Budget PC build under $450

I am looking for advice on a desktop build for $1000 since my current laptop can no longer keep up with modern technology.
Current specs:
Intel Core i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30Ghz
4,00 GB RAM
64-bit OS
Ati Radeon 7670 M 1 gb
500 GB HDD
I would appreciate it if someone could put together a build that offers slightly better performance than this laptop for $1000, if possible. Ideally, I want something with room for future upgrades—meaning a decent motherboard. I am a novice here, so I am relying on you all to provide a solution. =D
