Why isn't Splend trending on Reddit anymore?
I don't see her on the list today🤷

Is this just the usual drama orchestrated by those untouchable moderators running our broken subreddit?🙂

No way! Can't you see there are SPECIFIC PEOPLE being constantly brought up here 😲 😱 tirurirutirurirutiruriru 😲

hollowsailor48—your personal issues are yours alone and they don't belong here, especially when you're venting them with that kind of attitude.
If you can't keep up, then just step aside.

And there's zero point in attacking Nicholas King. He's been part of that PDF for ages and he's contributed his fair share... not that you'd notice, given you're supposed to be a mod.

I’m just wondering why every single time—and I mean every time—someone mentions Trash on the PŽK, you show up with lightning speed... and yet, you never actually write anything useful, explain a thing, or give a meaningful answer to any questions. No, you just troll.☕

But when you actually have the time😲🤣

it's funny how you're suddenly never too busy to show up immediately on the PŽK.

I’m honestly just as fed up. I’ve been avoiding my favorite PDF for months now!
This whole situation is unacceptable on so many levels. What bugs me most is how they treat us—like we're just some bottom-of-the-barrel garbage that doesn't even deserve a simple answer to a basic question.
We’ve been sitting around waiting for months. We spent two and a half months just staying quiet, praying for some kind of miracle🙄, and even then, nothing works. Then I take a look at the trashed community board, and I see moderators being swapped out on a monthly, sometimes even weekly basis, all in this desperate attempt to fix things.

And yet, we haven't even received a single response.🙂

Look, the goal is obviously to get rid of the garbage. I don't see what else it could be.🤷

Here’s the thing: people leave on their own. They tear themselves apart... we're basically going to destroy ourselves while the supervisors just sit there watching.🙄

Besides, it’s incredibly rare for a huge group of users on a single forum to beg for help for months on end... and still not get it. What's the actual issue here?😕

One-on-one meetings are what we call parent-teacher conferences, and every single school, grade level, and teacher already conducts them. Parent meetings—the group kind—are something else entirely; those aren't meant for debating grades, but rather for discussing topics that affect all parents in that grade... things like field trips, the yearly curriculum, and similar ongoing "logistical issues."
Conferences are always held one-on-one and remain completely private,,,

And how on earth do you propose changing homeroom teachers every year? Typically, one professor leads their assigned class for four years. First, they take them from 1st through 4th grade, then another takes over from 5th through 8th. What would even be the point of changing that? What would actually improve if a new teacher arrived every single year, other than the fact that they wouldn't know their students at all? It would take them an eternity just to figure out the classroom dynamic while trying to establish any semblance of communication or trust with the parents..

Furthermore, the number of children in a classroom is determined solely by the Department of Education, and no individual school has any say in that matter. There are strict state regulations regarding the minimum and maximum number of students allowed per class. If the situation arises where two classes can be filled with 30 students each, a school cannot simply decide on its own to split them into three classes of 20.

This thread is wild. The stuff being said here is fascinating.

Look—if you swap out the homeroom teacher every year...🤦
I don't even have words for that.

So what, we just keep the private conferences and scrap the group parent meetings altogether??😕🤦
Private check-ins happen all the time, sometimes ten times a day if needed. Group meetings usually only happen two or three times a year and focus on the big picture issues.

I can't believe what I'm reading.

And besides—if you rack up debt knowing your income is about to dry up, how exactly do you plan on paying it back? You think you'll just work off the interest? 🤷🤣

Whatever. I'm going for a run...😛

No one pressured your kid to take it, yet he did.
When you take something, you pay it back. Period. Even if she hadn't asked for the money back, the decent thing would be to return it.

I’d honestly rather eat gravel for a week than knowingly put a child in that kind of spot—especially since you mentioned he's already shy and anxious. All this just so you could have $3.25(which you already had)... Honestly, I wouldn't even let him go on the trip. At least then I'd know there won't be another one in a few days just because a teacher needs a new bag. It's pathetic how this conversation turned into a total smear campaign against educators. Seriously, shame on you.
Elementary school teachers in Students & Teens ·
Look, you literally admitted right here that you take your kid to McDonald's whenever you get the chance. From what I can tell, you weren't even bothered by the fast food trips or the fact that the teacher covered the kid's lunch. The real issue is that she actually had the nerve to ask for that money back.
Yeah, this whole mess wouldn't even be an issue if the woman hadn't demanded repayment.
If she hadn't, everything would be fine.☕

Rachel Jones8 said:Ever run into those families that just hit up the malls to blow cash on gifts and candy?
Those families on tighter budgets... you know, the ones who might just get a single candy bar under the tree, maybe some socks or gloves, or just a little something small to make it feel like Christmas? $3.25Can they ever just be happy?
Wait, they don't even have a family?!?!
If you really think that, the guy is seriously pathetic... but what's your deal? Are you his sister, his girlfriend, or some random grandparent?
It’s not about who’s right or wrong, it’s just me. I couldn't stand watching my kid deal with all that fighting and crying every single time... honestly, I ended up divorcing his father because he was too busy catering to his own mother instead of actually stepping up for his kids. Is it the child's fault? No. But seeing them look on like that—seeing how they compare themselves to other kids who get everything handed to them—it's heartbreaking. Though, if I'm being real, I haven't actually seen him look that sad yet.

