Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice? in Health ·
So, I've got grade 1 internal ones.
Basically, they don't cause massive issues or any bleeding, but I deal with inflammation a few times a year—and when that happens, it hurts and usually gets pretty itchy.
When things flare up, my anal muscles tighten so much that having a bowel movement becomes a struggle; the stool ends up being narrow, and that lasts for a couple of days before everything goes back to normal.
I'm young, so I still enjoy the occasional BBQ and a beer, but I'm starting to see that lifestyle definitely doesn't sit well with me.
I've seen a proctologist a few times, and his advice was basically to regulate my diet so stools stay soft, move more, watch what I drink, and just live under a glass bell jar while applying Fact ointments whenever needed.

I see a lot of people mentioning dilation—in what kind of situations is that actually done?

Is anyone else dealing with stool issues similar to mine?

It’ll probably clear up in a week or two, but it'll just come right back once you start living sloppily again—sitting around too much, eating junk, all that...

Nobody on this forum actually gets rid of them forever just by slapping on some ointment!

$12 is Fact. I'm honestly not even sure if you can get it without a prescription anymore. The lady at the CVS told me you can't just pick up those suppositories over the counter anymore

So, do you have any love for the ocean too?

Stay far away from pizza and all that other greasy fast food junk...

Since you're already dealing with them, there's no point in trying to just get rid of them; you can prevent things from getting worse by watching your diet and staying active.
Alcohol, red wine, or hard liquor—none of that is doing you any favors. Stick to soups and sausages paired with plenty of fruit (just skip the bananas)..

rowdybadger26 said:Hey everyone... maybe someone else already asked something similar, but I honestly don't have the time to scroll through 90 pages of posts. I'm dealing with this intense itching down there (and no, it's not a hygiene issue 😲). People say it might be the early stages of hemorrhoids, but I've got zero pain, no bleeding, and my digestion is fine. The only thing is I sit for 8 hours straight at work. When that itch kicks in while I'm sitting at the bank or somewhere public, it's unbearable... I feel like biting someone. If this really is just the beginning stage, can anyone help me out? What should I do?
Thanks

Classic 😁

I'm not sure which is worse, the pain or the itching—especially when it hits you hard in a public place like you mentioned...

There's nothing for it but to wash up properly after using the restroom, then apply some Preparation H and you'll be fine...
By the way, my diagnosis was Stage 1 internal ones.

Ever since I've had these things, whenever they flare up, it feels like everything is spasming. I don't know how to put it, but if I try to apply any ointment further in, it's a struggle...

Along with the itching, the area gets red enough to drive you crazy, so just dab it gently with some cotton to make sure you don't scratch yourself raw and start bleeding...

Pressure, pain, itching, and maybe some bleeding? That’s almost certainly hemorrhoids 99% of the time...
When you're dealing with inflammation, your sphincter muscle can tighten up so much that even passing a stool becomes a struggle, which usually means the stool isn't even full-sized anymore.

They don't sell it over the counter anymore, just like those caps.

So, I've got this bluish-purple lump on my butt about the size of two peas. Is this a hemorrhoid?! 😕
It bleeds every single time I go, and it itches like crazy, though nothing actually hurts.
Please help, thanks!

That's definitely a hemorrhoid!

Using FactCheck should help it recede after a bit.
I had an external one once that cleared up in a month, but these internal ones are what really kill you...

Just saw some blood spots after using the bathroom; that pizza from yesterday finally caught up with me, especially with all that soda... I know I shouldn't have, but man, it was good 😢!

It’s not just about how things look. What if you have a partner who—just like me—is absolutely obsessed with every kind of detailed anal play? It's hard to ignore.

So what am I supposed to do?

Thanks

Those little bumps are just the start, much like the itching.
I dealt with an external hemorrhoid last year—about 0.2 inches wide. My doctor told me to stick with some Faktu ointment, stay active, and take plenty of chamomile baths.
After a month of using the ointment, it finally receded.
But there's still this bluish vein that won't budge.
If I sit for too long one day, the next day the itching and pain come right back.
Basically, that heavy pressure feeling.

Anyway, there's a chance you have internal ones too. Not trying to freak you out, but they don't always bleed.
Regardless, I don't think it's smart to keep up with the "anal play" you mentioned. No doctor is going to recommend that if you actually want to get rid of these things!
Besides, if your partner doesn't mind playing around down there, why should they care if your hemorrhoids are visible? Still, you really ought to scale it back until the symptoms clear up.

By the way, has anyone tried Quest Diagnostics?

How long can I stay on Detralex?
I finished my first box by taking three doses of two tablets for four days, then two doses of two tablets for three days, before dropping down to one tablet twice a day for the second box, which is now empty.
Can I just keep going at one tablet twice a day with a third box?

