Emily Kelly65 said:It doesn't necessarily have to be horror—just something unsettling. The idea is to avoid being explicit about what scares you; instead, you drop subtle hints that let the reader or viewer fill in those blanks with their own personal nightmares. Isn't that the real trick? You end up scaring yourself with exactly what you fear most.

To’s an excellent principle—if I’m being honest.

That’s really it. You can't kill what you can't see—and apparently, leaving that kind of imagery burned into the viewer's mind is just as effective as drowning them in liters of blood and guts.
Old School horror principles—they just don't make them like they used to, do they? In my opinion, the only major director still somewhat practicing that craft is Carpenter.

goldenhound32 said:That sounds great in theory—but like I said, I haven't actually tried it yet. Maybe I just don't have any fears? 🙂

Horror novels are generally more unsettling than their film counterparts—isn't that just how it works? And even if you don't personally experience fear... well, that doesn't change the fact. It doesn't have to mean anything at all.

I have a massive phobia of heights—so, naturally, I’m about to lose control of my bladder during Hitchcock's Vertigo.🙂
There’s just one thing about horror movies that always gets under my skin—though I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

Damned worms. Those little white things.🙂

goldenhound32 said:So, if that's the case—why on earth did he keep showing up at her shop?

He was just bored—those small-town types are all cut from the same cloth. They’re everywhere in our neck of the woods now. Honestly, what’s the point? We can't even get a full day's visit out of them without stopping at a Whole Foods to grab a beer. 😉

goldenhound32 said:Not really. He just beat him with a stick—halfway out of the frame, no less.

Well, honestly—why wouldn't he just take the easy way out and cut him down? It’s much simpler to just sideline him, sit back in a comfy chair, and enjoy a cold Budweiser.

If they actually broadcasted a scene of dogs being slaughtered at a local farmer's market, there’d be an immediate lynch mob aimed straight at Considine—not to mention all that PETA nonsense.
Better than some video of a total hack—though I suppose we've seen enough of those lately?🤷
Honestly, when it comes to those kinds of brutal schemes—the stuff that doesn't even make the final cut of the movie—it’s the unseen parts that actually mess with your head more than what you actually see, isn't it?

goldenhound32 said:Why on earth did he let her go?

After eight hundred years, some semblance of light finally enters his life—and he just pushes it away. 🤷

That’s just how those types are wired. Mullan's characterization is spot on—he's the absolute antithesis to Olivia Colman's character. A total misanthrope, xenophobic, and misogynistic... someone who has completely lost faith in humanity and refuses to trust anyone.
It seems like Pasa just lives for being a true believer, doesn't he?

God, that was brutal—the way he absolutely slaughtered that guy from Staffordshire. I can't say I felt much sympathy, though—it was pretty obvious the dog was written to die anyway.
Paradise Lost (2013) in Movies ·
I’m holding out hope for a third installment of that absolute masterpiece Paradise Lost: Child Murders at Robin Hood Hill—though we might be waiting until the cows come home.

edit: And honestly? I can't stand Bradley Cooper either.

Alexander Cruz32 said:I watched that ages ago—nothing special, actually quite tedious. The visuals are striking and genuinely impressive, but the film itself? Nothing to write home about.
Planet Earth is much better.

Planet Earth is easily one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. It’s brilliant.👍👍

goldenhound32 said:I wasn't even referring to it as a scientific discipline... if you disagree, then elaborate instead of just throwing out an opinion without any actual argumentation to counter mine.

My intention was simply to point out that Justin Fowler5's reasoning is flawed. She was essentially arguing that increasing interest would somehow lead to someone undeserving winning the award—a level of illogic that even Forrest Gump wouldn't have dreamed up.

Man, he’s such an idiot. Just messing around. "Why so serious?"—that's what a Jack Nicholson Joker would say. You can tell I was halfway through making my coffee. 👍

Why don't you sit down? One point for Probability and Statistics. Logic, as a formal discipline, has nothing to do with this.☕😂

Heh. Looks like goldenhound32, punk rock, and I are all stuck in that same 8th or 9th place bracket—whatever you want to call it. The curse of number 23, I suppose? Not exactly a disaster, though. It was a great game. Personally, I felt... well, something else entirely. A shame Nishan doesn't have more time on his hands. When are we seeing the next Dragorage? 😂
And just further proof that Old Man Winter is still out there—hanging around the forum and dropping Blu-ray movies. Heh.

"Impressive turnout," he says. ☕

I recognize that signature from somewhere—funny how that works. Just more typical IM nonsense. 👍

It really was a solid game—honestly. Anthony Smith3 did an incredible job putting it together. My only gripe? I can't believe they didn't include any nods to The Shining or Easy Rider.