So, what’s the deal now? Does he actually look bummed out or what? Is he feeling down because money is tight? Or maybe it's because he doesn't have any family around—you know, with his mom and siblings still in the picture?
So, for Saint Nicholas, you only wanted candy and firecrackers? That's it?

That's it?
What should you even expect for Saint Nicholas Day? Honestly, mine never got anything more than some candy.

You’re totally overreacting and making a mountain out of a molehill. What’s the big deal if I told her to bring the cash herself instead of having her mom send it?
If I had to drop my mom off at school, I’d act like it was some huge ordeal, you know? And if she had to pay back money I lent her—even if I just did it to be helpful—I wouldn't mind at all. Once that's out of the way, if there's still drama, nobody's stopping you from heading over there and talking it out face-to-face. Right?
Look, paying back money you borrowed isn't some huge deal. Even a ten-year-old should be able to do that without making a whole thing out of it. Unless, of course, someone else decides to turn it into a massive drama—kind of like how you’re acting right now.

Facts!

James Perez54 said:I am a parent, and being critical of teachers is my right.

This teacher is just one more insignificant, pathetic soul among many, but unfortunately, she's the one working with children.

And no, I’m not bitter about my own grades or my child's; I was an honor student myself, and my son is (so far) an honor student too.

Better to just let this one slide.:🤦

Kimberly Robinson2 said:Like I already said, she found out while she was actually buying his lunch. And she was pissed because they didn't even ask for parental permission—they just did it on the sly, tucked away under a desk or something. It’s just not right.

And again, I’ve made my point: my kid is officially off the hook for kitchen duty now. I figure if I hand over the cash, the teacher can just check with the school office to see how I can afford McDonald's but apparently don't have enough for the kitchen fees!

The kitchen fee is probably $80 or $30, I can't remember the exact amount, but this whole trip is only about $60 total. That's practically the same price as the kitchen fee, and honestly, he'll end up eating most of it anyway. Even if he's a tiny thing—what, under 65 pounds?—it still adds up. 😢

It's a double-edged Mac.

Totally forgot about this part... wow, just great.
And then you're supposed to let everything fall apart at school through a little kid, with the teacher cornering him for money... meanwhile, you're being the ADULT by refusing to go to her, return the cash, and explain your private finances.

The teacher isn't acting like an adult here.🙄
Elementary school teachers in Students & Teens ·
Kimberly Robinson2 said:Do you even have a clue how many times that actually happens in a year?

You have no idea... but hey, at least you finally figured out what you actually wanted.

Whenever I get the chance, I try to fit about two to five of these trips into my life story every year... which, honestly, sounds like a massive amount, doesn't it? ☕

I’d honestly rather just take him to the community pool for that same amount of money.

You're right about one thing—this wouldn't even be an issue if she had just handled things like an adult. But she didn't.

Ugh, sorry, but you're getting boring with all this "life story" talk. I already said it doesn't matter for this topic.

It's not just "frequent," it's more than enough.

Look, just take him somewhere. Teach him yourself at home. Who's stopping you?
But don't expect someone else to feed your kid for free.

Yeah, right. And what "adult way" are we talking about here??
Did you actually act like an adult?
The woman told the kid to tell his mom what happened and asked her to send money through the kid tomorrow. Did you send it?
No.
Did you show up for the meeting?
No.

What do you even want from her?
Elementary school teachers in Students & Teens ·
Kimberly Robinson2 said:No way. First off, you don't eat in a movie theater—it's just not how it works.

And that question of yours? It’s pretty damn provocative, isn't it?

And for all those people who keep insisting that he "borrowed" it—or that she "lent" it to him—let me stop you right there: that’s just plain wrong. He didn't ask for it, and I certainly didn't go asking her to lend it to him. She just handed it over because she didn't want to be the only one sitting there without anything to eat. Fine, whatever... but let's play this out—if I hadn't signed him up for that summer camp in the woods, would she have "lent" him that, too?

The whole thing boils down to her deciding—all on her own, mind you—that she was going to lend something out. Nobody actually asked her to do that. Look, I’m glad she stepped up and was generous, really, I am, but I feel like I've said this a hundred times already: she could have just made it simple. She could have just sent her mom to the school to handle it, but no—instead, she tells him to tell me, and then somehow it turns into me having to send the money through him! It's just unnecessary drama.

