I figured they wouldn't be any more helpful than my regular doctor anyway. The patches haven't expanded, but they haven't cleared up either; even when the redness fades, I'm left with pigmented spots and rough, thickened skin. Interestingly, sunlight and being near the ocean seem to help. The scaling isn't that classic silvery type; it's more yellowish, and it doesn't really itch. Two years ago, things shifted. I started getting these changes on my hands—specifically on my fingers, though not around the joints. It looks like thickened skin, almost like tiny warts, accompanied by dryness, cracking, and lesions. A dermatologist finally performed a biopsy, and the result came back as: pseudoform psoriatic dermatitis. Whatever that's supposed to mean. Following that, I was prescribed Belosalic and then switched to a 5% salicylate in Vaseline for about ten days. I’ve also been trying to protect the skin using Uriage Barieder, but that actually made things worse by drying me out even further (and considering the price tag is a mere 😠), it feels like a waste).
I have tried just about every herbal cream imaginable—calendula, aloe, shea butter, olive oil—but the results have been mediocre at best, if not nonexistent. The irritation always recurs in the exact same spot; it recedes slightly and then flares right back up, though it remains localized and hasn't spread (at least for now, 🙏).
Does this sound like psoriasis to you? Even the head of the dermatology department (yes, I actually ended up seeing the big shot for once) couldn't give me a definitive answer based on the biopsy results. Or should I perhaps look into allergy testing? 😕
