It doesn't matter what's sitting on the C drive; we need to know about the desktop. Just highlight everything on your desktop, right-click any folder, and hit properties—that'll give you the total size of everything there.
The other part... regarding Office... close all your Microsoft Office programs first. Then, check Task Manager under processes to see if anything like MS Access is still hanging around in the background. If it's gone, fine... go ahead and uninstall if you haven't already. Once that's done, you'll need to get into the Registry Editor.
The fastest way is just hitting Start > Run, typing regedit, and hitting enter.
Navigate through this folder and look for this:
Registry \Software\Microsoft\Office\Office 2010\Registration
I honestly don't know what kind of headache you're in for... personally, I'd just wipe the whole Office folder from the Registry Editor, but to be safe, just delete the Registration folder for starters. Then reboot your PC and try installing just one thing, like Excel, to see if it actually works.
1.) On my desktop, I've got 2.06 GB and 338.61 MB. That's what showed up since it wouldn't let me select everything, so I just checked the properties for My Documents, Computer, and the Recycle Bin icons.
2.) Checked Task Manager—once I closed all the Microsoft Office programs, MS Access wasn't running anymore.
3.) I went into the Registry Editor, wiped the Office stuff, restarted, and tried installing Excel, but it's still acting up.