She couldn't have given him that money unless he took it himself!!
The kid took the money. It's not like she forced him to grab it, dragged him by the arm, or threatened to get him expelled just to make him order that famous Happy Meal!
If she offered him the cash with the understanding that he'd pay it back, and he took it—then it's a LOAN!

She didn't just hand him the cash and stay quiet, only to chase him around the school the next day demanding it back.🙄

James Perez54 said:If she felt that bad about it, she could have just treated that one single child at her own expense, rather than lining the parents' pockets and, even worse, putting the little one in such an awkward position.
And if the parents insist on returning the money, fine; if not, also fine.

This is a textbook example of someone being rigid and lacking spontaneity, and people like that shouldn't be working in education.

Honestly, people like that wouldn't even make good parents, yet here we are.🤷

nimbletrucker132 said:I honestly can't let this pass without pointing out that we've already burned through twelve pages discussing the whole saga involving $7.00, McDonald's, the teacher, and that "what-is-this-even" situation. It feels like we're barely scratching the surface; I suspect there's a much deeper, more complex backstory here that we haven't even begun to grasp.

Btw. Joshua Parker11, any chance you're actually that teacher in question? 😬

😁
Nah... if it were my kid, I wouldn't even bother asking for the money back. I'd rather starve for three days straight.😁
But hey, I'm totally backing the teacher on this one.

Also, if I were a parent, I'd seriously rather go hungry for three days just so my kid could have $3.25 for their field trip—especially since I KNOW they're hitting up McD's, and my kid lives for those fries.

Kimberly Robinson2 said:How on earth was I supposed to know?? 🤷
I knew about the beach trip because there were three different parent meetings about it.

And where exactly did I say she was the only one to blame? 🤷
We are talking about the basic principle of supply and demand here!

It was nice of her to give him money, sure, but she didn't need to pull him aside again the next day and ask if he brought it, knowing full well I couldn't give him anything since I didn't have any. And if he told her I'd come down to the school... Well, since she was asking him, I ended up heading over there to find him.

Does McDonald's even have fries for $1.75? 😕🤷

And where does it say that I don't realize I'm in the wrong? 🤷

The kid TOOK the money even though she told him he had to pay it back.
Period. He didn't have to take it, but he did. Nobody forced his hand!
You should've just settled it with her and been done with it.

Kimberly Robinson2 said:People are making such a huge deal out of $1.75 for ice cream! Seriously, it’s summer! He never gets ice cream at McDonald's because it’s just not the kind he actually likes. He strictly sticks to a burger for a few bucks plus fries, a soda, some ranch, or just grabs a Happy Meal. But the kid can't even figure it out himself—he's just too quiet, too passive. I barely even drag him out for ice cream in the summer (I have to force him to learn how to just go buy a scoop). I asked him if he could order what he wanted on his own, and he said no. I know he needs to learn independence, but he’s honestly never been to McDonald's without me. And honestly, I try to avoid going there anyway since it's all junk food. He doesn't care for pizza at all, but he likes other things. I’d much rather spend my money on stuff he actually enjoys that's higher quality than what you get at McDonald's.
And regarding those famous $1.75 for ice cream—my kid would be the only one licking it while everyone else ate, and then what? What would they even do with that? Nothing. I'd just end up being the "bad mom" again...

Exactly. When we head into a big city like Chicago or take a trip on the SNC, if we have the cash, we go and buy him what he wants to eat.

I could also point out that people who claim $6.75 is too much money aren't the ones paying for optional summer programs for kids from $400.

Optional? That's practically part of the curriculum! You're either there or you're missing class! And everyone goes to the beach. Every single kid in his class goes! Including all those five social cases who somehow always have plenty of extra cash despite receiving government assistance!
And like I already said, I'm not the one footing the bill for that.
Honestly, I hate dropping nearly $200 when that same money could cover more than a week at the beach for the three of us!

The biggest issue is that the mother didn't step in to handle this with the teacher so it wouldn't happen again; instead, she let the little guy handle it himself while the teacher keeps pulling his arm.

Why do you keep repeating yourself?? 🤷
I've already written this a few times...
But since you're asking, I'll say it again—hopefully for the last time:

1. I didn't go because I had another obligation that morning. Plus, we went to the movies!
2. The next day, I decided I was going to pay her back since he took the money himself, just so he learns that if he takes something, he has to return it!

And everyone went to McDonald's. EVERYONE in his class goes!🤷

So, it's really just the teacher's fault.
And I'm repeating $1.75 because you could have just bought fries.
And I'm repeating the part about leaving a kid in that situation because YOU are the one at fault here, and you just don't see it.

Anyway, I sign off on everything Jacob Sanders34 said, from start to finish.