I’ve seen a specialist twice and was diagnosed with first-degree internal hemorrhoids. He keeps telling me to use Faktu cream, but honestly, it hasn't done much. After some bleeding following a hard bowel movement, I decided to take matters into my own hands and started using those suppositories along with the Detralex because this whole situation has been a nightmare for a while now.👎

I have to admit, the bleeding has stopped and the pain isn't what it used to be—actually, I don't have any pain at all right now. Whether it's the Detralex or the suppositories, I have no clue.
I see some people claiming internal hemorrhoids aren't painful, but I'm not buying that; it hurt like hell, and the burning felt like someone had shoved a hot coal up my ass!😢

I’m dealing with the exact same thing right now after all the holiday overindulgence and heavy meals, though I’m not seeing any blood!
I feel bloated as hell, and my gas is out of control every single night—it’s been going on for about a week now.
My bowel movements are weirdly soft, kind of fragmented, and sometimes the volume is low. I get occasional stinging around the opening, and besides that, I get this pain on the left side of my abdomen, somewhere near the navel.😢
Back when I was seven or eight months ago, I saw a proctologist. He did the whole 🙄 routine and said the rectal ampulla was empty and my stool was normal. He did find one external hemorrhoid, about half a centimeter at the 5 o'clock position, which is why I went in.

Since then, I’ve survived a massive amount of stress, and it looks like my gut is totally punishing me for it.😕
It really gets to me mentally when I can't just go like I'm supposed to.
The itching was pretty constant during the warmer weather, and occasionally pops up now in the winter too, but usually only after I eat something spicy.

Anyone else going through this?
I have another follow-up with the proctologist in two months, God willing. There’s a history of cancer in my family, but then again, I’m only 24.

Just relax—stress plays a massive role in how your digestion works!
I’ve personally had days where I end up having a massive blowout five times right before an important meeting or something!
I deal with similar issues too; that itching can be absolutely maddening, but honestly, the more you wash, the worse it gets. Sometimes you just have to tough it out and wait for it to subside on its own.
If it becomes totally unbearable, though, just clean up and apply some Fact or a similar cream.

Either way, getting checked out by a doctor is your best bet!
My mother put off going to the doctor for ages, hiding her pelvic pain from all of us... unfortunately, it turned out to be uterine cancer.

I don't mean to scare anyone, but I truly believe it's better to catch whatever "we" might have early rather than later!
Since I spend my days working in the oncology ward, I know the people on the front lines, and the most critical thing is catching the problem in time.

Chemicals are just part of the modern era; you can't really run away from them.

Haha, you're absolutely roasted!🙂
I'm going vegetarian if this keeps messing with me!
I cut out coffee ages ago, now I probably need to ditch soda too!
The biggest friend is just complaining, but unfortunately we have less and less time to go for walks and stuff. You've gotta make the time for it instead of sitting around all day like a total couch potato!

Great, if it stays that way. But usually, things just start acting up again the moment you eat something that doesn't sit right with you.
Stick to the diet!
I let myself go for a few days—mostly dry food, tea, sandwiches, blah blah blah—and ended up with such hard stools that there was actually some blood on the toilet paper.
Hard stools are lethal. I have no idea if it was internal hemorrhoids or just a burst capillary from being so backed up.
The next day I switched back to fruit, veggies, and soup, and everything went back to normal.

Charles Morris11 is being absolutely brutal here! haha

I dealt with that exact same nightmare myself. It finally cleared up after three weeks of using FactCheck.org ointment and strictly avoiding sitting down!
I also started eating more fiber-rich soups and fruit, and made sure to move around whenever I had a spare second!

It still stings sometimes, but at least that thing is gone and doesn't bother me when I'm sitting or walking. When it was active, I couldn't move an inch—and don't even get me started on the bathroom trips; it was pure torture!
I still get these sudden, sharp stabs of pain out of nowhere, especially when I sit down, though I have no idea what's causing them.

Looks like the rest of our lives are going to be pretty interesting, folks!

Honestly, with all the illnesses hitting young people these days, you really need to get to a doctor as soon as you notice something's off.
I've already been through my fair share of those unpleasant checkups just to stay alive. I’d much rather deal with the discomfort now than sit on a problem until it ends up costing me my life.

Just give it 2-3 weeks... personally, mine cleared up after about a month!

You’re going to need a referral if you actually plan on seeing a specialist at the hospital! Honestly, don't even bother with general practitioners; most of them are just incompetent hacks sitting in local clinics collecting paychecks. There are a few exceptions, sure, but they're rare.
Dealing with hemorrhoids in Health ·
Hemorrhoids don't even have to be visible for the itching to drive you crazy!
I had an external one that finally receded, but I’m still dealing with this annoying intermittent itching today.
Your best bet is just to wash up thoroughly after every bathroom trip...
If the itching gets really intense, go grab some Preparation H.
And stay away from alcohol—it’ll just make the burning sensation way worse.
Dealing with hemorrhoids in Health ·
To be honest, I’ll eat pretty much anything—roasted chicken, pork, BBQ, you name it.
But I balance all that out by eating plenty of veggies like tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers, so I'm doing alright.
I hit the bathroom once or twice a day; sometimes things are a bit firm, sometimes they're soft.
I don't want to switch to a "clean" diet because if I start eating nothing but light stuff and then indulge in something heavy after a few days, my system just completely falls apart.
So, as long as I'm not feeling any major issues, I just eat normally and stay active. Staying moving really helps my digestion, which lets me eat whatever I want.
I think it's only when kids mess things up that it becomes an issue; some people have to be strict about their diet, and some people don't.
