So, Dustin Johnson—who happens to be Wayne Gretzky's future son-in-law—just tested positive for cocaine. That’s apparently his third time in four years.
The test went down back in mid-June during the US Open.
Even with all that drama, Johnson still managed to walk away with a fourth-place finish at the tournament.

It's basically a done deal; I wouldn't be surprised if Jordan Spieth ends up outperforming Garcia.

There’s still plenty of golf left to play. Rory McIlroy is sitting on a four-stroke lead, but things could get pretty interesting today at The Open Championship.
For the first time ever, they're starting from the 1st and 10th tees because the weather forecast looks pretty rough.
As you can see, we're dealing with heavy rain and wind. It’s that classic UK weather, definitely not that bright sunshine and dead calm air we saw on day one.

What an absolute win for Martin Kaymer!

An eight-stroke lead! And then you’ve got the commentators over at NBC acting like it's just boring. Funny how that works—back when Tiger Woods was crushing it like that, everyone thought it was the greatest thing ever.

But man, you have to tip your cap to Erik Compton. The guy has actually had heart surgery twice—once back in '92 when he was only 12, and again in '08 at age 28—and he still manages to pull off a second-place finish at the US Open. That’s pretty wild.

Personally, I'd love to see Henrik Stenson take it, though I don't mind Martin Kaymer either. As long as some American doesn't win, I'm good.😬

Maybe Ma Martin pulls it off. Though, honestly, it's pretty hard to call anything in golf.

The Europeans seem to be finding their rhythm lately. This year's Ryder Cup should be a fun one to watch.

Scott Collins30 said:It feels a bit weird that everyone’s obsessed with football while nobody’s watching the US Open. Martin Kaymer has been absolutely killing it so far, so we should probably see if he can actually hold onto that lead through the final round. Honestly, Pinehurst No. 2 is proving to be a beast once again, and I guess I have to admit I’m kind of digging this whole 'rustic' vibe they've got going on. 😁

I'm hoping Kaymer pulls it off.
They set those flags way too easy for the final day of a tournament like this, if you ask me.

I'm with you on that. Total Bubba - redneck vibes.

Langer Jebenti, I feel for Sergio Jimenez, he was sitting at -4 through the front nine...

The "cigar and Rioja" guy is killing it again today.

The 11th hole today looks absolutely brutal. I feel like birdies are going to be super rare there, and most players will probably just be happy to walk away with a par.

Jose Newman32 said:Every single time I think Martin Kaymer might actually show up for a major, he just plays a round that’s impossible to forget—for all the wrong reasons.

Even the Germans aren't what they used to be...

Man, what is Lee Westwood wearing? That outfit is something else.

Pretty decent conditions, almost zero wind expected through Sunday. Still, should be an interesting one to watch.
Phil Mickelson is struggling out there.

you forgot the cigar

No cigar. And definitely no ice in the whiskey.

I guess I'll just root for Rory McIlroy and all the non-Americans.

Just sitting here in front of the TV with a glass of whiskey on the side. Pure bliss.

The Masters Tournament starts today.

I've been looking forward to this. Caught the Par 3 event yesterday; it was a decent little warmup before the real deal, and Ryan Moore pulled off the win.

Thankfully, I won't be watching it at the Country Club.

Jose Newman32 said:Most of today’s coverage felt pretty poorly directed to me. I was watching Sky, so maybe they just had a specific feed designed to hype up their homegrown guys, which explains why they kept pushing Westwood and McIlroy.

I guess I agree that it was cool to look back at 2011 when Tiger Woods hitting ball into water basically cost everything, starting from hole 15 and ending with that string of bogeys, if I recall correctly.

But, I don't get why they didn't show Scott even once, especially since he was sitting at -7 at one point, only four strokes back from the lead and looking for a birdie.

To be honest, Dufner winning is just totally uninteresting to me. He has zero charisma; if I were actually looking for someone more bland and unlikable, I probably wouldn't have found anyone else.

The only thing he's really known for is "dufnering"

Jose Newman32 said:The coverage here is just a disaster. I haven't seen Adam Scott in like 40 minutes even though he’s sitting at -6.

I don't get why they keep pushing Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood; it's just filler shots of empty spaces for 40 seconds at a time. It sucks.

The British really nailed it with The Open, but this current broadcast is just pathetic.

CBS on top of it today. Timing perfect as they show Dufner hit ball in water on15 in 2011.
Building the drama before the shot!

2013 PGA Championship
Aug 8-11 - Oak Hill, Rochester, New York, United States - Purse: $8,000,000
Leaderboard - R1 R2 R3 R4 Total

1 Jim Furyk -5 -2 -2 – -9
2 Jason Dufner -2 -7 +1 – -8
3 Henrik Stenson -2 -4 -1 – -7
4 Jonas Blixt -2 E -4 – -6
T5 Steve Stricker -2 -3 E – -5
T5 Adam Scott -5 -2 +2 – -5

My guess? Maybe Stenson or Scott.

Jose Newman32 said:The Open Championship is underway, and everyone’s predictably rooting for Tiger Woods and Adam Scott (the guy who’s basically just a walking marketing campaign)

I guess those conditions at Muirfield today are definitely playing into Tiger Woods' hands.

Seems like a few too many Americans sitting at the top right out of the gate.
Maybe there'll be a bit less wind for them tomorrow morning, but I'm guessing we'll see some nice weather for the rest of the tournament.

quietfox38 said:Phil Mickelson finishes as runner-up at the US Open for the sixth time; honestly, he looked like he was about to break down in tears at the end. 😢

Lefty just can't catch a break. Though, if I'm being honest, he kind of brought it on himself. That call to leave his driver out of the bag turned out to be a massive mistake on the final day, especially on those 3rd and 5th holes.

Justin Rose has been playing some really solid golf lately. He was such a key part of Europe's victory at the Ryder Cup.
I still remember back in 1998 when he finished fourth at The Open Championship as an amateur. Everyone thought he was going to be the next big thing, but then he turned pro at 18 and missed the cut in 21 straight tournaments. Still, the guy didn't quit.
