Underrated Albums in Music ·
I find myself attempting to wrap my mind around which specific album deserves far more recognition than it currently receives, yet, much to my frustration, nothing quite comes to mind immediately.
Best movies from the 2000s? in Movies ·
I find myself most drawn to the work of David Fincher. While films like Panic Room, The Social Network, Zodiac, or even The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo from 2011 might not be considered "essential" by some standards, I believe they are orchestrated exceptionally well, at least according to my own particular sensibilities and taste.
I also found myself quite taken with There Will Be Blood directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
Furthermore, German cinema and Fatih Akin have brought me much joy, specifically with Head-On. Additionally, Good Bye, Lenin! was an incredibly fun experience to watch.
I have noticed a certain influx of superhero movies lately, a genre that wasn't really present in this publication before, certainly not with such massive production budgets. I am certainly not suggesting they are bad—in fact, Watchmen was quite entertaining to me.^^

Regarding technical innovations, the rise of digital SLR video cameras has been absolute game-changing. The sheer accessibility of the RED Scarlet and similar models—largely due to the ease of renting them out—has shifted everything. For instance, take a film like A Mexican Film which was shot entirely using a RED One camera that they likely just rented, though I haven't actually sat down to watch the film itself.

In my estimation, the remake falls quite short of the mark, whereas the original remains a far more enjoyable experience to sit through
It is truly, utterly pathetic, though not because of the actual tracklist—I honestly can't bring myself to even click that link. It’s more that what this journalist has to say is completely and utterly inconsequential.

Say, does anyone happen to have a dedicated thread established for the year 2011?

This topic echoes a discussion started by urbannomad30 back in 2007, though I haven't come across anything quite like it from the '08 or '09 seasons.
The previous thread offered some truly stellar recommendations, so it would be wonderful if we could breathe some life into this one as well.

Gonjasufi, A Sufi and a Killer; 2010

It’s a blend of psychedelia and electronic experimentation; the vocals remain raw and unguided for much of the runtime, yet they occasionally shift into something resembling genuine blues. There are even a few tracks here with real hit potential. THIS is certainly one of those standout records.

In short, it would be delightful if you all would join in and share some fresh, intriguing albums released in 2010. Please feel free to suggest any genre, and recommend as many albums as you like. I will simply paste the ground rules from the previous thread below. :-)

Rules of Etiquette:

1. One post per album;

2. Discussion is encouraged, but please take any side conversations to the local lounge threads—such as our various personal top ten lists;

3. Leave the childish bickering, such as "who's going to download the new album dropping before Christmas first," at home.

I am hopeful that this thread will gain some momentum. 👍

Would you say that your life has been "good"?
And how do you personally contemplate the concept of mortality?
Depressing American artists in Music ·

They aren't American, but honestly, who cares when you can actually feel the weight of the lyrics?
Good Isaac is a local band that draws heavy inspiration from Joy Division, and they possess an incredibly profound atmosphere coupled with deeply resonant songwriting. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They recently reissued their album 'crying behind dark glasses,' which is nothing short of an anthology-level masterpiece.

A definitive recommendation!
