I had surgery ten days ago, and because I was constantly needing to pee in the ICU, the nurses tried to put in a urinary catheter. They botched it, plain and simple. It was such a mess they had to yank it out after just two hours because my bladder was filling up but nothing was actually draining through the tube. The whole process was agonizing. Since then, I’ve been dealing with this constant burning and scratching sensation along my urethra, plus I'm hitting the bathroom non-stop. The doctors basically just told me to "drink more fluids," which is such a joke—it hasn't helped at all, and honestly, things are actually getting worse.

So, I just got my urine analysis back today. Does anyone here actually know how to make sense of this stuff? I’m trying to figure out if I need to jump on some treatment immediately or if this is one of those things that’ll just fix itself if I leave it alone. Any insights?

Yeah, that’s exactly how it went down.

I had surgery three days ago, and this morning they hit me with Solu-Medrol and Synopen in my IV—not even sure why they thought I needed that combo. Then they followed it up with 7.5 mg of Dormicum, and man, that completely wiped me out. I am absolutely trashed.

So, they stuck me with this massive needle in the OR because I had a TIA, and the whole surgery dragged on for five hours. After the first injection, I felt nothing. But then they hit me with another 20 mg of that stuff—not Propofol, mind you—and suddenly everything went sideways. Next thing I knew, I was waking up in the ICU, where I spent the next 24 hours. Honestly, they couldn't even get me standing up by the following morning; the anesthesia had me spinning like a top. My surgeon actually told me I was acting so out of it that he felt awkward just being in the room with me. 😢 😢

So, here’s the deal: I’m heading in for thyroid surgery under general anesthesia in two weeks. I’ve scrolled through this thread to get a rough idea of the whole process and what to expect...

I’ve been under general anesthesia twice before, but both times they used an induction mask—which was honestly terrifying. Last time, I actually went into shock from it. My anesthesiologist mentioned that can happen with those inhalation methods, so she told me this time I’ll be put under via IV instead (NO MASK, they just intubate me after). Since I’ve never experienced IV induction before, can anyone walk me through how it actually goes down? If I’m freaking out big time, how fast am I going to drift off? And what does it actually feel like right after they inject the anesthetic?

I would seriously appreciate any insight

I haven't dealt with Janušić personally, but a friend of mine had surgery with him at the hospital, and a relative went to him privately. Both bounced back incredibly fast. My friend actually needed a re-operation because some other doctors totally botched the first attempt, and both women are thrilled with the outcome. Usually, when people go to him privately, it's because they're looking for a fix after being disappointed somewhere else.

Bedside manner? Zero points. But honestly, who cares? He didn't even walk me through the procedure or tell me what to expect. He was incredibly curt. Every time I asked a question, he just brushed me off. The actual exam lasted less than sixty seconds... he checks my hormones, tells me they're off, and says, "Come back in four weeks." When I asked why or how, his response was basically, "Because THAT'S WHAT I SAID."

I told him I was nervous, and he literally told me, "NOT MY PROBLEM." Look, I wasn't expecting a damn parade, but it wouldn't have killed him to give me a little more detail.😢

All I wanted was to know a little more...

I’ve been battling hyperthyroidism for over four years now (I'm 25), and I'm currently on PTU three times a day. This thing is just spiraling out of control. Honestly, I don't even want to get into how brutal and exhausting the symptoms have been—especially while trying to grind through my final year at a super demanding university.

It’s finally come to this: I need surgery to have my thyroid completely removed.

Does anyone have a solid recommendation? Who should I see, and where is the best place to go for this procedure?

I’ve been battling hyperthyroidism for over four years now (I'm 25), and I'm currently on PTU three times a day. Honestly, this hyper stuff is just getting out of hand. I don't even want to get into how brutal and annoying the symptoms have been—especially since I'm in my final year of a super demanding degree program right now. It's a nightmare.

It's finally come to this: I need surgery to completely remove my thyroid.

Since I'm still pretty young, I really need to find a top-tier surgeon who knows what they're doing. Does anyone have a solid recommendation for someone great?

Please help me out!!