The differences I got were 9, 9, 8... honestly, thank god he changed the rules so that you only get points if everything is correct. Otherwise, it would have been a joke where someone who didn't even bother looking for differences or answering was actually in a better position than someone who put in the work to find them but missed one or two out of ten or fifteen.

Oh, great. In that case, I’ll be losing a trillion points. 🤦
Honestly, hunting for those differences is just exhausting.

Until then—who cares, right? Heh.
I have a feeling I might have messed up those movie guesses—you know, trying to figure out which film was which in that picture where they showed three movies at once? Since I'm a bit colorblind—just certain shades, mind you—it's easy to trip up.🤷

briskhound2 said:Personally, I’m totally lost—whether it’s the first names, the last names, or just trying to keep them all straight together. But man, you gotta admit, it’s a brilliant little puzzle... It’s just those actors that are absolutely killing me. I know for the first one we've got Hooper, Bacon, and John C. Reilly. But who the hell is the fourth one? Same deal with the second part. I managed to catch Brosnan and Keitel, but that's about it.

In the first, I'm thinking it's Wahlberg, but in the second, those are definitely the lips of Guillermo del Toro.
for movie 12 is The Crybaby Killer, more or less.

nimblecrane20 said:Alright, someone (or an American if they actually know this 🙂) tell me: who directed the first and fourth movies, and what's that third film in the collage (besides Blood & Wine and The Witches of Eastwick)?

It's killing me that I can't remember 😵

I know 😉 but I'm not telling.
Where's the Dragon? Honestly, I'd love to see more solutions too. But there's something else bothering me. 😕

briskhound2 said:honestly, words are just extra noise 🙏

hahaha. just sitting here drunk as a skunk—honestly, this made my day. I’m practically exhausted from laughing. What an absolute character, this American guy.🙏🙏
Nothing else to say, he’s a true Dragon —maybe even some kind of phantom veteran from a non-existent registry. 😂

briskhound2 said:The forum crashed around 8:30 PM—give or take a few minutes—because I could barely even get through the lag to scramble in my last response. So, yeah, there was roughly three and a half hours left on the clock...

What happened to you guys the other night? The forum is constantly glitching out. For me, things started going south around 7:00 PM, and it kept kicking me off. I actually had to write some of my replies down on paper.
And sure, I did end up submitting on the very last day right before the deadline—because, let's face it, I don't have much free time when I'm out of the house. And then, naturally, the server dies.

Look, it’s not his fault, and it isn't our fault either. Just bad luck, I guess. If they decide to be reasonable about it, great—that would be fair. If not, it's fine too. Life goes on.👍

Everything's finished—just about to hit send. Honestly, they should probably extend the deadline, too; the server has been acting up for two days now.

Christian Taylor3 said:I’ve still got exactly 11 questions left to tackle. 🙈

And just look at how much work I've actually put in. Good grief, seriously, I am such a total idiot. 😁

Man, what a disaster, where on earth are the answers??? You haven't even touched a single one of them! 😠

And me too—just exhausted, working myself to the bone all day long. What a life—when you can't even participate in a sweepstakes for Jack Nicholson like a normal person.😕😂

Who knows if there were even any attempts, or if I should just go throw in the towel.🤷

Anthony Smith3 said:Don't even go there...😉 😁

No worries... I got it all figured out👍

No problem... it'll work out eventually👍

Thanks for the insight. I have to hand it to your Photoshop skills—I didn't even notice there was someone else in the middle of the shot.😂 Only a tiny part of what I saw was actually on the left side.

When can we expect the third question, assuming it isn't top secret? Just trying to plan my schedule.

Anthony Smith3 said:Alright, enough playing around... let's get down to business. hehe😁👍

Starting off easy...

QUESTION NO. 1.

How many differences can you spot in the image below? Whatever you do, do NOT mark them, describe them, or mention what they are! Just find them, add them up, and shoot me a PM with the total number. If you find all of them, you win 3 points. Find half, and you get 1.5 points. Anything less than half results in -1 point. I'll post the correct answer on Friday, Oct 29th. NOTE 1 - Send your answers via PM only. NOTE 2 - The deadline to submit is midnight on Thursday, Oct 28th.

As they say... keep your eyes peeled...

Thanks.
Mixed. Hmm. Does that sentence above—the one in italics and underlined—actually help? 👍 Well, that was brief. Is there actually a point to this?
As if anyone actually cares about following the rules?
Negative. Here is the first task.
We might just end up staring at a blank screen—if we can even get it to turn on.
Optimistic? Perhaps. So, did you finally manage to scrub the grime off your laptop screen? 👍

I’ve replied to both my first and second questions—hopefully, they actually made it through.☕

What kind of dream was I having? Honestly—was I blind? How did I even miss those numbers in the other thread while staring right at them? 🤦 Well, hopefully there’s actually something to show for it—fingers crossed?
🙂
